I have now read every page in this thread and I canot believe how much i have learnt by reading it thanks to those that posted some photos of Hiroshima after the bomb was dropped
I went to the Hiroshima Peace Museum when I went on a trip to Japan recently. It was absolutely shocking. Looking at before and after pictures of the city, it's amazing how much damage it did, even if most of the buildings were wood and paper at the time. I can't even begin to imagine what it was like being there. [editline]13th November 2012[/editline] I only wish I could agree with their stance on banning all nuclear weapons. I just fear that without those deterrents, there'd be so much more war.
Bombing of tokyo was debatably worse, we literally just firebombed the city to the ground to break morale. It's good to see this thread gaining speed again.
Link to gore - don't post it. It's pretty much the unwritten rule of the thread.
Unwritten.
probably a real dumb question, but is there any radiation left in Hiroshima today?
Link to gore - don't post it. It's pretty much the unwritten rule of the thread.
after 5 or so pages of gore photos from 9/11, I think everyone assumed it was OK to post gory old black and whites.
probably a real dumb question, but is there any radiation left in Hiroshima today?
Yup, the uranmium they used has a half life of 703,800,000 years.
This one in particular, it looks so depressing and hopeless for the people trapped inside still :(
Wait, there are people still in there? Good god...
During the 1989 romanian revolution After Iliescu named Nicolae Militaru Defense Minister, he ordered the killing of everyone who proved him a past spy. Colonel Gheorghe Trosca worked on the case "Corbii", demonstrating Militaru's collaboration with the Soviet Army intelligence service (GRU). For that he paid with his life. In the night of 22 to 23 December 1989, Colonel Gheorghe Trosca, Chief of Staff to the Special Unit for counterterrorism (USLA), was killed by MND defense devices, which was "mistaken" for a terrorist.
