If you don't remember last September I made a thread about enlisting in the Military, that was completed and I completed high school and have been waiting for my shipping day. Shipping day is July 20th but leaving for the hotel July 19th, I am going to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. I will be gone for 8-10 weeks and than come home for around a month and than leave for my A.I.T training as a 21B (Combat Engineer). Just wanted to update you all on how it is going. If you are curious here is my other thread saying that I am enlisting and all that good stuff http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=812922
A combat engineer? How do I erect a dispenser?
At least you will be there for America when Those damn Commies invade American Soil.
Good luck man, I'm sure you'll do great.
Remember to help bring this whole crazy war to an end quickly, son. And if another one pops up, keep at that one too.
Well tomorrow is the day, I go to the hotel around 1430 and than the next day I go to MEPS for the day, than I go back to the hotel for the night and than the next day I ship out on the airplane. Just giving an update.
Heh. "I ship out on the airplane". Have fun with the National Guard, tho. Seriously.
You're going to front lines? Salute to you :patriot:
I want to join the airforce when I am older. I am extremely dedicated where needed, but my only problem is that I don't know if I have the stomach to fly planes while experiencing negative G's. Do you slowly obtain the ability to withstand negative G's or do you have to be born with it? I very much want to join the airforce :c [editline]04:25AM[/editline] also tell us how hard basic training was whenever possible, I want to know what kind of challenge I'm up for
Be sure to watch these incredibly accurate videos regarding the everyday life of someone in the Marines. Not the Military like you, but close enough. Study these videos, and be prepared. Don't forget your standard apparel
And if you get a wrench as part of your standard equipment, paint it gold. Take pictures of wrench, when you can.

Furthermore, they have so many tests you have to pass that only a few thousand people actually make up the flying corps of it. It's a very technical branch of the armed forces. I've considered going into it now that I'm in college, but I'm probably going to get involved with the navy more (eyesight isn't nearly as big a factor to them, and they're just as technical; which I, in case you didn't figure this, have very shitty sight, but only in my left eye thankfully). It's Rockford, IL's liberal arts school. Still, I can enlist as an officer and get all the privileges and benefits that come with it.
And if you get a wrench as part of your standard equipment, paint it gold. Take pictures of wrench, when you can.
This. Also, buy a Team Fortress 2 Engineer poster and put it up in your barracks.
Don't miss the rope at boot camp.
Good luck man.
I don't want a lifetime career in the airforce, but I still really would like to join. I've also had 20/20 vision my entire life so that shouldn't be a problem.

They want people who will stick with it and become top quality professionals.
I was going to enlist (Canadian Forces) as combat engineer, but because I'm rather short-sighted my plan now is to enter as an NCM Med Tech

They make a decent wage, not to mention full pension, early retirement, provided accommodations, meals, full health care and insurance..
Good luck.
Few tip for ya: Remember the 3 R's: Right Place, Right Time, Right Uniform. Always be early to every formation, 10 to 15 minute prior and you can never go wrong Use the battle buddy system, as gay as TRADOC is, it will save you from getting smoked by a DS. Never fuck over a battle buddy. You cover his ass, and he will cover yours. Answer everything is yes drill sergeant, no drill sergeant. Know the soldier creed, ranks, and warrior ethos. Memorize them! I'll think of more...
21B (Combat Engineer).
I know the videogame jokes are starting to get old, but for the love of God, please don't use the Carl Gustav.
Pew pew, when do we get the guns?
They make a decent wage, not to mention full pension, early retirement, provided accommodations, meals, full health care and insurance..
They only make 72,000 or so a year, and I don't want to be stuck living a lifestyle any less than that which I live now
They only make 72,000 or so a year, and I don't want to be stuck living a lifestyle any less than that which I live now
An enlisted man only makes about 25,000 a year. And that depends upon rank and time in service.
They only make 72,000 or so a year, and I don't want to be stuck living a lifestyle any less than that which I live now
That's why you won't be a pilot, because you aren't dedicated to flying OR serving.
Don't shoot your cock.
Don't die, we'll miss you. :ohdear:
That's why you won't be a pilot, because you aren't dedicated to flying OR serving.
You don't know me, and therefore you cannot possibly tell me that I am not dedicated to serving my country, or by extension, flying as a pilot in the airforce. Whether or not I become a pilot in the airforce, I will serve my country one way or another. If I become a doctor like my father, I will go through residency training in the army or some branch of the military. I am 100% sure that one day I will serve my country one way or another, with as much dedication and hard work as any man can produce.
Look out for spies.
