Here's another one guys. [editline]23rd September 2012[/editline]
If I recall right, the USSR did the same thing to him in a lot of propaganda films and photos immediately after he died. Called it "de-stalinization" or something.
That's true. They wanted to de-stalinize the Soviet Union after his death in the 1950's. It's way harder to erase someone that was such a big figure during one of the biggest wars in history. Trotskij was alot less known, made it alot easier to erase hime from history. Just like everyone knows about Adolf Hitler and not alot about Martin Bormann. I got a book around here somewhere which has the subject of de-stalinization of the Soviet Union around here somewhere. I really suggest that everyone reads a book, watches a documentary or something about Trotskij, Soviet Union and the Russian Revolution.
man I didn't realize adobe photoshop was out back then!
man I didn't realize adobe photoshop was out back then!
It wasent you son of bitch. (User was banned for this post ("Flaming" - Asaratha))

If you remember the title, let me know.

Nazis accusing Americans of being racist. Also those erasing people from history pictures is really interesting.
I would love to read a book like that. If you remember the title, let me know.
Will do! Though I think it's in Swedish only. But it shouldn't be to hard to find books about this subject.
This thread needs some Otto Carius This one is from when he was first "issued" his tiger, so fresh from the factory that it still doesn't have one of it's road wheels attached. "Tigers in the Mud" is a great book, read it on a 17 hour car trip, over glorifies the Wehrmacht a bit, and over criticizes the soviets a bit, but its still a good read.
If I recall right, the USSR did the same thing to him in a lot of propaganda films and photos immediately after he died. Called it "de-stalinization" or something.
Want to see the photo that takes the cake out of that? I think the picture is a commonly recognized image, but not many know the original content on it. (Not sure if this has already been posted, but I didn't see anything about it in the thread.) See anything potentially controversial, or at the very least a flaw? Hint: [sp] look at the bottom guy's wrists. He nicked a watch, or even both watches, from fallen men. Certainly not the image the Soviet Union wanted to show. [/sp] This is the image the Soviet Union edited and used afterward, adding in some smoke for dramatics and editing the lower man's forearms. It's hard to see, but now the man only has one watch. I think that photo was also done a few days after the battle for the city was over and they just posed for it. But I never knew they edited it further afterward.
They were pretty good with photoshop I guess.
They were pretty good with photoshop I guess.
That reminds me... This infamous photo was taken in Beirut in 2006. Not only a terrible example of Photoshop, but also a ringing endorsement against photo manipulation in journalism.

Alright, a lot of WWII pictures have been posted but I haven't seen many memorials. Considering I go to school in Arnhem, I decided to visit the war memorial in town during a lunchbreak and shot a few pictures. I could post them if it would contribute to this thread but won't be able to post them till a few hours. Let me know if I should post them or not.
go ahead and post them.
Aw sorry guys, thought I still had them but I was wrong. I'll visit it tomorrow and snap some photo's so you'll have to wait just a tad longer. Sorry.
While we wait, here's some pictures of the WW II memorial in Washington DC Each side represents one of the two theaters, Atlantic and Pacific

that picture is beyond bad shop. holy fucking crap, how did no one see that shit before they released it?
It's like how everyone believed that 9/11 tourist photo with the jet. I remember my computer lab teacher going on a frustrated rant about how everyone should have picked up on how it was an incredibly bad photoshop.

Heat,Impact, everything.... Hoooooowwwwwww
You now what It doesn't matter if that's fake or not, the real question is how the fuck is it still intact. Heat,Impact, everything.... Hoooooowwwwwww
If it were on top of the building, it was away from the fires a dozen stories below. And by random luck it could have safely just sat on top of the roof as the building sailed to the ground, leaving it right on top of all the wreckage. Possible? Yes. Chance of actually happening? Nill, but enough to be believable - after all, there's a picture to prove it.
You now what It doesn't matter if that's fake or not, the real question is how the fuck is it still intact. Heat,Impact, everything.... Hoooooowwwwwww
Hijacker passport was found afterwards... and that was inside the fucking plane.
Imagine taking that photo - Hey Dan, there's a plane behind you - Stop joking Erik - No really, there is one *CRASCH*
You now what It doesn't matter if that's fake or not, the real question is how the fuck is it still intact. Heat,Impact, everything.... Hoooooowwwwwww
Well for one it is fake, not only is it a bad photo shop, but the roof was closed the day of the attack. Like Scorpious said, theres a slim chance if the camera was left on the roof, it could fall with the building and remain in the top layers of rubble.
Plus neither plane was flying as horizontally as that when they hit, they were at fairly steep angles.
