British soldiers pose for a group photo by a ruined bridge that led through the Hindenburg Line. This was the first time the line has been broken since the beginning of WW1 and the deepest the Allies have pushed into enemy territory in the whole war.
When I first glanced at this photo, I thought it was a small group of people on the bridge, next to a wall of skeletons. I'm relieved it wasn't, but that would have been a world shaking photo
I thought they were plants or something
Cool picture from the BBC: [t]http://i48.tinypic.com/2md2a1f.png[/t]
That looks shopped.
That looks shopped.
It's not, it's from the cruise ship that ran aground and capsized off the coast of Italy or Sicily I think.
It may be because it's a picture or the focus or something, but the ship looks a bit flat.
It may be because it's a picture or the focus or something, but the ship looks a bit flat.
It's the angle
probably has something to do with the ship being on it's side.

At the request of Jacqueline Kennedy, the guard was to face the president after observing the guards facing outwards, seeing her deceased husband so 'lonely.' This was the first time in history that the guard that protects the deceased President is faced inward. The tradition continued on since.

Despite being buried for 1 1/2 days, the Japanese soldier had a hand grenade inches from his hand. The Marine swatted the grenade away to the bottom of the crater and while other soldiers feared that there may be more booby traps, the Marine gave the soldier a cigarette and was pulled out of the crater into captivity. Oh, and i just have to show you this one too: Beautiful, just... Beautiful. Also by Lennart.

Pictures of people killing Polar Bears seems like an odd thing to have a "favorite" of.
