I really believe that he cried because for a second he realized what he has done. In the interview he said that hes proud of himself but thats complete bullshit.
It's true. For example, this is a photo of Polish cavalry in 1939:
They charged the German blitzkreig with those horses to defend Poland, The tanks stopped them.
I don't get what's so dumb about that.
Except there wasnt a single occasion in the invasion of poland where cavalry charged tanks. They used the horses to move around the field quickly, dismount and then act as riflemen. The lances and sabres were used to chase down fleeing enemies, or to fight other cavalry. The poles on some occasions however, used cavalry to charge infantry (who had machine guns) in order to rout the enemy or break out of an over run defensive position, and they were mostly successful. Keep in mind that almost every army that took part in the second world war still fielded large amounts of cavalry in 1939 apart from the British, and some kept theirs right up till the late years in the war. The polish were in no way massively inferior to the germans, only in numbers, both men and materiel. In fact, the US itself was one of the last nations to get rid of its cavalry, its generals being extremely conservative. Patton, who was an advocate of cavalry said: "had we possessed an American cavalry division with pack artillery in Tunisia and in Sicily, not a German would have escaped." There is still a unit in the modern French army that practices for a mass sabre and lance cavalry charge every year to this day.
That's not really cavalry, it's light horsey stuff.

Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire of 1911:
The Triangle Shirtwaist Company always kept its doors locked to ensure that the young immigrant women stayed stooped over their machines and didn’t steal anything. When a fire broke out on Saturday, March 25, 1911, on the eighth floor of the New York City factory, the locks sealed the workers’ fate. In just 30 minutes, 146 were killed. Witnesses thought the owners were tossing their best fabric out the windows to save it, then realized workers were jumping, sometimes after sharing a kiss (the scene can be viewed now as an eerie precursor to the World Trade Center events of September, 11, 2001, only a mile and a half south). The Triangle disaster spurred a national crusade for workplace safety.
More in depth story here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangle_Shirtwaist_Factory_fire
Interesting note about that fire factory: It was the direct cause of why many buildings have mandatory fire escapes.
I can only imagine how excruciating the feeling of that leopards claws digging into his skin really is. :ohdear:
The two guards over there quickly shot it with tranq rifles, I'm sure not much happened to him.
I really believe that he cried because for a second he realized what he has done. In the interview he said that hes proud of himself but thats complete bullshit.
Might not even be that. He didn't cry when the witnesses explained what happened or the deaths got described. According to the psychologists, he is trying to keep himself mentally stable and as emotionless as possible, but most of his arrogance has faded over time.
That's not really cavalry, it's light horsey stuff.
In the 18th century the distinction between Dragoons and Cavalry was overlooked, and in the the 1930s any man who rode a horse into battle was known as a cavalryman.
