You hopeless with your tool song? How about me hopeless with my winner song. Its more like a wiener song compared to this stuff.
At least we have our concepts clear and complete :smug:
You hopeless with your tool song? How about me hopeless with my winner song. Its more like a wiener song compared to this stuff.
Hey at least your song can be symbolized with a rating. The closest anything that I could compose to would come to would be the Dumb rating. :saddowns: Here's a song I've spent the last 45 or so minutes working on. No vocal line yet (instrument showing where vocals are and what they do); I do those last, though rest assured the song is actually fitted to my quasi-vocals. No bass yet either, or any extraneous instruments (such as keyboards and synths, though this song probably won't have any), and the song isn't finished. At the rate it is going, unless I decide to pull an Opeth and add a 4-minute musical tangent, or pull a Dream Theater and include a 7-minute solo, end song will probably be right around the five-minute mark. Note that the song isn't being made for a rating, but is just a sample. :v: Don't sue me if your ears begin to bleed or you suffer an aneurysm because of the shittiness of it. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8416055/Numb.mp3 Notes: The equalization is shit because I don't know how to operate an EQ. It just has a bit of bass/mid/high boost on the drums, bass/mid on the guitar, and then an acoustic EQ post-editing in Audacity. Normalized to -3db. A note drags occasionally because my computer lagged there while recording. The Chinese cymbals in the chorus may find themselves replaced, because to be fair, they're really fucking obnoxious. Finally, fuck music theory - I compose entirely by ear and by tab editor. :smug: Lyrics Thus Far
This black venom Coursing through my veins Killing all the feelings And replacing with pain I can’t hear, I can’t see, I can’t think I can’t comprehend the state of myself Everywhere I turn, the image is burned A raging inferno seared into my mind I close my eyes and try to escape myself But your shadow is always following me So perfect, so wonderful, yet still just a shade A shell of all the things we once had made So turn the valve and release the poison The gas slowly fills the room My eyes water and my throat is burning Can’t possibly endure this agony As my body grows weak and my vision goes black I finally feel a sense of reprieve The gas finally dominates my lungs I have finally become numb To the pain of your heartless words
hey that isn't actually bad at all what's the tempo of that i'm dying to give a shot at the vocals :allears: actually could you possibly give me the unmastered tracks once you're done with them? i could mix and master them for you if you can't do it
fucking slowpunch
Comfortably Dumb
Comfortably Dumb
This is genius. I want to see someone do it, actually. :v:
hey that isn't actually bad at all what's the tempo of that i'm dying to give a shot at the vocals :allears: actually could you possibly give me the unmastered tracks once you're done with them? i could mix and master them for you if you can't do it
Waaaaaaaaat? The tempo is 105; in retrospect I probably should have just upped the tempo for the chorus, but I'm using triplet sixteenths for the kick as of right now. What kind of vocals can you do? The vocals I had in mind were three degrees of harshness (Universum-style screams, Threat Signal-style screams (like at 0:19), and Dark Age-esque cleans (at 0:58) ) And sure, I can do that. When you say unmastered tracks, do you mean you want me to give you each instrument part separately (record each by itself through GuitarPro), or simply give you the recorded GP piece without any post-processing in Audacity? I'll also give you the GP5 file, though I don't know if you can do anything with it. If you want, of course.
Tool, Success. :smug:
or simply give you the recorded GP piece without any post-processing in Audacity?
this, in .wav format preferrably also my vocals are somewhat lower than those examples. best styles i can pull of are low growls and a high-pitched black metal vocals.
Why am I not on the "on-board" list yet :smith:
Oh, you didn't call a rating so I didn't put you in :smithicide:
If someone else wants to have a go at making the artisctic-rating song I'm all cool with that. I'm gonna try figuring something out but it's quite hard :v:
this, in .wav format preferrably also my vocals are somewhat lower than those examples. best styles i can pull of are low growls and a high-pitched black metal vocals.
Hey it's fine. Beggars can't be choosers, right? I should be more than content with someone actually considering trying to do vocals for me. :buddy: With that being said, what all rating should I try making a song for? I suppose it can't hurt anything in my trying. I'm kinda leaning toward the GMF's Mustache rating. It's the one that seems mostly like to be metal. :v: Though I could do the Late/clock rating, too. Makes me think of Dagoba... It's aaaaaaaaaaall abooout tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime
Okay... tried something along "Artistic" lines. I don't intend to put it in the album for two reasons: 1. I haven't listened to it yet :smug: 2. I don't want to hog space on the album I only spent the duration of the track's worth making this, so don't expect greatness. Tell me what you think. Listen through headphones, I recommend. And if you get through the WHOLE track... you deserve credit.
I like it, how'd you make it? Also, I deserve a credit.. x 2. Also, I'm excited to record "Agree" with my new guitar and mic. Woooo
Trying something for Zing, I'll report back in a bit
Shouldn't we do a proggy thing for the artistic rating? I mean, we could really collaborate for it. We could add like this weird as hell instruments and time signatures.
it should be 84 minutes long.
Shouldn't we do a proggy thing for the artistic rating? I mean, we could really collaborate for it. We could add like this weird as hell instruments and time signatures.
Yes. Care to give it a go? :smug:
Yes. Care to give it a go? :smug:
Sure thing, I know enough music theory and I've got a guitar with a nice distortion. I just need someone to do the drum lines.
Well if you want completely random instrumentation, I can give a hand and make something. How long of a sample do you guys want? I'll be sure to use a lot of strange time signatures, too (7/16, fuck yeah. :v:) I'm thinking of trying to make something like UneXpecT. It'd be more experimental/avant-garde as opposed to proggy, but whatever. :downs:
Preferibably something that switches styles, but keep it rather consistent, Unexpect is kinda...Too chaotic. It'd be nice to have something that's clearly not metal with different metal styles, like, bossa nova and jazz combined with thrash and speed.
I have decided to try making a Stoner / Drone song for the Drugs Discussion rating. Wish me luck. :v: (If only GuitarPro had a didgeridoo instrument...) [editline]Fish[/editline] Well, I got started with a nice stoner / drone intro, but as soon as I began to integrate the drums, it quickly devolved into a kind of stoned groove song. Here's what I got so far, roughly a minute. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8416055/Stoner.mp3
This is my durgsd song, it's a hippie singing, in case you couldn't tell.
Click here for a quick thing I whipped up. Thats what I think artistic is going to sound like.
I'm testing some stuff out for "Artistic" [editline]6th March 2011[/editline] Let me know how this would sound for artistic: http://www65.zippyshare.com/v/91968888/file.html Wait for the chorus, it's a slow buildup :)

Trust me :v: [editline]6th March 2011[/editline]
I'm testing some stuff out for "Artistic" [editline]6th March 2011[/editline] Let me know how this would sound for artistic: http://www65.zippyshare.com/v/91968888/file.html Wait for the chorus, it's a slow buildup :)
Words, can't describe that dude... How's that fair, you must be some professional recording artist or something. :psyduck:
Words, can't describe that dude... How's that fair, you must be some professional recording artist or something. :psyduck:
:o Shall I continue then?
I want to try to make a little intro "song" after all the songs have been put together and submitted. Just something simple, nothing special.
:o Shall I continue then?
As you were. :smugdog: [editline]6th March 2011[/editline]
I want to try to make a little intro "song" after all the songs have been put together and submitted.
