I've know it was illegal to ride with out a helmet since I was 5...
Its like driving with out a seat belt... the law isn't in place to make you're life a hard time and bring in money through tickets, its to keep you're ass a live.
I share with someone, so it's got very little room not occupied by books.
And it's a deep purple mountain bike that's like 10 years old :saddowns:
There you go making me feel bad.
If I lived in Cali with you, I'd buy you whatever bike you wanted within $400, but alas, I am in Michigan :saddowns:
This is damage with a helmet on.
I would be fucking dead without it.

Wear a helmet, avoid paying a ticket, and stay safe.
Nice Morphine drip.
He is probably under 18. The style is "Herp, fuck da law, i no car fer saftey, i no look cuul.:. It's just "not cool" to wear a helmet. If you want to go cracking your skull open, don't blame the government.
Why do you assume so much? I only got cited BECAUSE I'm under 18. Next, I respect justice, not unfit use of badges (and I'm not saying this was -- I dislike the law, not the officer). I never did blame it on the government, where are you reading this?

You said you didn't know it was illegal. In a year, watch you crack you head open then say "OH MAH GOD! WHY DIDN'T THE GOVERNMENT WARN ME!"
No, because I bike on the sidewalks.
That's illegal too, wow, you lil rebel you :smug:
I don't get what you are worked up about. Its a law. Its for safety. My helmet has saved me from facial lacerations several times.
What kind of bike were you riding, and where?
A twin stoke dirtbike on a seasonal road that I shouldn't have been on.
I never give cops my name. Always combine my friends name.

In a year I'll be most likely driving.
A twin stoke dirtbike on a seasonal road that I shouldn't have been on.
I don't ride a motorized bicycle. Nor do I ride it off road.

I try. :downs:
It should be optional like condoms are...
FOR ANAL SEX!!!
I usually ride my bike without a helmet, cops have passed me by, no troubles with them.
Where do you live op?

This is a dumb thread.
I usually ride my bike without a helmet, cops have passed me by, no troubles with them.

Los Angeles, California.
Don't get me wrong, I've passed by dozens of cop cars in the past year or so, they don't care. I just met the wrong cop at the wrong time.
It's legal here :smug:
But seriously, the number of illegal things I apparently did, near cops too, never got me any tickets. Even the bikecops did most of them too anyways. Cops here are pretty loose when it's about anything without an engine.
I don't ride a motorized bicycle. Nor do I ride it off road.
That would be a valid excuse,
If the accident weren't caused by a truck t-boning me at 40mph.
What's with the gaybow? Anal sex isn't just limited to homosexuals. I wouldn't mind fucking a women in her ass hole.
Not in Florida. Don't even have to wear one while riding a motorcycle here
So do people who smoke marijuana. Still, facepunch (and the general population) sympathizes with them.
My point isn't that I didn't break the law, the point is that it's an absurd law. We don't need laws telling us what's safe for us.
If they didn't do that then people would be dying in heaps
You werent wearing a helmet while driving a motorbike?
You/your friend deserve far worse than a ticket and minor injuries.

Not the smart ones.

Where did I say it was a motorbike?
First, calm down. Seriously. Internet tough guy right here.
Next, This isn't comparable to a seat belt. If you get in a head-on collision at 60 mp/h - a seat belt could save your life. A helmet, will not.
If you get in a collision in a car at 60+ mp/h you probably won't survive either.
On top of that, you will survive a 30 mile a hour crash off a bike with a helmet, you'd be fucked up with not wearing the OTHER safety gear you should wear, 40-45 mp/h crash in full pressure suit and other gear (dirt biking) and all I felt was the initial force of impact which knocked the wind out of me for a short time.
It honestly saves lives.
A twin stoke dirtbike on a seasonal road that I shouldn't have been on.
A motor bike is different than a Bicycle. Obviously a cyclist is open to far less injury than a motorist. It's common sense to wear a helmet on a motor bike. But a mountain bike, or any bike for that matter that you don't do stunts on and isn't powered by some kind of motor isn't very dangerous.
dont pay the ticket what are they gonna do tow your bike
Ya know, an ounce of prevention equals a pound of cure.
Then again, I'm a major hypocrite because I also don't wear one. x) Though I think in the state of Florida, 16 and up isn't forced.
I thought it was common sense, here in Georgia in like Kindergarten the fact that you have to wear a helmet when riding a bike. It's even plastered all over the handlebars when you first buy a bicycle, there's generally one of those little stickers saying that it's illegal for a minor to go without a helmet and to always have working reflectors and all of that jazz.
A helmet will save you from some kind of injury eventually. Whether it's a minor or a major one, so why not get one you like? No one will call you a faggot if you wear a full face, they'll just think you do some intense bike riding.

They're also super comfortable, just takes a little getting used to with the added weight and decreased field of vision.
I plan on wearing one once I purchase my road bike. It's too tedious to carry along with me all day simply because I bike to and from school, a 5 minute trip.

Then walk, if its a 5 minute trip on bike it'll be a 10 min trip walking, problem solved, you don't have to wear a helmet.

I bike faster than 2x my walking speed. It's about 20 minutes of walking.
wow you sure you didn't fall off your bike and hit your head before?
So do people who smoke marijuana. Still, facepunch (and the general population) sympathizes with them.
Most people don't sympathize people who go out in public in front of law enforcement and break laws.

Yes we do. It's cheaper than spending thousands on a funeral when a kid falls off their bike and hits their head when they should have worn a helmet.

Not the best thing to have on something supposed to be protecting you.
If you don't find your helmet to be comfortable, find one that is, there's more than one type out there.
