When you're a guy with like 10k subs and a guy with 2 million contacts you and asks for a favour, you take that offer.
It may open up better opportunities in the future and or it may not, but it's still worth taking the risk.

There are very rare exception but thats pretty much it.
Payment in exposure only really works if you get a proper credit/shout out and if you yourself don't care about money at all.
Exposure just doesn't work when you do that kind of work and expect any monetary gain from it.
