The most expensive war in both lives lost and money spent by Britain even up to this day was the second Anglo Boere war. Winston Churchill was a reporter on the war for England, and was arrested by the British for trying to report the atrocities the englishmen were doing in the war. Britain was the first country to use concentration camps to systematically kill the Afrikaaner people by capturing the woman and the children and placing them in camps like these to starve to death:

Here is one of the more famous photos of Lizy van Zyl one day before she died:

The British sent in excess of 500 000 trained troops to fight against about 16 000 Afrikaaner settlers who didn't have proper equipment or training. Due to the British "scorched earth" policy, all Afrikaaner farms and fields were burnt.

27 000 Boer women and children were killed by the British. For a population of people as small as they were, this was a shitload.

There is so much history and story behind this war, but it was all wiped under the carpet by the British since it would be very bad publicity.
Wow. And I thought I loved my ancestry.
Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of Dutch people were killed too.

Would-be Dutch President Pim Fortuyn lies dead after being shot by nature activist Volkert van de Graaf.
It was 9 days before the election, and many people expected him to win, bringing fresh air to the Dutch politcs , in many peoples opinions.
He was also openly gay, which is totally a-ok in the Netherlands.
However, some of his views were quite controversial, especially against Muslims.
His murderer got off with 18 years in prison, for the first Political murder in the Netherlands after the murder on Netherlands' founder Willem van Oranje.
Which is to be expected from a country which gives the hefty sum of two years for a killing by car, but that is a different story.
I wonder what would've happened to the Netherlands if he didn't get killed by some stupid treehugging hippie.

Funny think is, in Portugal there's a bridge made as a copy of that one and it's also the place with the highest rate of suicides in the Country.
Kinda creepy.
Here's the actual bridge I'm talking about. It's called 25th of April Bridge, formerly known as Salazar Bridge. It connects Lisbon to Almada through the Tejo river.

Tom Pryce's death video. (I know it's a video and I'm suppose to post photos, but still)
He struck the teenage marshal at approximately 270 km/h (170 mph). Van Vuuren was thrown into the air and landed yards in front of Zorzi and Bill. He died upon impact, his body being literally torn in half by Pryce's car. The fire extinguisher he had been carrying smashed into Pryce's head, before striking the Shadow's roll hoop. The force of the impact was such that the extinguisher was thrown up and over the adjacent grandstand. It came to ground in the car park to the rear of the stand, where it hit a parked car and jammed its door shut.
Roger Williamson's Death.

After his Formula One debut at the 1973 British Grand Prix, Williamson's second Formula One appearance was at the 1973 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort Circuit. On his eighth lap, a suspected tyre failure caused his car to flip upside down and catch fire. Williamson had not been seriously injured by the impact, but was trapped under the car. The track marshals were both poorly trained and badly equipped, and could not assist him. Another driver, David Purley, upon witnessing the crash, abandoned his own race and pulled over in a desperate and valiant attempt to rescue Williamson. He ran across the track to Williamson's car and tried to turn it upright. When no-one came to help, he crossed the track and returned with a fire extinguisher. He emptied it on the car and signaled for others to help. Purley was unable to put out the fire or turn the car upright. By the time the first fire engine arrived and the fire was extinguished, Williamson had died of asphyxiation. As most racers mistakenly identified Purley as the driver of the crashed car, none of them stopped to help and the race continued, even as Purley stood on the circuit and gestured with his hands to stop.

The marshal was carrying a fire extinguisher, the car to the left had some kind of fire. It was the extinguisher in his hand that hit Price; killing him instantly.

There was some famous picture of these German troops talking to a British police officer.
Its funny how the allies never really intervened at least the slightest even at the D-Day landings. it was only taken back around a year after the Landings...
You should watch this video.
When they burned down the farms, the woman and children survived very easily on their own. They knew how to live off the land, they had travelled 1200 km in an ox wagon through all terrain you can think of. Even though it died off to 2% in the end, the damage had been done with over 25% of the inmates dying.
The Boers didn't have all the equipment the British had, or the number of troops, so they had to fight guerilla warfare.
The thing is, the boere were fighting for their own country and family, they were defending and would gain nothing other than what they previously had if they won. I can guarantee that the British did not have soft harts and good intentions during that war, they were fed up with the country and the war having lost so many of their own to an enemy they couldn't even see most of the time.
Anyway, on the topic of South Africa:
During Apartheid 92% of all black deaths were black on black violence, and in the 40 years of apartheid 7000 blacks died compared to 6 years under nelson Mandela with 174 220 deaths. There was a reason the tribes were being kept apart, it's just too bad that corruption worked its way into the system and made it immoral.
Here is their favorite way of killing, it's called necklacing. You put a tire around someone's neck and set it on fire so it melts onto him, then crowd mentality kicks in and.. well, this is the result:
