Facepunch was the first and likely only forum I've ever been to. Haven't had a PC for quite a while so all this "lol xD" slang stuff was never something I got in touch with. FP helped improving my english skills quite a bunch and also what it means to have as much cookies as possible.
facepunch taught me how to be based
Facepunch helped me lose around fifty pounds.
SweFox has taught me and some more than others, to not be a nice and kind person, along with being really gullible .
As someone interested in games / computers / programming its great to have somewhere to discuss / ask questions about that stuff. Also yeah it helped me stop making horrible meme posts.
It started my career in the gaming industry.

Facepunch was to me like a huge penis of reality being slapped in my face. Having a generally skeptical and somewhat hostile community has really given me some perspective on things. My opinions, feelings and suggestions aren't the most important things in this world even if I should feel so, and I cannot demand that people give me attention. Attention and respect has to be earned. For me, Facepunch has been a genuinely interesting social arena that has given me many interesting perspectives on myself.
It taught me the meaning of the box.
Made me realize how fucking dumb I was back in 2010 Now I at least feel like I've improved a little bit. I still love you death god
The SFS&LA and SGF&S threads have helped me countless times with relationship and other social issues.
Believe it or not it really did teach me forum etiquette. If I hadn't come across Facepunch I would indeed be making dumb posts like "LOL XD" and "Le Meme" I owe my life to Facepunch.
Helped me realize how easy a few lines of text posted periodically over time can change a lot of people's opinions regarding different matters. It also made me realize how easily facts gets distorted and how naive people are. Not just on Facepunch of course, but any large enough community. I wrote a paper/essay as during my first year in university that addressed this. And it got pretty neat grades. I've been thinking about working more around this topic, but I'm kinda lost and don't have time. Else, it's definitely the English.
My grammar is still pretty bad but facepunch helped a lot. Taught me to not be an idiot (still need help on that though). Helped me with my anxiety and talking with other people.
Made me realize how fucking dumb I was back in 2010 Now I at least feel like I've improved a little bit.
You haven't seen dumb unless you've seen my posts I made on another forum back in 2005. Someone replying to me:
Swebonny: If you can't post something meaningful, don't post at all. We don't want to read a load of incomprehensible rubbish in this topic, take it to the Bash Pit in the future.

quote:Originally posted by Swebonny Hmm ok this is it... DoggFather posted a Topic. "Free Registration...." What was the first soldat realeased for public...? DoggFather asked Well it was soldat94c. In the topic it says i should send the answer it to Meandor. ¨ Sended to him. Got a (Please refrain from swearing)ing BOg link with a man that is halfcutten in the head. Well that was nice Meandor damn idiot. Meh how could i be so damn tricked....25 free registration Translation: ThaDoggfather sent swebonny and a few other people a PM saying something about how they're giving out 25 free registrations if you can answer one question and send the answer to Meandor: "What was the first soldat version realeased for the public" to which the answer was soldat94c. So the "contestants" sent their answer to Meandor and recieved a link to a disgusting picture, but no registration. Now Swebonny's pissed off. And, according to frogboy, this was all just a ruse by ThaDoggfather to get Meandor back for spamming his inbox. Any questions?
Someone having to translate a post I made because it was a mess.
Umm the problem is already solved...and umm we have already leaved the Vote kick stuff ;) And [CENSORED] [CENSORED] [CENSORED]
I made loads of good posts like that.
If you are the same Swebonny as the one from Soldatforums, your English has improved tremendously :v:
Apparently my posts made such an impact that this guy still remembers it. I was a great person back then. wish i returned to being that [censored] guy again

Fix Up Look Sharp saved me from being a smelly sweaty nerd and made me more confident
Got me together with my girlfriend. We've been together for 5 years in a little over a month, and we've been living together for almost 3.
It taught me to not be a terrible poster, I still make bad posts every now and then but it happens far and few now. On a negative side, Facepunch also taught me a lot about tyranny of the majority.

The fact that you make them all down to earth, simple to read and to the point just makes it perfect.

Made me proud of myself, becuase i realized there are always people worse then you.
facepunch make me english practicate good, very!
Back in the day I used to post shit, like pointless memes and trolling shit that was stupid. Then people told me to go away because I was a bad poster. Fast forward some years and I realized how people around the world have opinions on stuff, then there was the computer hardware, software and programming side here. The people here are very knowledgable and people like me want to learn to code, want to know why my program isn't working properly, stuff like that. Then there was that one thread I made about making a game company with my friends over 2 years ago and you guys helped my young self figure stuff out. Fast forward to today, I'm taking my third year of computer science and computer tech, enjoying it for the most part. I also ask for help on programming and life stuff in general on this forum. There's also the drama and was entertaining such as the guy who was gonna put legal action on people running some game mode to bit coins to someone posting a photo and everyone was photoshopping the shit out of it. I also learned quiet a bit about fandoms, mostly about furries and bronies. There were a few threads I read over the years and I essentially learned about those fandoms, and how there's always a group of idiots that make the whole fandom look bad. I learned that there's a lot of diversity and open-ness in those fandoms and how people like to bash them whenever a thread comes up. Then there's the shitstorming. There was also the gay thread that I at some point went onto it and said hi, being like the only straight guy on it and everyone was like, "Sure you are ;3". They didn't believe it until some posts later and it was just a chill thread where they just talk about stuff. It's basically general chat. I think going through those threads about fandoms and homosexuality made me more open minded. I believe that Facepunch has improved my life, or at least taught me things that I might not have learned until later in life when it might be too late.
It motivated me to work in Photoshop, use SFM, create art, and modding.
