Whoever thinks that the "reveal" was worthy of any attention, pro-gay or anti-gay, is acting like a moron. This should be something of a common occurence, not celebratory.
Transphobia or making fun of otherkin isn't a joke, if racism/xenophobia is bannable why can't this be too?
otherkin are fucking jokes, you're mentally unstable if you think you're a plant

But consider the fact the US just elected a president whose vice president is rabidly anti-LGBT. We still have a long way to go before it's not something worth celebrating.

I find it dumb that people are getting mad at a character being gay but I do think it's quite a shallow attempt to add depth to such a bland character. I think this is one of the problems with overwatch, they have really well thematically executed characters like Junkrat and Torbjorn and then they have Soldier 76 and Tracer.
Why are straight people pissed about this? More gay tracer porn is a win for everyone.

Both of those bland characters have elaborate back stories. How can you call them bland characters?

I welcome more LGBT representation. I only have a problem with it if it feels forced/poorly written. Mainly because I think having poorly-written/token characters is far more offensive then having no representation. The problem I have with Tracer being revealed to be gay specifically is that I will see a lot of the discourse™ on Tumblr (Bless Xkit and post blocking).
I don't care either way because tracer's personality and voice makes me want to shoot myself
Mainly because I think having poorly-written/token characters is far more offensive then having no representation.
I find this train of thought really bad and counter productive. You can't expect good writing if there is no poor writing to start out with. By discouraging poor writing you make good writing a lot less likely to happen.
i swear you literally got the interesting and bland characters completely backwards
It's almost like he has different opinion or something

If you're gonna put yourself out there as a professional writer, you need to have some degree of quality to your work. This is commentary unrelated to the Tracer situation though. Just about writing in general.
Now make their next comic about Torbjorn making love to a woman.
Now make their next comic about Torbjorn making love to a woman.
Do we really need backstory for those 8 kids?
I found the guy who doesn't know what he's talking about! Both of those bland characters have elaborate back stories. I'd complain when it's multiple characters being turned gay, seeing as self identifying gay people make up 1.5 to 1.8% of the population. Actually going by demographic a gay man would be slightly more likely to represent real world distrbution then a lesbian. But in reality I'm not gonna bitch about gays being overrepresented by 2 measly percent.
most of my friends are queer, we tend to clump together
Isn't overwatch supposed to represent an international group of diverse individuals?

Either way the ability of people to get outraged over things which don't actually harm or affect them in any reasonable way and to then find a way to justify that outrage never ceases to astound me.
Isn't overwatch supposed to represent an international group of diverse individuals?
yeah, so we should be seeing some characters pop up as bi or asexual, etc, soon, hopefully.
yeah, so we should be seeing some characters pop up as bi or asexual, etc, soon, hopefully.
Actually the asexual character would be better representing people then the bisexual with 1% of people identifying as asexual or lacking a sexual identity and people who identify as bisexual at 0.5% respectively. LBGT demographics are kinda interesting now that I've read up on it.

I love Bastion, they're the best.
also for the record blizzard stated even before release that 'at least' one character was canonically gay but didn't reveal who. She's always been there, the tumblr and other fanfictiony communities has known somebody was gonna come out eventually and this isn't some mad grab for SJW attention
"someone here is gay but we won't tell you" sounds kinda like a grab for SJW attention imo
"someone here is gay but we won't tell you" sounds kinda like a grab for SJW attention imo
Sounds more like "We don't wanna spoil an adorable reveal but we want you guys to know Overwatch is about representing people from all walks of life."
