I haven't seen anyone post it on FP so here, hotdiggedydemon made a render for his own ppg redesign.
This is a finished product.
I was talking more about the plot which seems a bit more "standard" than the other episodes, but yes that part was really weird, so weird that i thought it was intended.
Hate to break it to you, but the new PPG is, sadly, complete shit and once you get away from the horrid fanbase MLP is actually a pretty good show. Might be your cup of tea but unlike PPG 2016, the animation is great and writing doesn't rely on just stating memes and calling it humor (at least until sometime into season 5). I've made it through over 5 seasons of MLP and I haven't been able to get through 3 episodes of PPG 2016. I did go back and have a good time the other day watching the old PPG episodes though. I'm amazed at how many little things I missed when rewatching the Beat-alls episode.
Totally agree, i really think MLP got outdated with shows like Adventure Time (from season 3), Gravity Falls, Star vs The Forces Of Evil, Wander Over Yonder and obviously Steven Universe, but it's still way better than this PPG show in both storytelling and animation. I've actually stopped watching it because i don't like how the latest seasons are developing, but in 2011-2012 it was really only one of the few good cartoons around. Speaking about old ppg, Meet The Beat-Alls is probably my favourite episode, i'm a huge Beatles fan and that is like... the perfect tribute
I never thought anyone would dethrone Mojo Jojo as one of my favorite villains in this series. God damn Manboy comes close. I want to see more of him in the future.
IMO he'd actually work in the original series.
I'm so sick of fucking memes appearing. I completely gave up hope when Bubbles showed her "mojo jojo meme generator" this is fucking awful like just tell a fucking joke instead
I'm so sick of fucking memes appearing. I completely gave up hope when Bubbles showed her "mojo jojo meme generator" this is fucking awful like just tell a fucking joke instead
Wait what A meme generator?
Episode where Bubbles is an app/game designer and she makes a thing that puts impact text on Mojojo Pretty sure she called it meme generator too. Same episode her game gets hacked by the only fedora wearing villains in the series It's fucking disgusting
it's dumb but "fucking disgusting" is exaggerating dude...
I'm referring to the fact that a bunch of shitheaded "progressives" recessitated Powerpuff girls to smear it's memory with their internet politics BS and memes. A decent show of the past is now shittily written and animated socjus garbage. Granted I'm pissed off by something unrelated but I'm not sure that's much of an exaggeration. Can't stand officially endorsed propaganda rebranding.
Well we are in a different age of technology compared to when original PPG aired, but putting internet-created memes into cartoon does not sound like a good idea to me at all, which obviously could not happen when the originals aired. The show existes on its own terms, while it appears that the fresh PPG puts more than one 'reference' to modern culture. I dont have anything to say about the show itself because I havent watched it, but it does not sound appealing to me at all..
Doesn't seem any different from referencing modern pop-culture back when the original aired.
I think the difference being this show is more in your face about it. It feels the writers are being "How do you do, fellow kids? We know what memes are!"
Yeah to be fair it has been forever since I've seen the original PPG, I don't remember any pop-culture references except that one Death Star attack parody, and that wasn't even modern Pop Culture.
But yes the original did have pop-culture references. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/ShoutOut/ThePowerpuffGirls Like this for instance: [t]https://i.imgur.com/moFHieM.jpg[/t] Blossom didn't just go "Hey look girls I'm Cartman from Southpark hahahaha"
They had a whole episode parodying the Beatles and Yoko Ono and constantly referencing their songs, it was brilliant
The difference here is that when the original show did references, they knew how to be a bit more subtle about it. This new show is constantly in your face about it and only adds to it being a horrible abomination for what was once one of the best cartoons on television. I only pray CN decides to not revive any other shows. I'd hate to see what they'd do to Dexter's Lab or Ed Edd n Eddy.
Ed Edd n Eddy.
:disgust: just the thought alone..
Ed, Edd, and Eddy is one of the few shows that had proper closure in a sea of other great shows getting cancelled. To reboot it would be a horrible diservice.
:disgust: just the thought alone..
The movie special/finale addressed character development between the Ed's and the supporting cast in a way that it'd be difficult to justify even returning to the original show's formula. If they reboot the series it'd be an entirely different show and character interactions, aside from a few, would wind up being unrecognizable. For this reason, I think it's safe to say it won't be rebooted. At least not without immediately raising red flags all around.
Yeah memeshit isn't comparable to Mr T training Johnny Bravo to face Richard Simmons As actual guest stars
So far only Ben 10 and Justice League are getting reboots. Everything else hasn't been announced yet or is not happening.

Context is always king, context is never not king. [editline]29th April 2016[/editline]
Why do I like this more than the current PPG?
Because they don't look manufactured to sell toys and memes so CN can track facebook hits at TW board meetings
But yes the original did have pop-culture references. Kids watching this had no idea that this was about Cartman, parents did bc they obviously watched SP so it was something for them to enjoy while kids just said "that's cool" i really think television networks have lost the plot when it comes to pop culture, nobody seems how to integrate it normally anymore
Pop Culture today is basically just inserting memes wherever possible
This is a finished product.
Believe it or not, they actually fixed this. Keep believing or not, but they still fucked up the fixed version because there are still objects untouched by the filter.
Ed, Edd, and Eddy is one of the few shows that had proper closure in a sea of other great shows getting cancelled. someone now made a blog dedicated to every PPG2016 animation error http://powerpufferrors.tumblr.com/
Pop Culture today is basically just inserting memes wherever possible
If you don't overdo it and pick the right meme it can be funny [t]https://i.ytimg.com/vi/HIF86Af82HI/maxresdefault.jpg[/t]
nah "funny memes" is a funnier idea than any meme that could exist in this universe try the next one over
if you do a refrence, it has to be subtle as fuck to the point where you need to be a hardcore fan to point it out immediately but a casual person can pass over it immediately without loss of quality a example would be the numerous strong bad references in modern video games http://www.hrwiki.org/wiki/Game_Sightings a bad example is borderlands 2
