I dont like my top bar design but as far as a mockup goes, this is all i got for now, and im planning on changing some things like the Logout and most of the top bar Icons and such.
That's just the normal forum with some horrible things attached.

Eh, true, im too tired to be doing this.

Everything is too small, Android and iPhone devices all have capacitive screens which means you should make them a bit bigger

Was creating that in terms of my Android Phone, the HTC Evo, which happens to have such a large screen that what ive made would look fairly normal on that.
but only on that :/

Then why did you use the 640px × 960px iPhone resolution? The Evo is WVGA :colbert:
Quick question, lets get some opinions together: is there a demand for this to be a universal app and so for it to work on iPad, too? I find Facepunch works very well on iPad because it's so much higher-res, but an iPad version could look very slick.
Three options, don't do this, do this for the first version, or do this later.
I need to decide now because I'll need to factor it into my plans.
Browsing FP on an iPad with Safari is pretty much perfect. The only hiccups are the way you need to click like 3 times on every button to get it to do anything (which is what happens for links that depend on mouseover.)
Maybe make it so pictures scale to fit the screen?
This is so going to be worth 59p.

Thread view coming soonish.

Oh yeah, need better icons. Those will probably get swapped out with others at some point.
love it.

The layout itself looks ok, there are parts I'm not so sure about, like the threadlist view, the post icons down the side look out of place (and lets face it, who even looks at those anyway, on a mobile device where screen real-estate is precious, we don't need them). The Facepunch text looks out of place also on the toolbar, as do many of the icons.
Also you didn't take into account subforums, on your General Discussion thread list shot, In The News is missing; can you think of a good way to include those?

Oh hey guys.
May I suggest that whenever you start up the app the rules are the first screen that you see, I think it this would be a good idea.
Downloading the android SDK takes soo long.
google should improve their servers lol

Took me a whole 5 minutes then. Not a huge fan of Android development in general though, hugely fragmented platform. We'll likely be targeting 1.6.
Will need to do some reworking on the UI to make it Android compatible with this new framework I'm using though, so the Android version will take longer.
I suppose you could have the rules on the loading screen.
Brb remembering and finding apps with cool functions.
We'll likely be targeting 1.6.
Well, that rules out App2SD
i use opera mobile 10
Works great with FP
So many UI elements I want to use but can't because they're not available on Android, argh.
Awesome mockups. Not sure about the facepunch font at the top though, it looks off.
I really like the mockup. Just add the custom and subforums and it'd be great.
What I'd love to see is on the forum index having just the category names like Facepunch, Games, Garry's Mod.etc which when pressed collapse containing the sections of that category. iPhone apps do this a lot and it's very sexy and keeps everything less cluttered.
Well, that rules out App2SD
Apps2SD support doesn't break backwards compatibility. At least not with 2.0/2.1, dunno about 1.6 though.

Just make two UIs, a straight copy is going to look and feel out of place.

That means two applications basically, it's enough work doing one.
Also for those who didn't get the hint, PM ME ABOUT BETAS AND YOU'LL BE BLACKLISTED FROM ANY BETAS OK? Getting sick of all the PMs about it.

Doing behind the scenes stuff at the moment talking to the Facepunch API, these interfaces are not final (ie they're definitely going to be changed). Thread status (ie number of new posts), thread poster and such are stored in the Thread object, just not displaying them for now. Didn't see the point in writing the custom TableViewRow for it when it's all gonna get changed soon anyhow. I implemented little loading toolbars when you click a fourm or click refresh too, but they're so quick I can't get a screenshot. :v:
I have an idea
What if sliding opens a tab

I had a REALLY cool idea for the threadview though. I'm going to have it so that when you're getting to the bottom of a page, it loads the next page automatically in the background and then just adds them onto the bottom. You'll still be able to navigate directly to a page if you want to do that, too, though.

At least on Android quite a few apps (most Twitter apps, GMail and probably lots more) do this, it's good.
Side-note: I think some Greasemonkey script did this on FP as well.
can't wait for this.
Oh and you can shake to refresh instead of pressing the refresh button. May end up removing the refresh button or at least putting it somewhere else because space on that bar is precious.
Is it gonna support tabs? If so, implement the same system Opera mini uses, that works well.
Neat, and is there a way to not make them refresh as soon as you go to another tab?
I hate Safari doing that. The slide idea's cool as well.
Yeah that is so annoying when you switch to a previous tab and the page refreshes on you.
