The only thing more cringe-worthy than trying to watch Pixels is trying to sit through 10 minutes of a grown man coming up with exaggerated complaints and threats of violence at an 10th grade level.
At least the CGI looks kind of neat I guess.
i was gonna check pixels out to see how bad they fucked it up but apparently everyone is saying its not even worth it for that

Friends and I want to see a shitty movie this friday and it's a tossup between this or Terminator 5

You can't ironically watch a bad comedy. Bad tragedies are comedic; bad comedies are tragic.
You can't ironically watch a bad comedy. Bad tragedies are comedic; bad comedies are tragic.
Considering the classic definition of comedy and tragedy... Yeah, I guess ending up on the other end of the scale than you intended is a failure.
Friends and I want to see a shitty movie this friday and it's a tossup between this or Terminator 5
Why would you want to see a shitty movie when you can watch a good movie?
Friends and I want to see a shitty movie this friday and it's a tossup between this or Terminator 5
i feel like there's very few "so bad it's good" comedies, most good terrible movies are ones that take themselves seriously
i feel like there's very few "so bad it's good" comedies, most good terrible movies are ones that take themselves seriously
Comedy really doesn't make for "so bad it's good" because "so bad it's good" largely comes from something wanting to be taken seriously when it can't, when comedy goes bad it's because it wants you to not take it seriously, but taking it nonseriously isn't funny.
Like Yahtzee
Except Yahtzee is actually funny on occasion and can raise a valid point when he needs to. MovieBob is just a screaming man child analogous to your average rabid sonic fanboy/OC.
Why would you want to see a shitty movie when you can watch a good movie?
Because there's none out right now? Other than Mr. Holmes and Southpaw but those aren't at the theaters we go to yet (for some reason)
Considering what's been happening behind the scenes for Ridiculous Six, I'm not in the least surprised that this movie's a shitshow. Adam Sandler's movies have always been shitshows. The only two movies I'll ever give him credit for are Click and 50 First Dates, and even 50 First Dates doesn't hold up as well as it used to.

Why would you want to give Adam Sandler money

Watch this to laugh at the constant regret in Peter Dinklages face.
Two minutes of sharp-tongued witty insulting without actually speaking about the movie itself. Turned it off at that point. Not really feeling the whole 'it's so bad I gotta exaggerate it' play, I'd rather he just get to the point on the movie's flaws and stuff.

Ant-man?
Ant-man?
Yeah, go see Ant-Man. The trailers did not have me interested but the movie turned out to be really enjoyable.

The problem with bad comedies is that sharp-tongued witty insulting is really what you have to do to review them, because all there really is to actually say about it is "that's not funny" over and over again.

True true, fair enough. Guess I just wasn't in the mood earlier, either.

And to think that two people I know wanted to see this film, I wrote it off after Adam Sandler appeared.
I've been telling everyone I know that Adam Sandler is an unfunny prick but I guess a lot of people just feel nostalgia for him or something. I don't know. All I really liked was Mr. Deeds. Even if it had the prototype Adam Sandler formula. "Oh man i'm just a quirky older dude who's suddenly tossed into this weird situation with a love interest! How will my earnest, honest self deal with any of this? Welp, thank god i'm such a good guy to get me through it, and we all learned a valubale lesson and my love interest is in love with me and man look at how modest I am!"

Or how 8 crazy nights switched it up for "WOW I SURE AM AN ASSHOLE LOOK HOW MUCH OF AN ASSHOLE I AM HERE'S SOME PRODUCT PLACEMENT"
Bit of an overreaction but yeah.. kinda sucks that "haha I recognize that" is the humor that wins people over.

I wouldn't say it won people over tbh, considering that it bombed pretty hard at the box office and most people are hating it.
The YouTube comments connecting this as equivalent to an Angry Video Game Nerd rant are pretty apt. I gotta say, while I'm not a big fan of the "THIS IS LIKE A BLANK TOOK A BLANK ON MY BLANK AND THEN BLANKED" style critique, he didn't say anything really questionable in this review. I'm pretty much in agreement that this took the modern / mainstream love of video games movement that things like Scott Pilgrim started a giant step in the wrong direction. This is mindless reference-based humor, and I think he knocked it out of the park to call out that scene of "Pac-Man's creator getting bitten hahaha shoot this fucking thing!!!" as disrespecting its source material.
I've never heard of Moviebob prior, and based on the first few replies in this thread it doesn't sound like I want to know him after this review. Let's just all take solace in the fact that this titanically shit movie could bring together unlikely allies for a few minutes. Fuck I hate Adam 'living embodiment of America's lowest common denominator' Sandler.

I've seen you and a few other posters mention this, so I just want to point out for reference for those who don't know, regardless of whether you intend to watch any of his other work: this is not his usual style of reviewing. Even when he's been angry before, he's fairly restrained in his anger (at least in his movie reviews, which - to be fair - are the only works of his I care to watch) and doesn't really resort to colorful metaphors of this extent. Again, I have never seen him this furious.
Holy fuck this video is 22 hours old and has over 100k more views than his next video thats 3 years old.
But yeah this is about the result everyone expected. Anyone who has half a lobe working in their head can see this movie was just the personification braindead manchild who's currently being fed nostalgia through a straw to keep him alive and was targeted at idiots who want to see it for that reason alone. I really hope it flops horribly.

Well, looks like you've gotten your wish. It's a critical disaster and the opening weekend only made back about 3% of what it cost to make.
