I am assuming you have already graduated college and have taken the maximum amount of student debt?
If not, look up your local community college and fill out a FAFSA, the government will send you a check when the semester starts. Some of the grant money you won't even have to pay back.
I went to College in Delhi, thankfully! And no I have not in response to the reddit thing. I try to frequent reddit as least as i can.
Also thanks Rich
If worse comes to absolute worst, I do know of a guide to being homeless (and we're talking full on living out in the streets kind of homeless), but sadly I can't seem to find it at all anymore. I think it was wrote by /k/ or something, but it's been too long. I'm still trying to find it.

This is all I could find but it gives you a general idea of the things you might need to do: http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread353292/pg1?ref=patrick.net
I just hope it doesn't come to this, but sometimes you have to be prepared for the worst.
Don't lose hope.

It'll be more appropriate to tell him not to lose his confidence or optimism.
there are tons of homeless shelters
Say hi to Ryu-Gi for me
Also i didn't have any money, What i did have i spent on weed, < But i only did that because i knew i'd have a home again soon. When i was outside at night i had to avoid cops because of the area, Also i found a nice spot in the woods to stay when i wasn't staying with friends (which can be dangerous), Rain sucked.
I Hope my experience helps alittle bit, Oh also stay possitive And motivated! :)
Please don't spend all your money on drugs OP, but rather spend it on something smart.
Being Homeless in the US isnt that hard nor is it the end of the world. At least from my experience from being a young white male. (And yes, race, age and gender matters A LOT when you are living on the streets.) Doesnt hurt to be good looking either.
First thing is first. It sounds like you are in some legal trouble. You got a citation for whatever amount. You need to take care of that. Its not goingggg awayyyy. Its just going to get worse. Just go downtown. Get in line. Talk to the judge. Plead the citation. Just tell them that there is no way that you are going to pay it. You are homeless and without income. Usually the judge will lower it or put it on some kind of payment plan. If its gotten to the point where it is so delinquent or you did a (NO SHOW) that you have a warrant for your arrest. Go down and turn yourself in on your own time. So some cop doesn't mess with you later down the road and bust you on the spot. You might have some jail time or community service. IF given the option. TAKE THE JAIL TIME. Its a free meal and a place to sleep. COMMUNITY SERVICE BLOWS DONKEY ****. Trust me. Most jails arent too terrible. Some are... It just depends. One of the times I went to jail. They served make your own burritos 2 days while i was there. THEY WERE DELICIOUS.
Try to keep your car. Find somewhere you can park it. This is the best asset you have. Especially if you are in an area that isn't that homeless friendly. You are 21 it really isnt that hard to find any job that will keep you afloat. So, im assuming this is going to be a temporary stint of homelessness. If so, try to live out of your car however you can. Walmart Parking lots, Church parking lots, hotels after midnight and before 9am and other 24 hour places are easy places to blend in and camp in your car overnight. If you find a nice quiet discrete place. You can think of buying a car cover. The key to not being bothered is waking up early and parking a places late at night.
Since your license is revoked. moving the vehicle will be risky.(more legal troubles). But if you can find somewhere to park long term and live. ITS GREAT.
A sidenote: If your license is revoked your name goes into the database. But Tennessee, Wisconsin, Georgia, Michigan, and Massachusetts arent participants in this database. So you can move to one of these states and most likely get a license.
If you are going to sell the car. Then invest that money into a large backpack. tarps, and thermal sleeping bag, good durable shoes. Find some pots and pans and cutlery that can go in the backpack.
Im not a fan of homeless shelters nor am I a fan of sleeping in city streets. Thats for drug addicts, runaways, and mentally ill. You probably dont have the skills to handle situations involving other homeless people. So id say stay away.
I like to find wooded areas that are far enough away from people to not get messed with or found, but close enough so that its not more than an hour walk to.
You are going to need to find a water source. Public drinking fountains are key. Get 1 or 2 culligan jugs. Walk in, fill up and leave. Its nice if you are near a local university or community college. You will blend in even if your clothes are ragged. You can also usually capitalize on their internet. Lots of college students leave logged in to their terminals and you can easily charm someone into allowing you access to one under their id. This way you have an opportunity to search for employment. Also there is a high chance you can make some friends and expand your social circle. You can also grab a meal once in awhile by standing in the line for student chow and asking people to swipe their card for you because you forgot yours.
Nothing like being homeless to break you out of your comfort zone and start talking to people. You have nothing to lose at all. You can pretend to be whoever you want. I used to go to college bars when i was living in the woods. NO PROBLEM. I ended up meeting a chick and moving in with her for 4 months.
As for food and money making schemes that will tide you over while you are homeless. Most of my tips are borderline legal grey area tricks. That I wont risk sharing over forums. Cuz ill prob get modded or something stupid.
Donating plasma will net you about 60-90 bucks if you donate twice a week. You also get some snacks when you do it.
Begging can work. But there are enough people carrying around signs in Portland asking for money.
I like asking for money better. Tell people you need some change for the meter while standing next to a car that isn't yours. Approach people at a parking lot with lots of other people. Come in from the side so they don't see you walking up to them and never approach from behind. Come in from the side. Say "Hey, can you help me?" Its best if they are a little surprised and caught off guard. Tell them a story. It helps if you talk quickly and act stressed out. It also helps to use lots of numbers. For some reason. 90% of people will get super uncomfortable the second you start talking to them really fast and throw some figures at them. Some kind of math aversion people have. Anyways, its this discomfort that will make them give you money. They will give you money rather than trying to figure out what your story entails. Its an autopilot decision.
Also try to find a place to get clean. Some public swimming pools are cheap and they have showers. You can get a gym membership. (expensive). Rivers are always good. Some soap out of the dispenser at a public restroom has never hurt either.
Being homeless is freeing. You will pick up social skills, entrepreneurial skills, get better with money, and you will humble yourself. Don't lose focus, dont pity yourself, dont get depressed. You can have some great times while homeless. Anyways thats al for now. If ou want you can pm me. LATER

Some notes.
1) Thrift stores are your friend. Honestly. Your local Goodwill or Salvation Army will have plenty of pots/pants/cutlery on any day, and they are overflowing with cheap pairs of jeans and shirts that probably fit you if you are average build.
2) At least around here, the library system has computers with internet access you can use. Check your library, but a library card may be free in your area. Also reading material is always nice.
3) We had a thread full of scams that the OP likely won't be able to do, but the stuff posted there was downright illegal at times. You should be fine posting it.
Having a phone is extremely useful in day to day life. Your local Walmart will have $10-$20 prepaid cell phones. They won't be Android or anything fancy, but they let you text and call. You should get some minutes with the phone, but you should check on that.
Never gamble your money. Ever. You will lose. If a deal seems too good to be true, it is and will always be.
Again, drugs are a terrible idea. Even if it's something relatively safe and inexpensive as weed, it's an expenditure that you don't need to make.
Like I said, the library is a great place to go if you have access to one. Reading is a great substitution for the internet, and they should have computers, power outlets, magazines, sofas, and occasionally TVs.
Truck stops along interstates, at least in the south, have free showers. You won't get soap or anything, but it's sanitary warm water. Buy a towel.
If you are going to live out in the woods, read all the guides in the world. You NEED to be worried about cuts, scrapes, bites, and anything that could possibly carry a disease. You don't want to go to a hospital with next to no money, no home, and no contacts.
If you have good charisma and looks, getting more friends is always a sure way to go. If they understand your situation, they may offer you a meal or a place to stay for a few days. Don't trust strangers offering meals or a place to stay, but you should have learned that in like 1st grade.
Try to stay out of jail for anything more than not immediately paying off your car. An employer seeing that you took some time for squatting will ruin job interviews outside of shady places.
If you somehow find yourself in Norway, I'd let you stay for a while in my room. Hope stuff works out bro.

I don't know what to recommend other than reading some peoples experiences and guides on being homeless. I'd recommend everyone to do this actually. There's some really useful shit you can learn. Stuff that will help you turn 1 dollar into 10 on the streets (in a legal and safe way of course).
Being homeless with a car can still be a great thing.
Also, there are ways to have a job without having them find out that you are homeless, and still be able to receive mail, calls, etc. All really useful stuff.

Young nigga move that dope.
calm down
Damn, wish I could help you, but I live in Florida.
Living in the woods for even short periods of time takes a lot of money, which includes medical supplies, food, proper clothing, firearms, ammunition, tools, and more. A good 72-hour kit for me costs a fuckton of money. If you don't have money or experience you probably shouldn't go innawoods.
Don't do any last-ditch efforts to scrounge for money, just focus on getting yourself into a situation in which you're going to be able to get back into a home. Drug addictions are the last things you want to do, don't even smoke pot, it'll end up sucking your money out. Don't get into crime, don't pickpocket, rob houses, etc because people like me will end up shooting you in the face.
If you have friends, stay with them. If you don't, go to other forums for the local area and Reddit, there will always be people willing to help you out and give you a place to stay until you can find a job, or get yourself into a stable situation. However, you should meet them, try talking with them, get to know them before doing so. If they start acting sketchy do a 360 and get out of there.
Just pointing it out: Doing a 360 would get you looking back at the sketchy guy again. It would be a 180.
EDIT: I just realized I might have bumped a old thread.....

Ever thought about writing a book? I enjoyed the shit out of that post.
I would keep the car since with the car you have a "Perm Sleeping area" but if you sell it for money and go rent an apartment or something you may not last long enough,
Best thing to do is keep the car live there and use whatever money you have for food right now and try and find a Job or two.

Bookmarked, straight up.
I'm headed to uni next year so money is one of my biggest worries, and appearantly getting my retail job transferred there is really difficult. This post really puts my mind at ease. I'll be doing a Computer Science course so as long I can keep a laptop with me, my life shouldn't too disrupted if my account hits zero.
I'll guess I should at least tell a story too-
Older friend of mine from Scouts. For some extra dosh on top of his meager benefits, he ran his own bamboo and garlic plantation at back of a local Scout camp. In return for him maintaining the radios and computers used for big camps like JOTA/JOTA, the groundsman would let him borrow tools, water, mulch and scrap materials. Dunno how much he was making from it but he eventually bought a trailerhouse and payed some money to live on the camp. Built himself a greenhouse and expanded his plant variety, also got a cheap pump from one of the friends he made down at the local markets. He's about 22 now and accepted a scholarship for agriculture, because he decided his original plans of aerospace engineering seemed boring compared to this :v:
If you have no luck finding a job apply for unemployment and stay at a motel where 'rent' will be cheaper. Also since your 20 the military will probably be your best/last option.
