I think something there's something that should be said: Don't go see this movie, even as a joke. The money you paid to watch it is the same no matter your intent going to see it.
Well, looks like you've gotten your wish. It's a critical disaster and the opening weekend only made back about 3% of what it cost to make.
that's just in South Korea...
but yeah, I also hope this flops when it releases worldwide
Considering what's been happening behind the scenes for Ridiculous Six, I'm not in the least surprised that this movie's a shitshow. Adam Sandler's movies have always been shitshows. The only two movies I'll ever give him credit for are Click and 50 First Dates, and even 50 First Dates doesn't hold up as well as it used to.
I secretly enjoyed Terry Crews in Blended even if the rest of the movie was horrible sexist, racist schlock. So he has that going for him at least.
can guarantee you that the product placement and whatnot that the happy madison hackfrauds use recouped the costs enough to keep the shit machine rolling
This may be true, but hopefully if the trend continues and the movies simply don't sell advertisers may back out if they aren't getting a good return.
Who are we kidding though, that won't happen.
I'm going to watch RLM do this because this seems like a overreaction.

Well now it makes sense why this guy went ballistic on this movie when otherwise most people would just shrug and go, "what'd you expect?"
[editline]23rd July 2015[/editline]
Also noticed this review at 500k views has garnered more then double the views of his second most viewed video in only 1 day, even though he has videos from 8 years ago.
Like holy hell that is a popularity jump.
Moviebob reminds me of Andrew Dobson (aka Tom Preston).

I'm really glad that Moviebob stopped doing the Gameoverthinker series he had this little fairy always applauding and endorse his shitty arguments and opinions which really made my blood boil.

ant man is great
I knew this movie was going to be absolute horseshit from the start, but I wasn't expecting it to be below absolute horseshit.
The funny thing is that I had a huge suspicion that this was an Adam Sandler movie despite having not confirm that till now.

These critics need to be fired. These reviews are literally "just shut your brain off and have fun lol"

I just can't wait to see if Mark Kermode will get his teeth into it. He has some extremely funny gold from his ranting

Hold the fuck on, Moviebob.
"They passed over an actually interesting point, that being that our culture is so obsessed with war, competition, and the winner-loser binary, why wouldn't someone mistake it for a declaration of war?"
Because that would be fucking stupid.
Like, seriously? Seriously, Bob? Seriously? You actually think that some alien race declaring war because "oh no, Call of Duty isn't played by offering flowers to everyone" is an interesting idea for a movie?
And what's with this word salad "oppressively, endlessly, bald-faced cynical about its disingenuous appropriation of its own supposed reason for existing"? No matter how he uses that, it sounds like he's just jacking off a thesaurus, but he's not even using it right. He puts that phrase right in front of his "this movie has no jokes outside of referential humor" rant. It might make sense if he put in front of the bit about how Sandler's character arc is "old gaming is dumb, new gaming is cooler", but he didn't. Bad editing causing him to misplace that, or just trying to sound smart without understanding what he's saying?
Wait, scratch that, the latter is true no matter what. So it's really just a question of the former.
For that rant: he complains that "there's no jokes outside of referential humor", and then shows us an actual joke from the movie right afterwards.
Speaking of which, he calls the joke about the creator of Pacman - where he mistakenly thinks a violent alien imitating Pacman would actually care about anything other than eating shit - "disrespecting the source material"...
but likes Other M and thinks it follows the source material well?
No, I'm not going to stop bringing up how Moviebob likes Other M.
Because it's bewildering.
Sure, he makes some good points about the movie, but you know what they say about broken clocks: even they can point out that Adam Sandler isn't funny.
this and the ridiculous six are like, a whole new level for adam sandler though. like, he's always been the generic cash-in type, but i've never seen him riding on the success of similar movies so blatantly before
i've never seen him riding on the success of similar movies so blatantly before
Is it really that blatant, though? "Wreck-It Ralph" was similar in that both movies are 'about video games' but one is about arcade game characters living in arcade games and the other is about middle-aged dudes fighting off an alien invasion. And as much as people like Futurama, I doubt that a plot approximately similar to ten minutes of a cartoon that aired over a decade ago is the wholesale ripoff/cash-in that people are decrying it as.

sure the videogame-themed concept might not be unique enough to say with complete certainty that it's a blatant ripoff, but how many successful videogame-themed (worse, 80s arcade themed) movies have we even had in the last few years? i don't think it's far-fetched to say that they might've had the idea while looking at the success of wreck-it-ralph. same reason why i brought up this is the end; sure, disaster movies aren't that uncommon but have there really been that many -if any- successful comedy disaster movies in the last 5 years?
80s nostalgia (even for people who weren't alive in the 80s) is big right now
80s nostalgia (even for people who weren't alive in the 80s) is big right now
I don't know if you noticed, but '80s nostalgia has been big for about the past fifteen years.
I don't know if you noticed, but '80s nostalgia has been big for about the past fifteen years.
Yeah but for some reason now more than ever it's really picking up speed.
Yeah but for some reason now more than ever it's really picking up speed.
Cause the movies raking in big bucks are made for people who were kids in the 80's and 90's. It's that whole 'second childhood' thing Simon Pegg talked about.
I've been telling everyone I know that Adam Sandler is an unfunny prick but I guess a lot of people just feel nostalgia for him or something. I don't know. All I really liked was Mr. Deeds. Even if it had the prototype Adam Sandler formula. "Oh man i'm just a quirky older dude who's suddenly tossed into this weird situation with a love interest! How will my earnest, honest self deal with any of this? Welp, thank god i'm such a good guy to get me through it, and we all learned a valubale lesson and my love interest is in love with me and man look at how modest I am!"
Or maybe *gasp* some people actually find him funny!
Humor is the most subjective form of art.
80s nostalgia (even for people who weren't alive in the 80s) is big right now
But why put it in a formulaic movie with Kevin James and Adam Sandler? That's just like what happens in this video:
