Did I stumble across the Cartoon Network hate thread? Oh, sorry. I think I'm still going to give the show a shot (maybe tomorrow), will report back with anger if there's anything I want to contribute to the thread.
Cartoon Network is not the network it used to be, and even if it was a great network can still put out utter trash.
Maybe I just finally grew out of Cartoon Network. But every show that Cartoon Network (not counting Boomerang) has released in the last 6 years I have just found EXTREMELY boring or just bad.
The current generation of cartoons are being made by a generation of people who don't resonate with you, that's really the thick and thin of it. No one outgrew anything, you just fell out of sync. But this PPG tho, this is shit by any standards.
YouTube recommended me to watch this. [editline]2nd May 2016[/editline] oh my god

"I used to be with it, but then they changed what *it* was. Now what I'm with isn't *it*, and what's *it* seems weird and scary to me. It'll happen to you..." -Grandpa Simpson Dammit i'm not even 20 yet. I'm too young to not be with it anymore.
Only show I can think of to say good things about thats on is Regular Show and I'm not even sure if its on TV anymore
I'm really into the big three actually. Adventure time, Stuniverse, Regular show, I even like Clarence a lot. The fucking boat episode ripped me to shreds.
I turned on CN once a few weeks ago and just saw a show where they were having "meme tryouts" and I haven't gone back since. what a cesspool
I turned on CN once a few weeks ago and just saw a show where they were having "meme tryouts" and I haven't gone back since. what a cesspool
I'm going to take a wild guess and say that was Uncle Grandpa.
Uncle Grandpa
Don't mention that. Ever again.
That would have been We Bare Bears. Haven't really seen much of it but yeah they have a meme tryouts episode :speechless:. Maybe it's just CN Aus but I wish they would show something other than TTG and those 3D Lego shows. Uncle Grandpa is OK in small doses.
We Bare Bears is a fun little slice of life show but has content based on things that are topical and trendy, especially in a city like San Francisco where the show takes place and where I live, like having an episode involving drone delivery services or Food Trucks. It's worth watching because it has some solid writing and humor and Ice Bear but it's definitely one of those shows that ten years from now we'll look back and go "holy shit that was the world was like once." Plus for the SU fans the main theme is sung by Garnet's VA Estelle and is one of my favorite show themes to date.
I'm going to take a wild guess and say that was Uncle Grandpa.
UG has higher standards than resorting to memes. Trust me, I've seen a few episodes.
I wouldn't say that Uncle Grandpa has higher standards. More of they don't need to use memes when a lot of the humor in the show is already forced.
I was completely turned off of UG after watching the Steven Universe crossover special because I came to the realization that this character with the most insufferable voice is, in fact, the main and titular character of an entire cartoon series. How the fuck can a voice so grating be at the center of a franchise?
Cartoon Network went from a station with a lot of good cartoons to a station with few good cartoons.
Cartoon Network went from a station with a lot of good cartoons to a station with few good cartoons.
At least they're recovering from what they were 5 or so years ago, they were arguably as bad as modern Nickelodeon at that time.
Cartoon Network went from a station with a lot of good cartoons to a station with few good cartoons.
And they're not helping themselves by airing the same 5 cartoons 24/7. :(
I was going to ask what was worse, Uncle Grandpa or Johnny Test, but then I realized thats like asking what your favorite type of cancer is
Just watched 14 episodes. Hey it's not so bad, feels like Teen Titans Go-lite. If you see past the nostalgia, technical problems and lower your expectation a little, it has its appeal. Wait did I mention Teen Titans Go? oh yeah... no wonder you guys hated this reboot.
CN should just stick with new shows instead of reboots, they've had more luck with those and if they fuck up at least they don't ruin the image of good shows. They're even rebooting Ben 10 this year and that show isn't even that old, the last Ben 10 show Omniverse ended in 2014, why does it need a reboot at this point.
I'm pretty sure Cartoon Network would rather just go off the air instead of Not rebooting Ben 10 for the 50th time. The show makes a boat load of money in toy sales. Makes sense for them to keep rebooting it till the cash flows stops.
I'm really into the big three actually. Adventure time, Stuniverse, Regular show, I even like Clarence a lot. I kinda miss the random humor it had in the beginning
I stopped watching Regular Show years ago. It was funny for a long while, but it got extremely formulaic and boring by extension. Mordecai punches Rigby, Rigby insults someone, Muscleman flips out, Benson yells, go on a SEEMINGLY normal quest, etc etc, some weird human-object hybrid acts as a final boss, throw a few "dude!"s in there, the end. The romance shit drove me off though. It was fine at first when Mordecai was just being a spaz around Margaret, but then they kept making more episodes about this stupid love triangle, that, even when all problems were resolved, they decided to fuck it up some more. The drama episodes kept piling on because of it and it really made me despise these unnecessary arcs that were taking up a good chunk of screentime.
I think a lot of that comes from CN not wanting to cancel it. I think they are just running out of material to work with. Haven't people been saying the same thing about Adventure Time for awhile as well?
Is Regular show still good? It turned into some sort of romance drama later on in the series. I kinda miss the random humor it had in the beginning
I havent watched RS in years but when i stopped it was at the point it had gotten popular and it decided "we're already popular we dont have to be funny anymore we can just use our own tropes ironically" like wearing out the you're fired, my mom, rigby and mordecai being oblivious to obvious bad things trope, awkward around girls trope, it just didn't feel natural since it just became completely formulated of what was going to happen and how it'd end maybe they stopped but I feel like the only thing going for it is that it's at least mildly down to earth, I feel like the comedy is pretty stale and predictable edit: gastrictank summarized it well, didn't see the post- the show just doesn't know how to maintain its own personality.
