It's purpose is so it looks the same on every device you go to, its like Facebook when it was redesigning to have the timeline, profiles look weird when they're not universal across all platforms
I remember when channels were simple, well put together and VERY customizable.I don't what asshole they hired to turn the channels into confusing cluster fucks. Channels used to look like this:

Has YouTube just never noticed people complaining...? Do they not SEE that the large, large majority of the people who receive these updates DESPISE them? Do they not realize that people complain? They ask our opinions, our feedback, and it's always negative; we always tell them to "stop changing the layout" and that "it was better before, don't change it" - but have they TRULY every listened to us?
Do they even read their feedback? Who's in charge of delivering it to the designers? Seemingly nobody, or at least someone who should be fired for definitely not doing their job.
I mean, how many people complain? A good 10 million, probably a lot more? How do they NOT notice all the commotion surrounding it, all the negativity?

I have been dealing with this shit from the idiots that run Secondlife for years. its what happens when you have management who have no clue what they are doing, and designers who design for looks and never test how the site is actually used. they blame everyone else and keep producing problems
Youtube has made some good improvements recently. Higher quality videos, bigger video player, thumbnail preview on the timeline, and being able to link to a specific time in the video. I just wish they'd focus more on stuff like that instead of constantly changing the channel design.
UMMMMMM, does you-tube realize that making everybody's channel have the exact same layout option is the complete opposite of being unique? Like, even a person with no brain could realize that shit. I am so angry about this. I love going to peoples channels and being absorbed into their world, with the big graphics and cool characters peaking out from behind the video playlists and stuff.
Fuck you YouTube layout designers, nobody likes you.
