Shut up and give us some papers [editline]24th August 2013[/editline]
cigarettes are absolutely awful for your health in the long term and still pretty awful in the short. There is no conspiracy, they are actually awful. but also awesome
No shit?
cigarettes are absolutely awful for your health in the long term and still pretty awful in the short. There is no conspiracy, they are actually awful. but also awesome
I've read that a cig or two every couple days is repairable damage but you have to give yourself breaks in between so your lungs can keep up. Kinda like how you can safely drink alcohol every day if you limit yourself to a couple beers but if you're getting hammered all the time your liver can't keep up.
How bad cigs are actually are? I can't seem to find any good research paper on health effects of cig, all I find is bunch of bullshit claims with no backing and scientific basis at all. List of 4000 (lol) chemicals with no say where all those come from. Can anyone link me to one good research paper with actual science and no bullshit? There are lots of good papers on Erowid about other chemicals but I can't seem to find one on cigs. I know they are bad and all but I need real info.
the main thing is really the fact that the pesticides used on tobacco plants contain radon particles, and when u smoke cigs these particles get lodged in you lungs and emit alpha radiation, the shit thing is that the particles can stay there for up to 20 years, a while ago i wrote a paper on radon and radioactivity for school so i had like 20 sources backing this up, if i bother i can find them for you if you want [editline]24th August 2013[/editline] btw radon is radioactive

If latter then I'd like to see them, thanks.
Why are we arguing about ciggies in the ciggies thread. I made this thread for discussion of what's the best kind and what not. Not this.
Why are we arguing about ciggies in the ciggies thread. I made this thread for discussion of what's the best kind and what not. Not this.
We are not arguing. I just wanted to do some research and see actually how bad (good?) they are for me. I thought this would be best thread to post it.

I think this is why people commonly associate radiation with a glowing effect.
yeah fuck it i'm out see you all on garry's birthday
$5 says garry won't unban everyone for his next birthday. [editline]25th August 2013[/editline] Alt reply: good riddance.
cigarettes are absolutely awful for your health in the long term and still pretty awful in the short. There is no conspiracy, they are actually awful. but also awesome
the health effects of cigarette/any tobacco smoking depends on the amount you smoke a day, a week and if you exercise or not, plus it depends on person to person... I smoke around 4-5 cigarettes a week but I do fine when cycling/running, not that bad Its slightly similar to alcohol. Not good in excess
Of course if you smoke very little the effects on your health will be mild or even imperceptible, but that doesn't mean that it isn't bad in the long run. If certain reports about red wine are to be believed you can safely drink a certain amount of alcohol a day and not have a heightened chance of cancer, but the same doesn't exist for smoking. It's just the way it is unfortunately.

This is mainly due to alcohol thinning the blood like aspirin I believe. Also, smoking, even in small amounts, definitely causes immediate damage. Any smoke will affect the lungs' ability to rid themselves of toxins, but this doesn't seem carcinogenic on its own.
The first misister of quebec annonced an atrocious tax boost on cig, current average price is 8$, after it would be around 20$ the damn pack, if thats the case im so quitting.

Apart from most packs being $17-20 for 25 in Australia already, the government announced a 50% increase in tobacco excise taxes in 4 years. In 2017, packs of cigarettes are meant to be ~$30 each. no wonder I roll cigarettes, I can get 50 out of a $20 dollar pouch [editline]29th August 2013[/editline] hell some of my friends have stretched a pouch to 80 cigarettes by rolling with ultra thin filters and being stingy with them (this is a 30g pouch btw)
In other news: Sales of Canadian raw tobacco skyrockets, stock holders have been sighted opening bottles of champagne in celebration
Pauline marois said so, not stephen harper, so i dont think it would hit the canada, quebec is almost seperated from canada, it nearly became a country couple years ago.
When do you guys prefer to smoke? I know a lot of people like to smoke when they're drinking or high but honestly the most enjoyable time to smoke imo is when I'm completely sober.
When do you guys prefer to smoke? I know a lot of people like to smoke when they're drinking or high but honestly the most enjoyable time to smoke imo is when I'm completely sober.
Either after a run, or i drink a beer and wait a half then smoke, it makes the high feel alot better. I need to start getting mangoes
Talking about tobacco, that's what you're talking about too right? You never know around here :v:
I'd hardly say tobacco causes a high. A rush or at a stretch a buzz maybe.
When do you guys prefer to smoke? I know a lot of people like to smoke when they're drinking or high but honestly the most enjoyable time to smoke imo is when I'm completely sober.
I like smoking when I'm drinking because I feel that the nicotine buzz enhances the alcohol buzz significantly. Sometimes I'll smoke a menthol if my Adderall is making me feel particularly on edge that day, got that "refreshing" feel to it that kinda helps me out. Other than that though I don't really smoke tobacco, though from time to time I like to pick up a disposable e-cig just to blow smoke rings with.
Check this page out in particular - Nicotine Addiction 101
I dont think im really affected by addiction, ive been smoking for 3 years, first 1.5 years ive been smoking up to 1/3 package a day, the next 1.5 years my desire for cigarette has reduced to 1-4 cigarette a day for no reason, never tried to stop or anything, it happened itself.
I've become interested in smoking, but I really don't want to do cigarettes or cigars because of the large health risks. The Blu E-Cigs do interest me, however. Has anyone here used them? How are they?
are those disposable ecigs? I would be really surprised if they were any good. get something nice at least. my friend has this iTaste thing which is really nice.
are those disposable ecigs? I would be really surprised if they were any good. get something nice at least. my friend has this iTaste thing which is really nice.
No, they're the rechargable ones with the cartridges. I've heard good things about them but I'm not sure on how good they are. http://www.blucigs.com/
Im smoking a EGO CE5 right now, they're pretty inexpensive, and fucking awesome. I've got a few flavors for it, and since buying it a week ago, I haven't had a cigarette since. Get a good eCig, not a Blu. You'll love it.
sometimes I feel like I've permanently fucked my life up to a certain extent by smoking, even if I quit. gonna ponder this while I smoke another.
Been smoking more lately, the girl's into it now so that and trying to kick some other things have made me smoke lots more. Not too radical though, just 2-6 cigarettes a day. Need to buy a pack tomorrow.
