What about alcohol then? Should we make it illegal, or just make it illegal in certain circumstances? What about cigarettes which actually do kill people (And smell like shit for everyone around you)
I say trying to make what is essentially a wild plant that naturally grows all over the damn place illegal is futile and a waste of money anyway
Nancy Grace is a fucking moron.
Oh my god, think of the kids
At least 75% of the arguments against recreational marijuana are always, WHAT IF THEY'RE HIGH IN PUBLIC?? For some reason the people that use that argument have some notion in their head that it won't be regulated like alcohol, which is totally fine by the way, but WEED? Oh no!

Imo there is a basis for this train of thought though, even if it isn't for the reasons they say.
Smoking tobacco is much more socially acceptable to do out and about and compared to alcohol and people do it because they feel like it relieves stress and it prevents withdrawal.
I feel like a problem with weed is that some people will hold it on the same level of social acceptance as smoking rather than alcohol, and a lot of people mix it with tobacco anyway. That combined with the fact that it doesn't quite inhibit you as much as alcohol is why I think that it will be easy for some people to just decide to have a cheeky one before work and generally not treat it as serious as they would drinking.
I am pro legalization, but I try to avoid the mindset that weed is perfect, there will be social implications for legalization that need to be dealt with one way or another.

Look, nobody is gonna go out on a 5 minute break at work and smoke a joint as if they were smoking tobacco. It's just not worth it, and honestly I doubt people are gonna start showing up at work high.
[editline]8th January 2014[/editline]
Yeah people will probably have a much looser mindset when it comes to cannabis than with alcohol, but there's a good reason for that - cannabis does not fuck you up and make you loose control in the same way alcohol. Yeah cannabis will be taken less seriously but never to the extent of tobacco.
in the crazy fictional world where legalised weed will mean
people turn up to work high
drive high
go to the shops high
i'm pretty sure people will stop doing it pretty quick when they
crash their car
get fired
keep getting told to leave public places
[editline]8th January 2014[/editline]
so yeh it's really a null point

There are people out there who go to school high. Or drive cars while high. You underestimate stupidity.

Who's going to tell them to leave or stop? Those people are going to be high too! It's an unstoppable epidemic!
I still don´t know why weed was illegal anyway. Alcohol isn´t illegal, tobacco isn´t illegal, so why weed?

It's obviously just wild theories based on what if's, and heck I've acted more mature in public after smoking compared to drinking so I know a thing for sure.
Sad thing is that we're still stick with illiterate generations that just goes "better safe than sorry!" and is a big enough part of voters for improvement to fall behind.
We'll just have to wait for the world to wake up. :(

Hold on, while I flip a couple words around in this post:
in the crazy fictional world where legalised alcohol will mean

go to the shops drunk

That^ pretty much rarely happens today anyway.
jesus FUCK that clip of bill o'reilly made me sooo mad

not-being-high
will be the new high
Wouldn't it prevent kids at ages like 12-13 from buying pot? Because obviously you have to be over 18 to smoke, I mean technically it makes it harder for them to buy it because pot dealers don't care how old you are. I just think anyone who seems to have any kind of influence and they're against pot make the most ridiculous scenarios up.
Yes I would like my taxi driver to be stoned, because I've seen tests where people on weed concentrate more when they've had a bit to smoke, and they would be more relaxed so there is a far less chance of them having road rage.
I think it could also help a lot of stressed out bitches who doesn't listen to other people's opinions; Nancy.

I don't think you're looking at it from an extreme enough angle.
These people all seem to think everyone will start smoking weed. They won't.
It'll just turn into the new 'Stop Smoking' campaign. It'll be treated with the same disregard, nothing more than a nuisance.
Fuck Bill O'Reilly is one of the biggest fucking cunts on television. He constantly cuts people off so he can make his "points" but when they try to make any logical rebuttal he throws out "YOU'RE BABBLING YOU'RE BABBLING, WAIT, WAIT, LET MEEEE TALK!!!"

Yeah, and then Fox News hired sociopaths like Sean Hannity and Gretchen Whatsherstupidname who now make him seem "normal".
Would I want my cab driver drunk? No, and I wouldn't want him high. Treat it the same way as alcohol.
I drove high alot, like aloot. Never impaired me infact i was more aware, and drove the speed limit so i wouldn't get pulled over. The only time i can say when not to drive while high is edibles as they make you even more high.
But smoking a bowl and driving? Pssshh too easy. Did that nearly for 2 months right after work.
If your a firstime smoker then yeah you should not operate any motor vehicles.
As time and usage of weed increases, so does knowledge of your limits and what you can or can't do.
That's not very responsible and you're setting a bad example.

It's people like you, who think they can handle it, then one day fuck up and end up laminating the inside of a car wreck. You're the reason people campaign against these sort of things in the first place. You're part of the problem.
Stop being part of the problem.

Uh, no both sound stupid as fuck. You're a poor example.

The two aren't really comparable. I mean, he shouldn't be driving while high and all that, but you can't really compare that to driving drunk.
Either way though, the point stands that even though both are illegal, there are still going to be people who do it, just as people drive drunk now and get DUIs, the same would happen if pot was legalized but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be legalized, just the same as people driving drunk doesn't mean alcohol should be illegal.
Let's rip more on nancy grace, she deserves it

Stop comparing alchol to weed, its really different.
It's people like you, who think they can handle it, then one day fuck up and end up laminating the inside of a car wreck.
I don't think i can handle it, i know i can handle it.
It's really not that complicated, just focus on driving and what is around me. Even with other people in the car my priority is the road.
Some people can, and some people can't.

You're immature and you're going to end up killing someone. The point is that most of the dangers of weed revolve around it's impairment of the senses. Even if you're some kind of super hardcore weed smoking driver, it's still a stupid thing to do.

This is literally the same argument people use to justify texting and driving as well
