Wasn't it us Dutchman supposed to protect those civillians? God I'm ashamed for that shit.. ):
TBH, the UN peacekeepers are kind of a fucking joke, what with this, stupidly giving up their weapons in Rwanda only to be macheted in the face. They'd do more good if they didn't exist.
I expected to be inspired when I entered this thread (pictures of huge construction projects and human accomplishments in general). Instead, I left with a frown. To be honest, I'm still shaking from that picture on the first page That stare.. My god.

Terrible way to die
The article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2120427/Tibetan-protester-set-sustained-98-burns-dies-hospital-injuries.html It would be nice if everyone could post the source for further reading.
More of Japan, I've been looking for this video for a while now. It shows just how quickly that tsunami took over acres and acres of land.
Sorry it seems i was completely wrong earlier about the Yugoslav wars, i had a long talk with my father over the phone and i really picked his brain and here is how it goes. also more pictures of the conflict would be appreciated. First, Slovenia tries to break off of Yugoslavia, which causes the so called leader of Yugoslavia Serbia to mobilize its troops stationed in Slovenia, Slovenia in turn mobilizes their "home guard" there were tanks placed in roads and roadblocks established, total deaths were somewhere around 10-12. The the Serbian "Yugoslavia" troops, pulled out of Slovenia once their declaration of independence was declared. The troops pulled out to Croatia, where heavy fighting took place on the borders to Serbia, The Serbian troops pulled further out to the edge of the Serbian/Croatian border. From there Bosnia and Herzegovina decided that they were having a crisis with religion, basically in the city of Sarajevo a very heated situation was going on, there were Muslims, Catholics, Jews and Christians all living in the same city, mosques, synagogues, and churches all not 200m from each other, Serbia pulled all its "people" basically the Catholics and Christians out, and began shelling (very heavily) civilian districts of Muslims and Jews. This is just an outline of the major events, there was still thousands of war crimes committed, but this is the basics of the events that occurred.
For the record, Catholics are Christians.
Yeah, sorry about that I just noticed, I meant to say other branches of Christianity, no idea why I wrote that,
Not as important as a lot of the photos in this thread, but still more so than others.
First television appearance of the president (Truman) [editline]30th April 2012[/editline] The time Kennedy broke Nixon. People who listened to the debates on radio thought Nixon did the best answering, but on television, he was sweating like a pig due to the hot lights in the studio, making him look terrible - and so people watching the debate on television thought Nixon was a weak, sickly person to run for president.
Serbia pulled all its "people" basically the Catholics and Christians out,
Not quite, the Bosniak Serbs were Orthodox Christians, your thinking of the Croat's who were Catholic. The Bosnian conflict was pretty much a three way bitter war between the three: Croatian Catholics Orthodox Serbs and Bosnian Muslims. It got very bloody.
Well screw it, I'm not posting any more content. I have a lot of clocks. So many clocks....

As you can imagine they don't ever come to any from of consensus because they always disagree with each other
Well screw it, I'm not posting any more content.
Jesus Christ, just did some serious research on both the war and the massacres. Fuck those Serbian scumbags.
Not all serbians are bad. I lived with a serbian family in an exchange programme. They are a really nice and warming people. Except for the hooligans, they are bad. pretty bad.
I agree with you, which is why I said fuck those Serbian scumbags. Honestly though what I said is probably way too broad
I asked serbians (serbians i knew wouldn't react in a bad way) about the massacres. I sensed a great deal of hatred against their own military when they talked about them. I can tell minor details about how they feel if i find anything relevant to provide information on.
I know a Serb that fought in the Kosovo, he's pretty bitter about the whole situation, he was too young to have fought in Bosnia and the breakup, but he's really a nice guy and we both are in the same business which is how we got to know each other along with our similar history, I like to think I know a bit about the Balkans and I can safely say that it's the most messy bunch of conflicts I've ever studied.

Suprised this one hasn't been posted yet. You can't even imagine how close the world came to being thrown into a nuclear war because of this image. The year is 1962 and those white things down there are Soviet ICBMs in Cuba.
