I have absolutely no problem with how Hexxeh has the app planned out now, but I do agree if it was just 99c he has the potential to make money in the thousands.

Very nearly ready for beta now, just got two things left to do (thread/post pagination and get compwhizii to fix a critical API bug). Here's what's implemented:
• Authentication: you can login with your account, it'll keep your session going for next time you open the app, very basic logout feature under the settings menu
• Forum navigation: browse all the forums you have access to, view threads and then threads and posts contained. UI is very rough here, I'm making sure the functionality is firm before thinking about UI design. The postview in particular is pretty terrible, as right now there's a webview per post. That makes things SLOOWW, but dealing with things like emotes, text formatting, YouTube videos and such is quite a large job, and not priority. These [i]will[/i] come later.
• Popular threads - you can view and reply to the top 25 most popular threads on the forum
• Read threads - you can see a list of threads you've read recently and view/reply to these, too
There are lots of rough edges, the UI is universally terrible (except thread view, that's decent and might actually stay). You might also find the odd part I've left in that isn't finished, like the swipe event on a post. This will eventually slide out a rating tray for that post. But not yet.
I'm now waiting for an invite to [url=http://testflightapp.com/]Testflight[/url] to start the beta. Beta is locked to your account, and isn't transferrable.
If you've any questions about the beta, I'm happy to answer them now, your head won't be bitten off anymore. It's time, folks.

Not really. I don't like the shadow on Cosmics, but at a small size it looks fine.

I anticipate this.
We'll most likely do a special price for a week or so after release, make it half price for early buyers. That way if the price is a serious barrier for you, you have no excuse not to buy when it's like a couple dollars. But seriously, two bucks doesn't even buy a coffee these days, so it's not much for an app.

I've selected 5 users for the first very limited round of testing (in addition to the entire mod team, who each get a complimentary copy of the app). Assuming things go well, I'll open it up a little more.

Also, to people complaining about Hexxeh, god forbid,charging people for his app:
Have you ever developed anything? If you aren't cool with the idea why Hexxeh is charging, here it is.
1. Buy in costs.
To develop for iPhone, you need a Mac. I'm pretty sure you guys know the price of a 13" MacBook Pro, so I'll leave that there. Also, you need a, you know, iPhone. And to publish you appC even to your own device or for ad-hoc use not on the app store, you need to pay $99 or £69. App Store adding is free after that, but that's still a dent in his wallet.
2. Development costs & Profits.
Time! Time! Time! Time is money, deal w/it.
Hexxeh gets 70% of his $3. That's not a lot. $2.10, wow. He has to sell approximately 50 copies just to cover his developer subscription.
3. Summary
It's costs lots to do, if you don't want to pay, pirate it and suffer the concequences (which you might guess) or get the free version.
Can't you guys help a bro out, or are you that tight-arsed?

Just tried tidying up the postview a little. It's going to change from this to something more like cosmic duck's mockup eventually, but this will do for now.

Error loading post is an API side bug, the one I'm waiting for compwhizii to fix. Something API side screws up when you use symbols like £ or $.
It's also blazing fast. From a cold start of the app to viewing a thread, even over the worst GPRS connection ever at my house, takes less than 4-5 seconds.
This is awesome. I can't wait for the finished product!
Are you going to have that "Slide to refresh" thing?
