As he grew old, Johnny Cash came to resent the Nashville country-music establishment, which all but abandoned him and the other aging “country” artists who had defined the genre to embrace new pop-oriented country artists like Garth Brooks. His late album Unchained (1996) was virtually ignored by the establishment. However, the album won a Grammy for Best Country Album. Cash and his producers American Recordings posted an advertisement in Billboard Magazine with the above image as a ”thank you” to the Nashville country music industry after winning the award. The infamous photo of Cash giving the middle finger to the camera was taken back in 1969 during his San Quentin prison performance.
Want to see the photo that takes the cake out of that? I think the picture is a commonly recognized image, but not many know the original content on it. (Not sure if this has already been posted, but I didn't see anything about it in the thread.)
I thought they carried multiple watches so they knew when to charge a position? Or was that World War 1?
I thought they carried multiple watches so they knew when to charge a position? Or was that World War 1?
I've heard that the soldier involved was interviewed and admitted taking the watches (idk about the validity of that info though). Another other common explanation is that it was Adrianov compass, but all evidence points to it being another watch so we just need to know how he obtained the watches.
What's the story behind this?
During the Israeli-Palestinian conflict of July 2006, a freelance photographer (Adnan Hajj) took this photo of an attack in Beirut. Before sending the photo off to Reuters (the news agency he worked with), Hajj manipulated the photo extensively, which is massive faux-pas in photojournalism. Long story short: Reuters ran the photo anyway, got called out on it, people were fired. Also, here's a side-by-side comparison of the original photo versus the manipulated one.
The original image looks just fine, I wonder why he felt the need to 'enhance' it.
You could say that about any time a photo gets 'enhanced' by some reporter. Like a while back there was some upset over an altered photo of Obama and the then-president of Egypt, Mubarak.
You could say that about any time a photo gets 'enhanced' by some reporter. I don't remember any involving either presidents.
More like "The day a rock star acted like a cry baby"
They are a punk band, and it really is the most punk-like thing they've done in a long while. That's not to say it 'shook the world', though.
Who's world did it shake? it didnt shake mine or anyone elses i know..
I didn't even know about it until now.
I don't even know who that is
I don't even know who that is
Billie Joe Armstrong, the lead whiner of Green Day. Photos that shook a few fans...

Apperently, on orders of the vice-mayor of the village, they had the heaviest construction vehicle they had crush him while he was walking on the road. What is more, they tried to cover it up, but it has found its way over multiple Chinese websites.

Only person who can smash his guitar and get away with it is Pete Townshend
^how...just..what i hope that was a freak accident.. (referring to the chinese guy crushed under the bulldozer)
^how...just..what i hope that was a freak accident.. (referring to the chinese guy crushed under the bulldozer)
Read the post again. Guy protests, guy gets literally flattened. Remember that this is China we're talking about.
Which photos are you referring to?
Never new punk translated to "acting like a fucking child". Guy Fawkes signature before and after torture at the tower of London, clearly a broken man.
You could say that about any time a photo gets 'enhanced' by some reporter. Like a while back there was some upset over an altered photo of Obama and the then-president of Egypt, Mubarak.
From my second-hand experience, any manipulation in photojournalism is frowned upon. A local photographer for Reuters (his name is Paul Darrow, his work can be seen here: http://www.darrowmultimedia.com/ ) said to me that he's often hesitant to even sharpen his photos. So to move around elements of a photo, whether it's cloning smoke or moving world leaders, seems to me like a misrepresentation of the truth. (sorry if this is veering a bit too far off-topic.)

You guys will love this http://imgur.com/a/vnwC2 Probably my favorite one in terms of impact Hiroshima - Before and After (1945)
I click on this thinking there would be some pretty princess pictures. I was badly mistaken.
You guys will love this http://imgur.com/a/vnwC2
Great photos, I know during the entire time MacArthur was thinking "I still think should have glassed them over instead". MacArthur was an ass hole.
The dog of General George S. Patton on the day of his death (1945)
These kind of photos get to me deeply (although not as much as the 9/11 discussion), I think it's just more to the fact that animals are largely innocent in whatever shit storm we create.
Guy Fawkes signature before and after torture at the tower of London, clearly a broken man.
Great until you realize he was trying to kill hundreds of people to install a catholic dictatorship.
What led you to think that?
MacArthur was an ass hole. Go read up on what the navy wanted to do in the pacific, in comparison to what MacArthur actually did. Pretty sure he was also one of many that wanted to completely glass Japan, and during the Korean war, completely glass the Norks. [editline]28th September 2012[/editline] and you all know this picture right, and the footage that goes with it? He repeated the landing several times, so he could get it just right. Front line general my ass.
