The real question is, Why does America have 1 cent pieces?
How else will we be able to make out 13 cents in change without our beloved pennies?
Okay. Who really uses enough pennies to care what they look like? Really.
I have a jew joke...
I HATE pennies! They're always the grimiest of the coinage, that and they're completely fucking useless. I actually use pennies maybe once a year, I'm looking at 6 of the useless bastards right now. Some poor Dime's been mixed up in them.
New design? Lets start by removing that "in god we trust" B.S. - what happened to separation of gov't and religion?
Go cry somewhere else. Besides, "Seperation of Church and state" is not actually in the constitution. Inside the constitution though, it does say shall no laws be made against religion, but church and state are not completely separate. I'm a fucking atheist and "in god we trust" doesn't bother me at all, you want to know why? I'm not the type of atheist that, when he hears someone believes in god, doesn't go up in their face and tell them they are wrong.

Read a few posts above and maybe even the previous page, hopefully then you'll get it.
I want my pennies to say "In Odin We Trust"!
Fuck yes! YES YES YES YES YES YES! [editline]01:57PM[/editline]
English coins mention god on them. What's the big deal?
It should say something that is not fucking retarded. Something involving liberty would work.
Why does it look fake.
it's the on the internet, and is not physically in front of you.
Derp ady derpa derp, in god we trust bullcrap, derpa derp!
A step forward would be removing pennies completely.
No, A real step forward would be to get rid of the 1$ dollar bill and and make 2$ coins.
It costs 2 cents to make a penny. 2 fucking cents. Forget a new design, the penny needs to be raised in value to at least make up for the cost to make it.
A nice change to the penny but I'm gonna miss the old design.
I liked the old one better... But they're cleaner now.
Should just get rid of the penny, it is really annoying and it would be so much easier without it.
New design? Lets start by removing that "in god we trust" B.S. - what happened to separation of gov't and religion?
Or you could ignore it, that works too.
Should stop using pennies altogether, you can't buy anything with them because no one wants them, they're just fractional left overs you get back
"In God We Trust" on the money bothers me. It doesn't bother me enough to get me angry and in a heated debate, though. I'm more bothered by having "-so help your god?" as part of the oath in court. Ironically, if you've got an atheist saying it, you're basically making them lie while swearing to tell the truth. However, it still isn't a huge deal. I do think that a lot of the people that are on the "who gives a shit?" side of this argument are missing the point. Those on the "get rid of that shit" side of the argument are more against the fact that "In God We Trust" and "one nation, under god" are symbolic of the disregard for the founding principles of the country.
You can choose to take a secular oath, you can't choose to spend a secular currency. They're different.
