More like a fat guy at a party sees some people making pizza, so he starts making pizza with really colorful toppings, then accuses the original pizza-makers of taking his pizza "format". People enjoyed his pizza and colorful toppings, so he starts selling them. A few other people at the party start making pizzas with cheaper toppings for free, and people get some form those guys, but it doesn't really impact the fat guy's revenue. He declares that pizza with toppings was his idea, and that you can either join a network where he gets paid for your pizza and makes you use his colorful toppings or he'll sue you, because he trademarked the concept toppings. Everyone at the party is pissed at the fat guy because they don't want a goddamn monopoly on something as innately human as pizza, so he passively-aggressively apologizes, but then people steadily stop buying his pizzas while everyone else exchanges jokes about what a total buffoon the guy is
good point buy you should change pizza network to pizza chain
An Article From Hank Green Hank seems to blame the whole thing on people have hate-boners and love to join hate bandwagons. While that can definitely see that as part of the issue, I feel that they would be a slightly louder minority in this case as the whole idea plus their past actions easily put a bad light on would/could possibly happen if they succeeded with the whole ordeal. One thing that bothered me though was the following sentences: (Bolding by me) Is there any legitimate source for this statement?
I wouldn't go as far to say that this is fueled by anti-semitism by more along the lines of anti-capitalism and drama. Every time a company tries to monetize free content or tries to help others monetize content there's usually a massive outcry towards it (paid skyrim mods, trademarking react, tf2 hats, ect.) unless the company executes it really fucking well. 1 small fuck up can cause an over-dramatic movement that makes paying content creators more difficult because people get upset at the wrong things. React World as a concept is a good thing, it allows people to work alongside youtube creators and get paid producing content. The problem was that the Fine Brothers weren't clear at all about what exactly they're trademarking, and people assumed the worst (like John Green has said in his blog entry) which caused a lot of drama on the internet. And if there's drama on the internet you're going to see as many people try to respond to this as possible, usually with a fuckton of misinformation or just generally echoing what the majority is saying (which is usually absolute hatred) for an easy viewcount. Hating the Fine isn't because people hate jews, people call the fine brothers jews because that's the go-to insult for someone trying to make money.
Newgrounds take on thefinebros fail is pretty good http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/669977
they managed to make james lee, a guy who hasn't done really anything since Tarboy, come back from the dead. truly a powerful being the fine bros are.

okay, looks like its slowing down : (
okay, looks like its slowing down : (
that's ok, the internet can't forget things, even if people can people are going to randomly interject it into conversations awkwardly, and no matter what the fine bro's can't undo every video of every big youtuber shitting on them when a company wants to invest in the fine bro's they're going to google them and find a flood of people shitting on them just look at the Jessica Slaughter incident. Someone googles her and that shows up.
Well, it might have slowed down, but at least the events that took place in the past few days will serve as a lesson to all of the other big Youtubers who plan on doing something similar. I am not against people trademarking and copyrighting their content. On the contrary; I believe people should take full credit for the content they put their effort into making and should be able to protect it. However, what the Fine Bros did was trying to trademark something that they didn't create in the first place. So, this should serve as a lesson for other people who try to do the same in the future. Although I would really like to keep seeing them loosing subscribers, I guess they'll always remain one of the huge channels, no matter how many subscribers they lose. :disappoint:
when it comes to trade marking
to be honest it really blows my mind that anyone could be so evil as to try and do this with any single word. if it's unique, like, lets say, iPhone, or Phonenana, Vitamelts, Vitaminmade or something that's insanely specific to a specific product that it clearly creates a new word, that would be fine, because it clearly creates a totally unique word in and of itself. Especially when its a phrase like "Call of duty" etc. Totally reasonable and I think that these things need to be copyrighted/trademarked so someone can't just make their own game called Call of duty: Black cops". but copyrighting "Ghost" or "React", or "telephone", that idea is just what the FUCK its ESPECIALLY fucked that people attempt to do it to entire common phrases such as "lets play" or "Call of X", or "Dark X", or even "X reacts"
Yes, I totally agree.

I am the only one who is wondering how much more damage the Fine Bros would have suffered from if their disturbing older videos became more wide-spread before they were deleted?
I am the only one who is wondering how much more damage the Fine Bros would have suffered from if their disturbing older videos became more wide-spread before they were deleted?
I have never watched them, but I heard that they were quite disturbing and involved a lot of content that was inappropriate for children. Are their old videos still available somewhere?

What were these videos?
What were these videos?
I think there talking about way past 2009 before this how React thing became a thing
Oh, those? I thought you meant they posted and deleted something highly offensive a long time ago or something
Oh, those? I thought you meant they posted and deleted something highly offensive a long time ago or something
They did. Here's a full reddit post linking to them by "theschizmoexp" which for some reason was deleted off r/videos? Maybe he broke a rule. "Burger King Blowjob" and "Prison Board Rape" links are broken so I didn't link them:
Some (maybe even all) of these may have been mentioned in other comments, but here are links to 4 particularly offensive Fine Brothers videos from way back in the day when they went by Raven Stake (or RavenStake or RavenStake.com). The punchline of each video is a rape joke, or some variation on sexual assault. They’ve taken them all off of their main channel (many of their old videos are unlisted and at least one was outright deleted) but they still exist in other places on the internet, like their official Daily Motion account, or FunnyOrDie, or even a Myspace page. (Some of these are gone now!) Burger King Blowjob where a man is receiving a blowjob and it turns out to be The King, meanwhile his wife is bound and gagged in the corner and the King indicates with a finger pointing gesture that she is his next victim New Year’s Resolution features a stereotypical flamboyant gay couple promising to be less gay, a stereotypical emo kid promising to be less emo while attempting suicide by slitting his wrists with a knife, and a catholic priest who promises to stop molesting children, and then kisses a baby deeply on the mouth. The video ends with the priest saying “well...maybe next year.” then smiles and lowers the baby below the frame to his crotch. How to Shut Girls Up where a man is studying in the library while two girls talk about their problems, and he shuts them up by urinating on their faces for 20 seconds, and THEN asks them if they could keep it down because he is trying to study. Poster Board Rape (temporarily missing until someone re uploads it) is a “Love Actually” parody where two people discover that they both speak through poster boards, everything is great and it’s almost a fun parody until the man holds up a sign reading “I’m going to rape you now” and then enters the house with a terrifying smile on his face and a baseball bat in his hands. I don't have the links handy but there is also a pair of videos titled "the first mothers day" and "the first fathers day" where a woman finds out she is pregnant and is absolutely distraught by it, and then the father finds out she is pregnant and the couple kills themselves. There's another video where a man wearing an American Flag cape has to take a shit, and he has no toilet paper, so he wipes his ass with the American flag. I'm sure there are many other terrible videos, but I unsubscribed from them when they started making those stupid fucking action figure videos. So yeah let’s see kids react to that. EDIT: It seems this caused quite a stir because the accounts have all been taken down. But this is the internet so nothing is really ever gone forever...

Holy fuck. That is fucking disgusting.
if someone uploaded gifs of that to tmblr with the fine bros logo in the corner, chirst that would just as terrifying as watching that video.
Holy fuck. That is fucking disgusting.
I don't know if you watched it but it's a real fucking baby too. Like it's not a plastic prop baby, someone actually allowed their child to be in this video. It's extremely creepy.

Did anyone just notice a huge drop of subscribers? It went from 13,635,781 to 13,635,544 in 2 seconds.
They've lost what now, like 400K.
