I figure traveling to the future is possible but traveling to the past is not. You cant create or destroy matter ( or something..) therefor you couldn't, for example, pick up a rock and go back in time, because now you have brought something into the time period that didn't exist previous, and if it did, it has been duplicated, creating new matter...which can't be done Aka if I get a rock and then go back in time 5 minutes before I took the rock back, I have now duplicated the rock... and myself. HOWEVER, with the future, if I take a rock and go to the future, no matter is created or destroyed. The rock doesn't exist in the future because I had picked it up and gone to the future with it in the first place. Therefore Balance of energy still exists. However i still have no fucking idea how you'd actually get to the future in the first place.
Wow. Just wow. Your main point here being that matter cannot be created or destroyed is thrown out the window by the fact that the atoms that make up that rock DO exist in the future, just not necessarily in that form. Avatar kinda fits
In my defense I haven't slept in 3 days
That, in itself, is a stupid thing to do so maybe you're just naturally stupid.
Time is simultaneous.

drink 100 cups of coffee, the world will slow down
That sounds like something Jiddu Krishnamurti would say.
I thought that four-vectors could only have positive time/velocity components (making backwards time travel and ftl travel impossible)
Solutions to the Einstein equations exist (like the Gödel metric) that allow for closed timelike curves to exist.
WOAH SO TIME TRAVEL CANT EXIST BECAUSE TIME DOESNT EXIST SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT
With the infinite alternative universes hypothesis, sometimes even I look to envision myself being immortal. Whereas I simply cannot truly die and instead continue my existence in an infinite number of branching universes like nothing happened. But we all know there is no evidence for such a thing, and thus it all remains a hypothesis.
i have a special camera it takes pictures of the past
sir, please kill yourself now holy shit i just saw this one. are you a troll? or just fucking retarded?
Wow, calm down.
Apparently you need a shit loads of energy to create portals, with portals you can travel through time and it's the only way (As far as I know) in which humans will be able to travel since it bends time and space, while current teleportation which is capable of teleporting atoms destroys the original version and i don't think that will work so well with humans.
14 year old nerds writing theorys, lol
Rate me late if you've heard this before, although I just thought of this. Ok, so first, this theory only holds truth if you believe that any instance of time in the future does not exist until it is the present in which case its not the future anymore. Basically there is no such thing as the future because it will never actually be the future and reality exists only in the present. That said, you can obviously never travel forward through time to a place that doesn't exist. So what about traveling back in time? Well If the future does not exist at this instant in time then there would be no way for someone to go back in time because they would then be coming from a place that does not exist according to the past. I'm just wondering if anyone thinks this is logical or if it holds any validity. On a side note this makes me wonder if the concept of time is simply just something humans came up with along their little path through life. Consider this: there is no past or present and "time" is merely a word pinned to an intangible concept created for whatever sake humans saw fit. There is only... and this is where I begin to feel restricted by human language because the only terms I can use are ones like "now" or "present" both of which address or relate to "time" in some way. But Im just suggesting the only thing thats real is right now and once that instance passes it does not exist. We've found ways to capture instances with video recording or cameras allowing us to see the past and leading us to believe that its real. Then again those are human creations and we are only influenced by ourselves and whatever mistakes we may have made when interpreting our environment. Anywaays. Thoughts? Comments?
No, you would still be able to travel back in time, because the future your coming from exists, your theory would only apply if somehow the past was a variable, but it isn't, our past is a constant, so only one future exists for our past, and that is our present. But since we are in the present, variables in our life cause our future to change, but even though these variables change, we are always going to have one future, but since there are variables we don't know what exactly our future is. e.g if you go to eat a dohnut, but you decide not to, you were never meant to eat that dohnut at that point in time. Then the fact that you didn't eat that dohnut you never felt the urge to go to the bathroom, resulting in you going back to work early, on the way there you are killed in a car crash. You were always going to not eat that dohnut, and you were always going to die at that specific time, but you wouldn't have known that 2 years beforehand, but your future still exists. Just because you think your future doesnt exist yet, it does, but your mind is not capable of knowing every decision your going to make that will lead you to the future you were always going to have, therefore to you, your future doesnt exist, but to time it does exist. With all that said, Time travel requires a vast and infinite energy source, which doesnt exist, I'm not talkin about oil as an energy source, or even nuclear, this would require thrillions of stairs and galaxys combined to actually manipulate space and time, and even then it would be for a billionth of a second, then it's gone. [editline]Edited:[/editline] I'm assuming that box came from a fuckin simpleton who doesnt understand.
If we haven't heard of it happening - it doesn't exist and never will. Say if backwards travel gets invented in the future, there will be an almost 100% that we now have records of time travellers coming to see us. Thus I believe it will never happen. However, forward travel at faster than natural speed is possible, just isn't practical yet..
even if time travel was possible, the earth moves and you would be lost in space
Who knows? Not everything has been discovered or invented yet. I think it is too early in our history to even try to travel through time in a massive scale (people/things).
OP hasn't seen Back to the Future.
To me, a more useful way to alter time is to slow it down. There are many positive things it can be applied to.
Oh look. It's THIS thread again.
Time travel is technically possible by going the speed of light. Because time slows down the faster you go. But there is no getting back. And Hitler experimented time travel with Aether. Which is according to ancient and medieval science aether, also spelled æther or ether, is the material that fills the region of the Universe above the terrestrial sphere. I've been thinking the same about time as OP. That it merely is just a measure that people came up with for organization. If you boil it down to the bone, time doesn't matter. Only existance matters. You could live without a measure in time, and winter would come and go, summer would come and go, without any help from "time". It's just nature. Winter comes due to the rotation of planets. It doesn't have to do with time. Time sucks.
It's funny, I don't really care at all.
