Did you know that the human psyche is composed of the Subconscious, called Instinct, and the conscious, called whatever the fuck they call it.
Many monks are known for being able to "kill" certain instincts of theirs through meditation and self harm, such as keeping themselves in a "hungry" state, until their body stops asking for food, and the natural reaction of switching the body to "Hunter mode" is killed. ("hunter mode" being when senses are more awake and the process of thinking less sharp when hungry)
Point is, it is speculated that the instinct keeps dragging us backwards and slowing our mental evolution. This means that, if we survive a thousand years or so, we will become much less "aimalistic". be it sex, food, beauty,... We will lose our senses and functions that call these.
It is interesting, I hope.
