Apparently if you edit the .ini files you run into even more issues. The game's FPS will also jump all over the place (won't maintain 60 FPS) even at normal settings with a high-end GPU. Bad PC port basically.
Lmao, while that video certainly shows many flaws and reasons for critique over this new Batman game, there were reasons he used which were completely unjustified. First of all the motion blur. Hardly most annoying, over-the-top motion blur that there is. Second of all, the Batmobile controls. Unless he meant that the controls glitched out because of 120 FPS setting (which I doubt) he simply demonstrated some very bad driving initially. When you jump to 4:54, he drives the car mostly just fine. [editline]23rd June 2015[/editline] As to above, yes I noted in the video as well.. The FPS isn't consistent at all. Plus there are Ass Creed-type glitches in there which are never good.
Oh, there are way worse publishers than WB. Compared to companies like Bethesda and Ubisoft, they have a pretty good track record. One bad PC port isn't the end of the world.
The WB problem goes deeper than "one bad PC port."
Remember the days when PC games went through vigorous QC testing before they were released?
motion blur should never be enabled by defaullt with no option to turn them off besides a ini
yep, agreed. I was just surprised by the amount of emphasis he put on it, when the motion blur wasn't even that noticeable.
What the fuck happened? I remember the ports of Asylum and City being good.
I heard that the guys who ported Arkham Origins were hired for this game. :v:
Holy shit what is wrong with the game?
Objectively: bad performance all round, buggy and 30 fps lock. Subjectively: DLC and pre-order bonuses galore.
I really don't care if these issues will get fixed down the line. The fact that a port THIS bad was pushed out is reason enough for me to not support this game. Stop pre-ordering video games

Stop pre-ordering video games
You don't need to tell gaming forums not to, you need to tell the hoards of people less invested in gaming. Not really sure how the problem is solved, not even sure if it counts as a real problem but pre-order bonuses appeal to people who wouldn't classify themselves as a gamer and therefore don't really follow controversy x and y and haven't really heard of any games outside of big AAA titles.
WB Games has been constantly shitting themselves over PC ports for a while now. Mortal Kombat X was also a disaster, but before that Mortal Kombat 9 and Injustice were also notoriously awful since the multiplayer component doesn't even fucking work, it was broken on day one and it's still broken now. Between this, the live pass debacle with Mortal Kombat 9 and Arkham City, the absolutely god awful season passes, the console locked content and the abusive preorder stuff, WB Games has quite a track record of retarded decisions.

It's not like Steam is going to run out of copies.
Preordering digitally is great for preloading which allows you to actually play when the game comes out and not ten hours later, but you should only do it when you know the game's gonna be good (or when you just don't care and know you'll play the game regardless). Preordering games that only look mildly okay or a bit risky is a dumb idea.
I preordered the game, and even I laughed at it but probably because its somewhat less painful because I can get the game running on my 760 to a somewhat good extent at the lowest settings.
Ever since the disaster Arkham Origins became I've learned not to pre order anything from WB again. And now I see that I was right to do so.
Is optimisation hard or something? Or are they just really lazy?
Is optimisation hard or something? Or are they just really lazy?
WB games probably gave them a small deadline and ordered them not to bother with the PC port and instead focus on profitable stuff like console-locked content.

That just takes away time from the actual game. Before people blame Rocksteady or WB as a monolithic whole, Iron Galaxy did the port for this. WB didn't pay much attention to PC games in the past, so they don't own any studios strictly for porting. They have to go through contract grabbing shit houses like High Voltage and Iron Galaxy. When the release date hits, you ship the game. Even if it's a horrible mess. WB knows this is a problem and is shifting stance away from 'console first PC later' because of it.

It's also their decision to shower the game in preorder shit, $40 season passes and console exclusive content.
It's still WB Games' fault for picking shady-ass incompetent companies to port their games to save time and money.
There aren't any GOOD porting studios other than Nixxes, and they work for Squenix. Trust me, trying to outsource this shit is a nightmare. You have to pick your poison.
It's also their decision to shower the game in preorder shit, $40 season passes and console exclusive content.
Welcome to gaming in 2015?
WB has been putting console exclusives in their games since 2009 (Asylum had a PS3 exclusive set of levels back then) and supported the very shortlived trend of live passes back in 2011 when they locked out parts of the game to people who bought used copies. Mortal Kombat 9 was also the second game to ever feature a season pass (first one was LA NOIRE), and very few publishers have divided preorder bonuses between so many stores as much as WB. WB Games didn't hop on a shitty bandwagon to make money just this year, they've been pioneering in retarded decisions since 2009.

I guess that's why companies always offer a little something extra with a pre-order, because they, too, know it's absolutely pointless. I wish people weren't so shallow and stopped doing it altogether. I get Pre-ordering a collector's edition, but that's because you want the physical item that there will be limited runs of. Pre-Ordering a digital product that has no finite number? Why? Fucking why? So you can play 30 minutes quicker when it releases 4 months later? You're basically gambling the better half of a hundred dollars (more for you poor Aussie bastards). And in this case, requirements even got changed hours before launch. Hope you weren't skirting the requirements and based your decision on that. Not that it really matters anyway because the performance is so fucking terrible
My game was never frame locked(unless the insane frame counter lies) and runs well on my 680 on low settings. No performance issues here. I feel bad for those that are suffering because the game is awesome
Only reason I didn't preorder was because I waited to get all the content with GOTY editions like I had the previous 2 games. Looks like I lucked out, at least for the moment.
I'm planning to get it at some point, but I want to gauge just how long Iron Galaxy takes to make the game a pc port. If any of you bought Mortal Kombat X at launch how long did it take them to patch it up to playable? And if it still isn't, how many performance and bug-related patches have they rolled out?
Time to get this on my PS4 then. I have no faith in my laptop anymore anyway.
Only reason I didn't preorder was because I waited to get all the content with GOTY editions like I had the previous 2 games. Looks like I lucked out, at least for the moment.
For these kinds of games, that's usually the wisest strategy. It's why you'd be wiser to get the Sims 3 GOTYE than to grab Sims 4, or get the complete version of Civ 5 rather than splash out on Beyond Earth right now. There are a myriad of other games out there vying for your time, thanks to the insane availability of digital products and the intense modding scene for some games, and if a new game doesn't have enough to reel you in, let alone be functional by the PC standard, a smart PC gamer will send it back and wait until it's done properly. You wouldn't accept your eggs sunny-side up if you ordered yours well-done, and you wouldn't accept a buggy incomplete piece of undercooked nonsense if you wanted to have proper value for your money. But since Valve doesn't give back their 30%, demanding a refund will force WB to pay back exactly what they charged you, giving us an avenue for properly punishing these unacceptable practices.
The games buggy. Not flat out broken.
I pre-ordered Arkham Knight because I thought hell, Rocksteady has literally never fucked up, I trust them enough to buy day one, and I get some extra content for free with it. Why not? I guess they shOWED ME
The games buggy. Not flat out broken.
your head is so far up your own arse man, you're in denial the game IS broken, FOR MANY PEOPLE. JUST because it runs perfectly hunky doory on your computer, doesn't mean others aren't having problems. Step outside your own box. I don't even own the game, but I'd be absolutely pissed if I spent near a days earnings on this game, when it's so HORRIBLY put together, and it's obvious.
yep, agreed. I was just surprised by the amount of emphasis he put on it, when the motion blur wasn't even that noticeable.
Some of us are a bit more sensitive for it. I get serious headaches with dof's, motion blurs or headbobs. Not being able to turn them off makes the game unplayable over more than 15-20 mins max.
