Well if there are tabs :v:
Is it gonna support tabs? If so, implement the same system Opera mini uses, that works well.
Probably not initially, but each thread is it's own "window", so I can add them later once we have the UI nailed for it. I'll probably get the basics done so it's in a usable state then do a beta, then a release. That way we can do some device testing while I'm still working on things. For those wondering what I'm writing this in, I'm taking advantage of Apple's iOS announcement regarding App Store rules yesterday. Some months ago they created a rule that said you had to write your apps in Obj-C, and that systems like Adobe's Flash to iPhone and MonoTouch were banned from the store. This restrictions was lifted yesterday, which allows developers to write apps in whatever language and with whichever framework they please. This means I can write all of this in JS. Yeah, you heard me right. Humble Javascript. And it works, it really does. I can use all the functionality I want on iPhone, GeoLocation, Camera, Video, everything. Plus it runs at full native speed, it's just like any other app written in Obj-C.
Facepunch with location posting. Oh god.
Facepunch with location posting. Oh god.
Not happening. But uploading photos from the camera or your photos library might. Edit: The fact this is written in JS has curious benefits, some parts of FP I can literally port over using large chunks of the same code, such as the Ticker.
I'd laugh if you could. [editline]12:19AM[/editline] Good idea I never usually get to post my Photo library anywhere :saddowns:
Is it gonna be paid or will it have a free version with ads and a paid version without ads? If it's gonna be paid only, any idea on a price?
If you read the thread, it says there will be two versions, paid and free. Price is undecided, but it will be fairly cheap. Will likely take a vote on it see what people think it's worth and then decide, not yet.

I've always wanted to try my hand at making an iPhone app, can't be all that hard once I get the basics down. Only things stopping me are: No Mac, no iPhone (sold it to a mate when I got my Nexus One)
Will you ever make this app in Qt? Maemo, MeeGo and Symbian^3 and up will or already support it (symbian would benefit the most though)
Read a few pages back and you'll see the answer was no.
Neat, and is there a way to not make them refresh as soon as you go to another tab? I hate Safari doing that. The slide idea's cool as well.
Safari does that because it forgets the content of those tabs to save memory. I doubt this would need that.
why is it that as soon as one person starts to make a Facepunch app, EVERYONE decides to make something to do with it?
If Hexxeh isn't doing Symbian, then somebody should. I feel forgotten :frown:
why is it that as soon as one person starts to make a Facepunch app, EVERYONE decides to make something to do with it?
:bandwagon: Most of them won't get anywhere because they don't realise that it's not as easy as it might sound. Hell, just getting into the store is a feat in itself. I welcome the competition, though. If someone can produce a better application than me, then fair play to them. I'm trying to get everyone involved in the development of this app so I can produce exactly what you all want.
Page 9: Edit: Ninjad
I was asking since Qt would cover three different platforms, but ok.
:bandwagon: Most of them won't get anywhere because they don't realise that it's not as easy as it might sound.
I only answered for Symbian
So did he, which is why I asked about Qt. But he probably wont do it anyway
Cool idea, I'd certainly have it handy on my iPhone!
I would be intrested in beta testing, I have an iPod Touch 3rd Gen and an iPhone 3GS 32gb. PM me, and I'll give you my UDID.
Looking forward to the Android version. Good luck, Hexxeh and everyone else involved.

Getting sick of all the PMs about it.
From a bit higher up
He said PM
About the price, i highly doubt that it will be more that the lowest, since viewing facepunch on the safari works really well, and you can do anything you can on a regular computer
He said PM
Spamming the thread with it is just as bad.
About the price, i highly doubt that it will be more that the lowest, since viewing facepunch on the safari works really well, and you can do anything you can on a regular computer
It'll probably go for 0,79 euros here. I would get it anyway.
Also someone asked about an app for the windows phone, I could try and work with XNA to try and make one since the newest version supports windows 7 (phone)dev. I mean i could try. Im not really good with C# but its worth a shot.
Oh and you can shake to refresh instead of pressing the refresh button. May end up removing the refresh button or at least putting it somewhere else because space on that bar is precious.
I don't want to shake my phone, do the drag and release to update thing like the Facebook and Twitter app.
I don't want to shake my phone, do the drag and release to update thing like the Facebook and Twitter app.
The facebook app uses both the shaking and the drag and release.
I'll add a toggle for shaking. The problem with the drag thing is that you have to scroll all the way to the top to do it.
