So apparently it's against the law not to wear a helmet while biking?

He wouldn't have followed up on the ticket, should have given false information. Easy opt-out right there.
it's not against the law.
Not everywhere.
Everybody should wear a helmet while on a bike, cycle bike or motorbike reason is, is that it protects you from serious head injuries and death, at the end of the day it's an easy helmet to put on so why won't people put them on? THEY SAVE YOUR LIFE!
These kind of laws can't possibly be enforced for every case.
it's not against the law.
the other day at mcdonalds there was this cop on his motorcycle waiting at the road using his futurist looking scaner radar that tracks the speed and info of cars, and bicyclist rode by without helmets and he didn't care.
it is, just in some areas it's not enforced.
"Just gotta love those cops who have nothing to do but pick on teens just trying to enjoy their day."
I'm not too sure about this but keep in mind (I have a feeling) that they have some sort of quota to meet. They have to put food on the table so easy tickets are the best way to go.
First, calm down. Seriously. Internet tough guy right here.
Next, This isn't comparable to a seat belt. If you get in a head-on collision at 60 mp/h - a seat belt could save your life. A helmet, will not.
you're such an idiot
i'm going to need a helmet to protect me from your idiocy

ehhhh =/=
quotas don't really exist, they just have expectations they're required to meet. for example, if cop A hands out 200 tickets in november, and cop B hands out 80, cop B is more likely to be let go during layoffs than cop A. there's no SET quotas, but a job is a job, and they have to perform their best

Wear a helmet bro, I'd rather look stupid then be stupid after I fall on my head without a helmet.

Not wearing a helmet while biking is against the law.
wait bicycle or motorbike?
I find it funny that so many of you are mad at him for not wearing a helmet and are telling him that he deserves to die. If you really think he deserves to die, why tell him to wear a helmet?
Sure, but forcing people to do it and fining if they don't wear it ? it's too much.
Having a law enforcing it means many more people will do it. Fining them for not doing it is just adding motivation to buy a helmet and be on the safe side(I.e., they don't get hurt/fined).
it's because cops despise teenagers and naturally assume they have no respect for anything. Cops can be some of the most irrational protectors of rationality
OP I hope you have an accident and die of head injuries
then you'd appreciate the law
in canada you can bike without a helmet legally once you're 18
u mad bro?

He deserves to die if he doesn't wear a helmet!
:eng101:
Wearing a helmet is easy to do, It saves your life! I would rather have my helmet on and live a good life than not wear it fall over and smash my head in to point of disability or die
I posted earlier, but I might as well bring it up:
Not wearing protection (Condoms, eye protection, face shields, helmets, ect) is possibly the dumbest thing you can possibly do. I don't think you DESERVE to do what you were about to do without that protection. It takes half a fucking second to put it on and if you don't, you either...
a) Die.
b) Lose your eyesight forever.
c) Disfigure your face.
d) Serious brain damage
e) Get pregnant
f) Get STDs

He is right 110% right, listen to him!
I never wear a helmet. Today it almost became a choice that would come back to bite me.
Especially since my rear brakes are disassembled due to wheel damage.
And I usually go through intersections at speeds that a driver probably can't see me.
Stopping on a dime while rotating up and forward and leaning millimeters from my rear wheel is always a nice adrenaline rush though. Damn I'm lucky to have good balance.
If something happens, my awesome ushanka should protect me. I hope.
I remember I used to get shit for wearing a helmet from idiots hanging out on corners, I don't know why it was worth yelling down the street at me about my helmet, but they really loved it. Though I always wore my helmet, because on 3 separate occasions friends from my school died from head trauma in bike accidents, none wore helmets. I didn't really see the purpose until the one time I fell off my bike head first over the handlebars and landed head on into a tree off the pavement, I sprained my neck and shoulders, but at least I didn't get anything permanent or lethal if I was unlucky enough.

You should wear a helmet cos one day somthing bad will happen and you won't have a helmet and I'm sure you don't wanna die or be disabled for the rest of your life right?
fight the po-po
Where I live you don't need to wear a helmet when riding a non-motorized bike. Oddly enough back in September I was riding my bike down the hill my dorm is on and hit a car that was pulling in to a parking lot at the base of the hill that you can't see due to a bush. I hit the driver side window with the right side of my face. I broke my noise, 2 bones in my face, and chipped 2 teeth. Everything recovered fine so that was good. When I was at both the ER and the dentist they said that a helmet wouldn't have prevented my injuries. I wear a helmet when riding on the sidewalk now. Wearing a helmets not embarrassing its just annoying having to carry it around. I just wear my offroad helmet on the streets now,
its this kind. \/

TL;DR
I mountain bike, when I am offroad i always wear a helmet because I like to live. Now I wear one when I ride on the sidewalks too, due to an accident.

See avatar.
By bike you mean bicycle?
Cause what kind of pussy country demands you wear a helmet while cycling, and why are you guys al saying he should have worn a helmet?
It's just a bicycle, deal with it.
Edit:
Ouch, the dumbs...they hurt. :smith:
Do wear my helmet on my moped though even if it isn't mandatory.
oh god your moped is so much better how fast do you go man
you break the speed barrier?
At everyone saying "omg have fun when you're dead." How often do you hear of people losing balance, falling off their bikes and cracking their heads open? Also, fuck helmets, you gotta look cool while rolling in style.
I mean if it were a motored vehicle, then yeah be safe and wear a helmet but god damn you're all a bunch of worrywarts if you think you need to wear a helmet down the street.
