Anyone have experience with the Efest IMR18650 3100mAh V1? Some places say its safe up to 20A but others say 10A and under is best for it. I'm getting Sony's as soon as possible but I'm not sure if I should make coils below .5 ohm if I'm gonna be using this one.
The efest purples are some of the best batteries you can get right now.
However for anything sub-ohm I'd recommend these: http://www.amazon.com/Efest-18650-Rechargeable-Battery-Purple/dp/B00IKTCZ9W
Rated at 35A max continuous discharge, so that allows you to go down to about 0.106 ohms without going past the rating. I've used a couple 0.08 and 0.07 ohm builds on that battery with no problem, since the discharge isn't continuous.
If you're not sure how much current a build will draw, just plug the voltage (3.7v) and resistance into this calculator: http://www.ohmslawcalculator.com/ohms_law_calculator.php
This may also be useful for predicting your resistance: http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.asp?s=dp&r=0.1655&awg=22&id=4&ll=8 (DO NOT use this instead of an ohm meter.)

I figured as much. I've already got my mind made up on a .5 ohm dual coil build, since that'll pull just less than 10A. Some places were saying that the batteries I got are only good for a 20A pulse discharge and doing anything over 10A frequently will heat the battery, and some places say that I could push 20A easily without issues.
I posted a question on /r/electronic_cigarette and I'm curious if you guys have any feedback and/or advice to give me. Feel free to read the entire thread and the comments.
Basically idk whether to pay out the ass for a clone DNA30 or pay out the ass for a sigelei 100w

Just make sure that any mod you stick your batteries in has vent holes. If the battery does happen to fail for some reason, they are designed to vent. However, if there is nowhere for the gas to go, it could become far more dangerous.
Honestly from my experience, you can trust the rating the manufacturer put on the battery. And most of the time they give you the max continuous current rating, but the pulse rating is what you need to know. And that's usually (very) roughly 40% higher than the continuous rating.
For example, those 2500mah efest batteries I linked in my previous post are rated at 35A. But that's continuous discharge. After some googling, you find that they are rated at 50A for pulse discharge.
I've run mine at 45A on a 0.08 ohm build, and after several months of use, they haven't gotten anywhere near warm, even after chain-vaping for a good 10-15 minutes.
As long as you don't press and hold the button for 15 minutes straight on a 0.09 ohm build you'll be fine.

Why not go with a mechanical mod? They're cheaper and far less prone to failing due to simplicity. (Plus, if you want to put a sub-ohm build on an RBA, it's unregulated)
Also, most vape shops mark up their prices like mad, it's far cheaper to vape stuff online. If you want to be discreet about it, check amazon, or if you're willing to wait a couple weeks for shipping, fasttech.

I made sure the mod I bought from FastTech had vent holes. Got a black Nemesis clone and a black Omega RDA clone, gotta budget this shit y'know :v: (Also researched a ton on clones that I looked at just to make sure I wasn't getting anything with a huge design flaw.)

This pisses me off to no end.
Found the eleaf istick in my vape shop and tried it out. Then the dude was like "it's 50 dollars" and I was like "lemme come back."
Look online and I found the eleaf istick for 30, a nautilus mini for 20 (40 in my vape shop), and a drip tip for said nautilus mini for like a dollar and a half (ten at my vape shop). My only complaint is shipping.
So now I patiently wait for my new vape while I make flavors to use on my little baby vape.
got the sigelei 100w and some batts and an orchid v4 clone. just need to make the batteries last until Monday since I had to order a charger online.

The vape shop in my town actually doesn't have crazy markup so it's really nice. They wrap coils, and do builds there for first timers and are really knowledgeable suprisingly. Also do house juice 15$ bottles for 35ml, pretty nice.

update: tried rebuilding, realized that it isnt my thing, i give up
hopefully both the b&ms i went to will let me return this shit. I am not ready for rebuilding yet, I'd rather wait a month until they have the MVP 20 watts and just mate that to a nautilus mini or some shit

You should honestly go for an RDA that is a little more simple, something small like a SIG-S and pick up some kanthal and cotton. It's super simple and low maintenance.

My vape shop is like super chill like if there's a problem with your vape he'll work on it for hours. If he says it's broken shit's fuckin broken. But the markup is still there. I guess they gotta pay for the place somehow.
My friend had an idea to get the shitty juice from 7-11 and to add VG to it and it goes from hitting harsh as fuck to hitting and tasting really good. And I can turn a 15 nic to a 6 and I don't vape high nics anyway so it all works out. Saves me hella on juice.

I mostly vape on high quality juice anyways, 3-6mg of nicotine mostly. If i'm going out i'll grab my 0 nicotine juice so my friends can actually hit my vape. The shop where i'm at has testers everywhereeeeeee, they'll let you test anything you want. If its on the counter you can drip it. You can sit there for as long as you want and just drip flavors
I've had the opposite experience. The local shop owners here are so nice. Just for hanging out and talking to them, asking questions and learning stuff, they've given me and my friend free stuff and they've been more helpful than anything I've read on the internet.
[editline]27th December 2014[/editline]
The only thing I've overpaid for in a shop is wire because that can be found on amazon 100 feet for about 5$.
Shopping online is always a bit sketchy for me.
All depends on the shop I guess, but most shops I've been to are ridiculously marked up.
Although, the staff is usually very friendly and knowledgeable
Boutta buy me one of these bad boys

Got meself this http://availvapor.com/vape-starter-kits/infuse-kit
It's been pretty decent so far
Got my Nemesis and Omega. Looks great, hits wonderfully. Have it running around .8-1 ohms at the moment, already getting alot of vapor even on 70VG/30PG juice. I was gonna pick up a 50pack of .8 ohm coils off of Fasttech and run a dual coil build with them, get some better clouds out of it.
EDIT: Change of plans, picking up Kanthal today and I'm gonna wrap my own instead!
Got 10ml of RY4 Spearmint juice. Is really good. Wanted to try something new since i had a free one
Got my 26650 stainless steel King mech mod and 28.5mm tobh atty v3 in the mail today, but the atty didn't come with post screws, unlike what was advertised on the store page
:(
Edit:
Guy I completely randomly met today at my uni got into a conversation with me about vapes, and he happened to have a spare set of screws for this exact rda. Holy shit yes
Edit 2:
Ok so before I met that random dude I sent an email to the company, explaining that I didn't get any screws with my rda and I was very frustrated blah blah blah
I got a shipment notification from them last night, I think they re-shipped the items I ordered instead of just the screws for free..
[t]http://i.imgur.com/HLyUFbG.png[/t]
When I ordered those exact things it cost me $86.. I just may have gotten another set free... I won't believe it til I get it
I lost my damn kanger protank and vision spinner II setup when someone stole it from me at a party, right out of my damn pocket. and im a bit bummed about it, more about the battery/lost coil as i just put a new one in but oh well.
This at least gives me a new opportunity to pick up a new clearomizer, i'm surviving right now on a spare spinner i had and a plastic chinsy kanger t3s.
Now i get to shop around a bit, i'm still debating though if i'm ready to delve into rebuildables so right now im just looking for something to replace my lost protank 2.
Loving my brass plume veil 4nine setup, the whole vape is microscopic for an 18650, plus with a dual coil it tastes nice and thick.
sanded all the lacquer off and polished my nemesis to a mirror finish. Lookd cool but I might plate over it. Black zinc? Brickght nickel or 24carat gold (also got silver)

Picture time!
I'm really happy with this new setup. 26650 King clone with a 28.5mm tobh atty clone, running dual coils at 0.17 ohms.
The all black setup in the background is my authentic AR mod with a little boy clone on it
[t]http://i.imgur.com/pl4m8vb.jpg[/t]
It's huuuuuuge too, here it is next to the "regular" 18mm tobh atty:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/Ipg1MJz.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/0D9wEBH.gif[/t]
Also, cotton for days in there. I swear to god I put a good 3 ml of juice the first time round before the wick was completely saturated
[t]http://i.imgur.com/N5buOZO.jpg[/t]
Here's my current setup. Single .6 ohm coil on the Omega. I decided to order another RDA with a more open deck on Fasttech. Decided on a Vertex V2 cause pretty much everywhere I read on it, people said it had decent vapor production and was good for flavor, so hopefully that works out better.
On a sidenote, I caught myself chain vaping it, and even though I'm on 0 nic, I felt like shit for a while after. Should I be worried or is it just because I was taking in more vapor than I was oxygen :v:
On a sidenote, I caught myself chain vaping it, and even though I'm on 0 nic, I felt like shit for a while after. Should I be worried or is it just because I was taking in more vapor than I was oxygen :v:
If you literally were taking in more vapor than oxygen, yes, that is why. Otherwise, make sure you properly clean your rda/coil regularly.
You see that black stuff on your coil? Take the cotton out once in a while and pulse the coil, then rinse with cold water and repeat until the black buildup is mostly gone.
I'm not a doctor, but as far as I know it's not all that harmful if at all, so don't worry.
[editline]7th January 2015[/editline]
An unrelated tip: I can see from the two wraps closest to the camera that your coil doesn't heat evenly. Next time you build a coil, before you put a wick in it, pulse it a few times to check it's heating evenly, from the middle-out. If it isn't, pinch it while it's glowing hot with some pliers or tweezers to press the wraps together. It will give you more vapor/flavor for the same resistance
Got some 0.5mm kanthal, it's fuckin lethal. Wrapped a 0.6ohm dual coil andthe smoke was so hot it nearly burnt my lungs out.
How the fuck do you use it? That was 8 wraps on a 2mm bit. 3mm is the same. Do I need more or less wraps?

0.6 ohms and it's burning your lungs? That doesn't sound right. All my builds run under 0.2 ohms, sometimes under 0.1 and I have no problems. What atomizer are you building on? Also, are you using round or ribbon kanthal? Are you sure it's not 0.06 ohms?
Anyway, to answer your question, more wraps means more wire length, which means more resistance, so less heat.
[editline]8th January 2015[/editline]
Oh, and if you have high a nicotine concentration in your liquid (I consider anything 18mg/ml and up to be "high") it can create a burning sensation
Defo 0.6ohms. Never had this problem, been doing it years
I notice on a dry burn it glows for much longer than any othrr wire
I feel like a pheasant. I'm using an istick with an Aspire K1 and I can barely even taste my juices anymore. I'm scared of doing an RBA but the fucking cost of a decent, adjustable airflow tank is at least $30.

Perhaps you have a short in your mod? That's really strange and I can't think of many reasons why it would do that

Why not just build an RDA?
