Well, I would really enjoy a Symbian version of this App,
From a user and a developer standpoint, it's really hard to call. The problem for me is, I like Android, and in the case of the Nexus One, I like the hardware too. The OS is good, not too dumbed down like iOS can be at times. But it doesn't have many of the apps I want, and if it does have an app, isn't very often not as high quality as it's iPhone equivalent.
The problem is that many companies write the iPhone app, and then just do the Android version as an afterthought. Or try to port the UI across directly. And this makes for crappy apps.
So basically, android apps would make android better than iOS if its apps were more like the iPhone's apps.
I was referring to the case with GlowSnake, the worms game which told your location and spied on your phone, you call that freedom? If I want "freedom", I'll jailbreak my iPhone, atleast Apple keeps their users secure from any viruses.
o no whatever will I do with my rough location being known somewhere to some obscure crappy developer
o no I need my precious freedem

I have to admit, he has some point on this.
Alot of android applications just... Aren't pretty, to put it nicely.

To be fair, Android started out on much shittier hardware. (I hate how my G1 fares when compared to something like the iPhone 3G, especially in the graphical department.)
Android was kinda taking a backseat before, now that I have an awesome device to test on, I'm putting it at pretty much equal. Using my Nexus One as my main device now, very much liking it.
Once the app is ready to release on iPhone, we'll do a release there, get some feedback and then release the Android version to coincide with the first update of the iPhone version. That way I can fix any bugs we find in the iPhone version in the Android one, and sort out any more Android specific details.
Good sir, I doubted you, but now I once again have a platonic love for you. I just hope your app doesn't break on a certain processor architecture. Got me pissed off when I found out Fennec doesn't support ARMv6 processors.
The G1 has better hardware than the 3G...
Actually, no. The only thing it has going for it is more RAM. The iPhone 3G has a slightly better processor despite it being underclocked. The GPU in the 3G is crappy, but still fairly better than the G1's.
http://glbenchmark.com/phonedetails.jsp?D=Apple%20iPhone%203G&benchmark=glpro11
http://glbenchmark.com/phonedetails.jsp?D=T-Mobile%20G1&benchmark=glpro11
The G1 even fails to run two of the GPU tests that the 3G can run.
What the fuck are you talking about?
CPU
G1 - 528MHz
3G - 412MHz
RAM
G1 - 192MB
3G - 128MB
Have fun, the documentation is a bitch, I ended up making a chunky-as-fuck database system and about 90 pages of documentation
and still only got a C

lolololol MHz =/= Processing power
Also, the G1's processor is underclocked to 384 MHz on Stock Android, just like the 3G's is underclocked to 412MHz, but is 620 MHz. (I don't have one so I wouldn't know if you can clock it back up after jailbreaking, but I imagine you could.)
But still, that's why the G2's 800 MHz processor beats out the Nexus One's 1 GHz processor or why 1.x dual-cores can beat out 3.2 GHz single-cores.

Shouldn't happen with this. Firefox for Android is a native application, this is Java, so processor-independent.
Symbian isn't happening.
Wildfire is Android so that is happening.

For this reason, I still prefer the iPhone. But I find myself using Android. Go figure.
Thanks, I guess i will wait a few years and see what it is like then.

The CPU is practically the same, stop typing crap since all you have been doing is defending the Iphone because you're clearly and Apple fanboy.
Guys, quit the flame war. Both are now underpowered pieces of shit.

I want a background of that for my iPhone, whoever made it could they remove the "Mobile" and center the "Facepunch" text.
There is a greasemonkey script that does live threads based on input from the ticker, if you could incorporate live threads into it somehow that would be great
Hexxeh, Can you give us a comparison of the Android vs the Iphone and which one do you think is better for a developer AND user only. You obviously know what you are talking about.
android for devs, ios for users.
You could do the logo yourself, just chop bits out
How goes it with this?

Especially considering the iPhone SDK and signing apps is limited to Macs, which constricts their development base to the 20% that own MACs (This is assuming 20% of mobile developers own macs, in comparison to the 20% overall market share for MACs.)

do away with the gradients, add a softer, more transparent shadow, and add similar shadows to the text as well. i think a better text could be used as well but can't quite think of a name for one, but even arial would be better(seriously). maybe impact?
