So the official client. Are you sure it is finished downloading the blockchain?
Yeah, it was finished. I might reinstall, don't know if it can do anything but whatever.

Alright, lets try an online wallet. As long as you have the address correct, you can't possibly loose your coins unless you delete your wallet.dat file.
First, dump your wallet to json format.
https://github.com/jackjack-jj/pywallet
You'll need python 2.x, with bsddb and twisted packages to run this.
After your wallet is dumped, make a new wallet on blockchain.info. Go to Import and choose Import Wallet. Paste your json dumped wallet and then hit Import.
Your bitcoins should appear on blockchain.info if you sent them to the right address.

Of course, if you don't want to go through with all this, try reinstalling it first.
litecoin mining difficulty is so annoying
Bitcoin is now Zimbabwe's official currency. Yea sonuds logical for a whole country to rely on an anonymous cryptocurrency whose price fluctuates :v:.
I announced this change a few weeks back and now they stab me in the back like that. Damn turncoats.
Phew, I managed to sell all my bitcoins and didn't lose any of my earlier investments. However all my profit, only about 25 bux are gone.
Is mtgox ever going to support LTC? Because if not I'm just gonna sell once LTC gets up to $3 on btc (so I can make back my investment). LTC is'nt going anywhere now, just fluctuating between 1.7usd and $2.30, so its only worth it for light day trading.
Also yay after two weeks finally got verified on mtgox so I can actually use it now lol

It will, eventually. It was delayed 1-2 weeks due to the BTC crash afaik.

The LTC api wouldn't be there if they didn't plan on it.
I lost my 0,000256003 bitcoins when instawallet got jacked :(
So I finally got around to installing the offline wallet client thingy, how do I start mining for bitcoins?
Wow.
Butterflylabs actually delivered a working ASIC miner.

Ok, got it, I'm mining 0.0159 per day, does the miner automatically link to my wallet or..?
Ok, got it, I'm mining 0.0159 per day, does the miner automatically link to my wallet or..?
Did you set your pool to withdraw to your wallet?
Wow.

Wow only 6 months late!
BFL is the quintessential example of how not to run a business
Did you set your pool to withdraw to your wallet?
How?
So in 2011 I apparently made an account at bitcointalk.org. Today some stranger sent me an email trying to buy my account for $15. Does an account there have any value?

The stranger would use the account to try to steal money, probably in the loans section.
Bitcoins are up again.. Seem to be steady.
I got my mt gox verified with only a cell pic of my id, no proof of residency, for anyone wondering.
:siren: - Slush's pool (mining.bitcoin.cz) was hacked: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1263448

Good thing I'm on bitparking. Sad to hear that Slush will have to pay out of his own wallet, but that's a sacrifice needed if you want to run a pool.
Litecoin mining still worth it?
Can someone tell me how to link a mining client to an offline wallet?
Can someone tell me how to link a mining client to an offline wallet?
You link the miner to a pool and the pool to your wallet.
So what does people think will happen to Feathercoin?
I've heard people are already trading FC with LTC
How can I solomine without downloading six gigs of blockchain or whatever? :V
I want to start mining bitcoins, but this is all very confusing.
Solomining Bitcoins isn't profitable unless you have a massive hashing rate, you'll end up spending more money on electricity than how many blocks you'd be able to find.
If you want to mine Bitcoin you should try mining from a pool instead of solomine, though mining Bitcoins with a regular desktop now a days isn't really going to get you anywhere since the difficulty is so high
I'd recommend mining Litecoins instead of Bitcoins since they're quite a lot easier to mine
How do I mine from a pool, then?
How do I mine from a pool, then?
I'm not very familiar with other mining software other than CGMiner, but I'll help you out as much as I can.
First you need to register on a Bitcoin pool, OP recommended using OzCoin: https://ozcoin.net/
Once you have registered on the website log in and click on the "Worker" tab:
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7798429/Bitcoin mining tut/step 1.png[/t]
Then you'll see all your workers, if you already have a worker there you can go ahead and delete that if you want and make your own, or you can keep it. In my case I made a new one:
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7798429/Bitcoin mining tut/step 2.png[/t]
You can download CGMiner from here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28402.0
Once you have installed CGMiner where you want it you'd want to make a .bat file to launch CGMiner with the desired configurations. The configurations depends on what graphics card you own, in my case I use a Radeon HD 6950, I don't really know how to mine with an nVidia card if you have that.
What you want to write in this bat file would be something like this:
*start /d "location of the folder\cgmine"* cgminer.exe -o the_pools_adress:port -u your_worker -p you_workers_password -I the intensity you mine at (16 or higher might crash your computer)
-I varies very depending on what hardware you're using, in my case I can have mine on maximum 12 without getting hardware errors (indicated as HW in CGMiner, if you get any hardware errors you should try to lower the intensity)
* you don't need this part unless you want the bat file outside of the cgmine folder
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7798429/Bitcoin mining tut/step 3.png[/t]
In my case using the EU OzCoin server it would be:
start /d "c:\Programfiles\CGMiner\cgmine" cgminer.exe -o http://eustratum.ozco.in:3333 -u copopiy.1 -p 123 -I 12
If you did everything correctly it should look something like this after you let it run for a few minutes:
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7798429/Bitcoin mining tut/step 4.png[/t]
Almost the same principle applies to mining everything else as well (at least that I know of), so once you get the hang of this you can easily jump over to Litecoins for instance.
Hope it wasn't too confusing, if you got any more questions I'll try my best to answer them!
I just got my mt.gox account verified. I was planning on putting some money in there and doing some speculating. But the fees alone will cost me over $100. It isn't worth it for something I will probably just lose anyway.
