Destroying perfectly functional material is extremely stupid. You should at least sell it or give it away. Furthermore, I think this isn't the best way of handling such a situation. Shouldn't you be assisting your kid instead of shitting on them so they can get better ? This is probably more likely to make them feel bad and continue to go in the wrong direction.
he'll probably grow up hating authority and being a cynical tit if his dad does this too often
Shoulda hammered his dad instead
I'm trying to emphasize that strong statements leave lasting lessons and make people stronger.
Strong statements leave lasting impressions that may or may not be positive and have no inherent value one way or the other. Some may respond positively to this kind of treatment, but others could end up emotionally scarred from repeated instances of a parental figure embarrassing and belittling them. You don't need to be a psychiatrist to understand that.
Not really sure what to say about this. On one hand, he failed, so he deserves punishment. The other says that this kind of punishment is a tad bit extreme, but I'm no parent, so who am I to judge others' parenting methods.
Why does he deserve punishment for failing? that's just the lazy way that will only make the kid hate studying. I don't think that's a healthy approach to learning.
father is a dipshit for buying it in the first place, it's not like the kid got all that stuff on his own
You don't help a demotivated child through punishment. It makes the kid feel as if has he has to perform well to satisfy his father or suffer the consequences imposed on him. Hardly motivational and very stressful for the child. It's better to help him develop a natural will to learn.
I really wish someone walked by and saw what that man was doing to his kid.
Ooof, and he did it to a white 360 too. They don't even make those anymore.
I saw a pile of like 50 for 20 bucks each at a thrift store the other day.
why not just take it away for a couple weeks like a normal parent he probably paid for it too why would he waste his own money like that over elementary school grades
