I think (and hope) a lot of these people are just on edge due to the whole shoehorning in LGBT characters for no other reason than press and pandering to SJWs. I don't really blame them tbh, as long as it's planned from the start I am fine with, but if it just changes or seems out of place, I start to get skeptical. I want a character who is LGBT, because they just are, for no other reasons. And I don't want it paraded around, cause why should someones Sexuality/Gender be used as a marketing tool? Unless it's just me, I am pretty sure a lot of LGBTs don't really see their Sexuality/Gender as a big thing and just consider it something irrelevant. So seeing all this stuff is a bit weird for me personally.
Her official sexuality shouldn't send you into a tantrum.
The SDCC panel way back in July declared that the game itself is not canon to the comics and the shorts, so you can have some alternate universe Tracer that teams up with Reaper who loves to take the horse cock, so the inane complaining and complaining about complaining is even more inane than it needs to be.
I just think it's funny cuz everyone assumed it was Zarya
I don't play or follow Overwatch much, but please don't let Zarya be gay. :disgust: Can someone who know these things validate a story a friend told me about Blizzard teasing one of the characters might be trans? I will be upset if they make Zarya trans.
i think the funniest thing is that this comic is banned in Russia pretty pathetic
I just think it's funny cuz everyone assumed it was Zarya
plot twist: turns out that literally everyone in OW was gay/bi/trans all along

Calling it, reinhardt is a transgender FTM. safe to say it worked out well
Calling it, reinhardt is a transgender FTM. safe to say it worked out well
bastion is transgender but nobody can figure out if they're ftm or mtf [editline]23rd December 2016[/editline] zenyatta is the first eunuch character in video games
Roadhog is just Pudge from Dota 2 with multiple personality disorder.
roadhog and junkrat are platonic lovers, this is verified fact
Man people need to chill out. Trust me, as someone who used to love Marvel(s Comics), this is pretty tame and tastefully done. Just remember it could always be worse.
You gotta ask yourself what kind of idiot editor do you have to be to greenlight that. Even the paneling is shit
Funny you mention that, i can actually point out the exact idiot who actually supports and advocates the writers to do that. [t]http://comicsalliance.com/files/2011/05/tom-brevoort.jpg[/t] [sp]spoilers: he's wrong and Marvel would be going through bankruptcy currently if it werent for Disney, they're literally giving away dozens of free copies of dozens of their comics (comics people dont buy, mind you) to retailers to try and artificially inflate their still pathetic sales figures, all the while continuing the business practice of angering their target audience and pandering to an audience who doesnt buy comics, its really sad how far they've fallen.[/sp]
I don't see why it is necessary to assign a sexuality when it has no purpose to the game at all. It would make sense if it were a narrative driven game where that type of information pertinent, but it seems like Blizzard just wants to feed into fan fiction cancer. I don't think any person in their sane mind have intention roleplaying sexual fantasies in a first-person shooter. I don't play games for identity politics. It isn't necessary to have a disabled, pansexual, hermaphrodite, black-white mix tranny for it to be a game that panders to all audiences. Just make a fucking fun game for god's sake.
Also from someone relatively removed from Overwatch and only recently getting interested, Tracer was setting off my gaydar like a Billy Herrington flick way before it was actually revealed, im surprised people are surprised by it. Like TF2, where the game is the game but theres story springing out from it. Or like Warcraft maybe. Was Warcraft a game first or how did that even start. Pick up the Mockingbird comic Marvel just did.

It doesn't have to be important to the story. It's just an aspect of the character they thought was worth presenting.
Didn't know that... but is being gay really that important to the story?
Its not important to the story. Read the comic, its about her getting a christmas gift for the holidays, its only when she goes home to her girlfriend that its shown she's into the puss, and its not focused on. Its presented as it should be: A detail of the character that makes up the whole but is not the whole of the character.
people are mad bc they're being cockblocked ellen page's reveal was nowhere this bad
ellen page's reveal was nowhere this bad
That was supposed to be a secret? :v:
tbh if you really care about a character being gay, like on a deep level that makes you genuine angry, you're pretty stupid and should stop just saying
tbh if you really care about a character being gay, like on a deep level that makes you genuine angry, you're pretty stupid and should stop just saying
Dont underestimate the waifu game.

Cool Character revealed as gay? ummmm excuse me? tumblr much? nice pr move definetly forced in who even cares about this kind of info???
It isn't though. My thought was that I didn't think it was necessary to note and wouldn't affect the game or story. I would have thought it would have been more appropriate in a narrative driven game. I wasn't aware of the storyline behind OverWatch so it would make sense. My impression was that they just wanted to start assigning random roles in the LGBT spectrum just for the sake of diversity. If sexuality isn't important in the game, why mention it? And please don't call me homophobic, it is entirely disingenuous.
If the character's social lives aren't important in the game, why mention it? Because it's fun to build on a character's personality because they're characters in an overarching world. They're not lifeless shells. They have lives and emotions and stories. A character's sexuality and choice in partner is just another piece of one character in a world that has 25 central characters. It's not a huge deal if it's focused on for a single panel in a small few page comic.

I was taken aback at first I was under the impression that there wasn't really any character development at all to it. And the annoucement of Tracer being gay was just something done to make it look like Blizzard is a welcoming, progressive company because they can make every character a minority rather than trying to create a story.
I simply don't understand how somebody can be affected by the announcement of something as insignificant and inconsequential as a character's sexuality. These things are of no importance whatsoever, except perhaps as a way to advertise a creator's support for something. Why do people care so much about this? Are they that empty and unfulfilled that they have to find strife in fiction?
