:downs: Some sort of app is spamming me with: I'M THE GODDAMN BATMAN
Sounds like an awesome app.
Its a beta app my friend made, To bump eachother with messages, sort of like a IM app (MSN, eBuddy), I was so lucky to get into the beta.
I love the concept and it works damn nice.

Boy you sure have a lot of experience beta testing apps :monocle:
Hexxeh, are you studying AQA Computing A2 and are you doing this for Unit 4 - "The Major Project"?
Wow this is turning out to be really good? Any progress on the android version yet :v: ?
I'm anxious to get it for my 3GS.
Hopefully I'll be able to get into the Beta testing program.

The smug shouldn't be there, you haven't given us any nice content to look at...
What exactly are you working on now with regards to the documentation?
Good question.

He said that his focus is currently on the IOS versions, it will be ported to Android after that.
Once the iOS version is done and dusted he'll probably do the Android port, seeing as the iOS version is his course work and all, it makes sense that he'd focus on it.

Yep, that's right.
Android was kinda taking a backseat before, now that I have an awesome device to test on, I'm putting it at pretty much equal. Using my Nexus One as my main device now, very much liking it.
Titanium means that it's mostly the same between platforms, and I'm doing much of the design of the app so that it will be easy to write the bits of code that make it work on Android. Basically there are a couple main UI elements I'm using on the iPhone version that just aren't available on Android. However, these are generally contained by windows, or I've written wrappers to the calls for them so that I can run a bit of conditional code to recreate the same piece of UI but in the specific way for the platform it's running on.
One example is the the little loading tickers, these use a toolbar UI element, which I can't use on Android. But Android has a generic way of doing loading screens, so on Android we can use that instead.
Once the app is ready to release on iPhone, we'll do a release there, get some feedback and then release the Android version to coincide with the first update of the iPhone version. That way I can fix any bugs we find in the iPhone version in the Android one, and sort out any more Android specific details.
No timeframes, but I'm working on it. It's mostly written work I need to do for the coursework right now, so there's not much progress on the app, but once all of this is out of the way I should be able to work on the app at a very quick pace, given we'll have lots of time in class to work on it and I can work on it at home too (since it's my coursework, we won't get any other crap from that subject taking my time up).
I finished my course.
Using UCAS to sign on to another but I don't understand the reference thing.
I'm doing the same course as you, but what you're doing is of a really high standard compared to anything my college would allow.
You're really far ahead too.
Yeah, technical solution we aren't even due to start until November. But my classes are easy and so I figured I may as well take it further than I need to so that I actually learn something in my classes. I'm using a framework I've never used before so it's time well used in learning it in my opinion.
For the uninformed among us (or slightly less informed), what exactly is a framework?

Hexxeh, Can you give us a comparison of the Android vs the Iphone and which one do you think is better for a developer AND user only. You obviously know what you are talking about.

I just went out and bought myself a Samsung Galaxy, been having a fiddle around with it, Android systems are very user friendly, quick, I must admit it's a bit quicker than the iPhone for running apps and loading them, I do prefer the iPhone's user friendliness, but I'm certainly going to be using the Galaxy as my personal phone and my iPhone for work.
The only problem with me & Android is that the Android Market isn't really supervised, and you easily get viruses from it.

That's a risk you take when you want freedom on your device

Don't forget to look up the lagfix
Don't forget to look up the lagfix
Elaborate please my good man?
The only problem with me & Android is that the Android Market isn't really supervised, and you easily get viruses from it.
I've never had a virus on my android.
Care to elaborate?
Would it be too much to ask for you to try and make sure this is compatible with HTC wildfires?
Well, I would really enjoy a Symbian version of this App,
Symbian is running Open C Librarys too.
Atleast 50% of all Smartphone users in Germany are using a Nokia Phone,
20% iPhone due to its Price, 10% HTC, 5% LG, the other 15% are using Samsung Phones (based on Windows Mobile or Android)
Symbian isn't happening.
Wildfire is Android so that is happening.
From a user and a developer standpoint, it's really hard to call. The problem for me is, I like Android, and in the case of the Nexus One, I like the hardware too. The OS is good, not too dumbed down like iOS can be at times. But it doesn't have many of the apps I want, and if it does have an app, isn't very often not as high quality as it's iPhone equivalent.
The problem is that many companies write the iPhone app, and then just do the Android version as an afterthought. Or try to port the UI across directly. And this makes for crappy apps.
For this reason, I still prefer the iPhone. But I find myself using Android. Go figure.
I was referring to the case with GlowSnake, the worms game which told your location and spied on your phone, you call that freedom? If I want "freedom", I'll jailbreak my iPhone, atleast Apple keeps their users secure from any viruses.
Android is growing up quickly

When you install something on Android, a list of permissions it requires is shown as an install confirmation.
There's no doubt "tracking your location" was in that list, and if someone just clicked past that, then I honestly think they only have themselves to blame.
