I had a King Thayer snake. She was the most friendly thing on the face of the planet! You only have to feed them and clean their cage once per week. And she wasn't very big. Snakes are great pets all in all.

I have two cats and a dog, and prefer my dog much more than my cats.

Cats are pretty much the biggest assholes as far as pets go. If there's any pet that just sees you as a tool, it's a cat.

Snakes are nice for the cool factor, but your not going to get an animal that shows emotion by any means. If they had the chance, they would eat you in a heartbeat because you are a mammal. Personally, I would get a cat.
