Christ. This entire thread leaves me speechless.
Today is Amelia Earheart's 115th birthday

Has someone posted about the killing of Fred Hampton? If not, I could slap a post together with pictures and info on the topic.
Late reply, just finished watching this I cant believe how Gene jumps and a crowd of people just... watch. They dont try to do anything they just... watch. What the fuck is wrong with society? Is it too much that they break social boundaries and comfort zones in order to save someones life?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bystander_effect
Pancho Villa (center), General Pershing (right), 1st LT George S. Patton (flanking Pershing). Taken a year before they started to fight each other. And holy fuck Patton is tall. A year before this photo was taken, Pancho Villa signed a contract with Hollywood to make a silent film about his life. Hollywood actually gave the iconic image of the Mexican revolutionary by having him wear a pancho and a sombrero.

If we're going into Chernobyl stuff, may as well post some more images. The radiation caused mutation in the children of those that were evacuated from Pripyat. Yeah but all them mutation and mess that radiation causes makes the child's life incredibly painful and they probably don't live very long either :( It's so fucked up to see how badly it's still affecting people today.
I am pretty sure a lot of those images were not of people born in Belarus and Ukraine, I am sure that a lot of it was faked just to get the nuclear program negative attention.
What A year? No. No way. That is not possible. Either way:

In 2007, Resto made a tearful apology to Collins-Nile for his role in the scheme. He also admitted that his hand wraps had been soaked in plaster of Paris before the fight. This caused them to harden into plaster casts like those used to set broken bones. The hand wraps were never confiscated and did not figure into the official investigation of the tampering incident. However, the combined effect of the plaster casts and unpadded gloves meant that Resto was effectively striking Collins with rocks. At a 2008 press conference, Resto not only admitted to knowing that Lewis had tampered with the gloves, but had done so at least twice before. The 1983 incident and subsequent aftermath is covered in the HBO-aired documentary Assault in the Ring.
Glad he apologised but I wouldn't forgive him. Utmost respect for Collins for trooping on for 10 rounds of effectively getting pummelled by rocks.

Shitting fuck. I new S.T.A.L.K.E.R had elements of truth, but I assumed it was highly exaggerated for effect. I had no idea reality wasn't far off...
Their tongues would probably inflate until they choked to death.
That thing put out about 200 Greys an hour, if you stand next to it for 5 minutes your brain will start to die and you will go into seizures and fits, most of your organs will fail and you will die. The radiation just starts to break down every cell in your body, your brain will be the first thing you realise is dying and by that time it would have been to late. You might also feel a tingling on you skin.

i read an interview with a researcher at chernobyl, he was saying that at some points in the NPP basement, people could literally melt from the levels of radiation

Other stuff seemed awful, but the images that put in my mind were almost unbearable.
On a lighter note. Union and Confederate Civil War veterans shake hands along the same fence the Confederates charged through 50 years ago. The veterans retracing the famous Pickett's Charge.
