I still don't get how CN fucked up so hard. I haven't seen the recent special, but from what I've heard it captured the spirit of the show pretty well.

Speaking of the special, i find it funny that people complained about that style, and now that we've got an artstyle closer to the original they say that the special's style was good because it was innovative

I mean the girls look the same but everyone else looks like they're from Steven Universe. I'd rather have an art style that meshes together nicely rather than how terribly out of place the girls look in the 2016 cartoon.
Finally found what I was looking for. [t]http://i.imgur.com/Ze6COHL.jpg[/t]

So much effort went into creating an amazing product, this feels like 3 days rushed in flash with some dumbass executive in the back screaming at the animators to hurry up.
Discounting animation errors and the fact they're already super deformed in style, the girls look even weirder than they have before (see: Rage Comic Bubbles, Weird Chin / Swallowing Blossom). Don't remember anything to that effect within the original show with that latter example.
There are a few problems. Buttercup's VA is so inconsistent, it's jarring. I seen this happen in a lot of shows, so I hope she shapes up. The Chemical X the girls are made of seems to be contaminated with dank memes. That's a core difference in the writing, but internet culture is prevalent enough to this generation to warrant their incorporation. The Mayor's character is changed up due to Ms. Bellum's absence. Now he has enough brainpower to use a smartphone. The focus on villains are a lot more loose than Craig's version. That trades off more kickass episodes for more dynamic character interactions. That creates a slight divide between the old & new audience. There's a lot more to say but I'm not feeling like building 'walls' so I'll space it out a bit.
Speaking of dank memes, it seems like Piemation was right...
wtf is piemation
I've just watched episode 13, Spider Romance, and I have to say it was pretty good, it's probably the best episode so far IMHO
wtf is piemation
This guy. FYI this video was released before the reboot first aired.
This is a finished product.
DISCOOOOOOO [editline]27th April 2016[/editline] also watch the clouds
also watch the clouds
Wow and I thought the characters looked flat
i mean when the spider pops out of the building they move lol
From the same article
So another good, established franchise gets nabbed, butchered, and slowly killed feminism (proudly self labeled/stated) and people obsessed with social "progression" in media? It's even more annoying when these same people are so bad at creation that they can't possibly just make new characters and franchises, it has to be something that already existed for a long time. The other day I saw some idiot and their followers begging for a bisexual black James Bond. Not a spy franchise, nope, has to be James Bond. Reasoning and argument? Literally "it's 2016".
-snip-
I have a suspicion they take over already established franchises because deep down they know what they could make wouldn't last a year of relevance or financial success without riding the coat tails of a previously renowned brand Edit: merge [editline]27th April 2016[/editline]
I have faith in Samurai Jack cause it's on Adult Swim, but hey they might fuck it up.
It's also got the same show runner iirc, should be fine. But alas, after this show I take back my wish for new Johnny Bravo.
I can't wait for all the other Cartoon Cartoons reboots they will make in hopes one will stick.

tits are sexist [editline]27th April 2016[/editline] but nah the way the show is going i bet they did that out of laziness
tits are sexist
Your tits end where my feelings begin
Your tits end where my feelings begin
tits are a tool of the patriarchy
Will this be the new My Little Pony, will we have Powerpuff Boys now, for christ's sake
I'd rather watch 2 seasons of Powerpuff Girls than one episode of that MLP shit... I remember the show being pretty decent and even funny at times as a kid.

I remember the show being pretty decent and even funny at times as a kid.
Hate to break it to you, but the new PPG is, sadly, complete shit and once you get away from the horrid fanbase MLP is actually a pretty good show. Might be your cup of tea but unlike PPG 2016, the animation is great and writing doesn't rely on just stating memes and calling it humor (at least until sometime into season 5). I've made it through over 5 seasons of MLP and I haven't been able to get through 3 episodes of PPG 2016. I did go back and have a good time the other day watching the old PPG episodes though. I'm amazed at how many little things I missed when rewatching the Beat-alls episode.

I saw a bit of the new one and the first thing I noticed is how awful the secondary characters' design clashes with the main girls.
So much cancer that someone's tits got removed
I lost it. This post and the piemation video made my night. I want to like this new show.. I really do. I've tried watching it a little, and I just can't. If I'd never seen the original, maybe. But knowing what it was and what it's become, no way.
I never watched the original and I can tell it looks bad. What irks me the most is the lines, they're so thin compared to the original. [editline]28th April 2016[/editline] The show feels rushed with all the little errors (not even counting the big ones), like those old spiderman cartoons from the 60s or Later Hanna Barbera stuff. I also heard a few people got upset over the Unicorn episode? Like it was suppose to be trans positive but a lot of people got the opposite vibe from it.
I also heard a few people got upset over the Unicorn episode? Like it was suppose to be trans positive but a lot of people got the opposite vibe from it.
The writing was so extremely hamfisted and missed their goal so far that it would be a better episode had they not confirmed that it was supposed to be an allegory to gender identity struggles. Well, not exactly. It'd still be pretty mediocre, but knowing what they were going for with it just makes it that much worse. It was so unifyingly bad that it got users on both 4chan and tumblr to agree full-stop with one another on how bad it was.
I also heard a few people got upset over the Unicorn episode? Like it was suppose to be trans positive but a lot of people got the opposite vibe from it.
On a pure writing perspective, it wasn't much clear where the hell the authors wanted to go with the whole metaphor, especially since it's revealed at the end of the episode that the pony had a horn under his mane all along, and therefore was always an unicorn
