Lol guy getting dumbs for not liking it.
"My musical taste is fact!!1"
when you post "I don't pink floyd" in a pink floyd thread what do you expect
the only exception to this is threads for scenecore and nu metal bands
It is definitely worth learning to like prog rock. Not much else to say. Except that if you dont like the type of music dont call it overrated.
Edit: Weren't you the guy who liked The Jonas Brothers? :psyduck:
I like prog to some extent. But alot of times it just gets silly. I never meant to call Dark Side a bad album. It is just... that if no one knew the cult status of that album, no one would really care for it. Everything in this thread seems so "forced". I mean, have you ever met a person who had the exact same taste in music as you? Like if you were both to rank your top 50 favourite bands in order, the lists would look the same? Most likely not! Because we all have different tastes in music. Yet, everybody has the same one favourite album! COINCIDENCE? I think not...
:psylon:
And yes, I like the Jonas Brothers. Though I don't see how that is relevant. :crossarms:

Oh, now I understand.
Saying that people in this thread are forced to like the album makes it sound like a concentration camp or something.
I completely disagree with this being an album that no one really likes, they just pretend to.

Come on.. you know exactly what I mean. This music can be very hard for people to appreciate. It is very far from your average pop/rock song. So liking this brings you the feeling that you're "above" everyone else with their "simple minds". Unfortunately, people judge other people based on their music preferences, so it's understandable that people try to like this kind of music and ruthlessly ignore and dismiss anything that's considered to be "simple", such as the Jonas Brothers for example.. or rap.
I mean this gets so freaking obvious, because when anybody mentions they don't like said album, people jump on it and go lunatic, just so they can seem to be more hardcore fans in the eyes of others. That's not how genuine fans react. Genuine fans understand the complexity, they understand that the feeling they get from this album is so hard to grasp, that they don't even bother trying to explain it. Let alone shove it down your throat. The way prog music grows and cultivates in one person's head is something that's too special and unique to ever be fully shared.
I hope I'm making some sense.
I dont expect anyone in this forum to have listened to and had the affect from music like mine. I'm not saying it is 'wrong' to dislike them. But it seems you have put effort to like Jonas Brothers, least you can do is try to learn about great prog rock.
Yes of course it gets a little crazy, but thats one of the great things about it. Learn to be crazy with it :v:
I dont want to force it, because if you genuinely dislike the music completely then nothing can change it.
Edit: Also it is so much easier to like teen pop music because there isn't much to think about. I can listen to them and enjoy them, but its not something i feel worth doing very often.
I like this album, but I hate Money.
I found a copy of it lying around the house one day
Listened to it with a friend, was very dissapointed :(
You and me both. Most of the songs are so boring I feel like I'm gonna fall asleep. Toss in some really annoying samples and monotone singing on top of that, and the sum changes people's lives?? Why anyone would get so excited over this album is beyond me. But I guess since they labeled it "prog" no one will ever dare admit they dislike it. Not even to themselves.
what I was too afraid to say
Pink Floyd is easily one of the worst bands around. The guitar playing sucks ass.
It is just... that if no one knew the cult status of that album
I dont really care about that part of it. I heard it was great but there are mixed thoughts on if it was a great 'album'.
-hit new post instead of "edit"-

I like prog! One of my all-time favourite bands, Angra, have alot of prog influences in their music. I also like classic prog bands such as Rush, Camel, and Hawkwind. I don't like Pink Floyd very much since I think it lacks both the progressive elements of prog and the catchy elements of rock. Atleast Dark Side of the Moon did for most of the time. And yes, like you said, teen pop music is very easy to "figure out" which is why I have put next to no effort in learning to like them. I haven't had to!
Off-topic, why haven't you made a soul thread yet?

I overuse this image
Anyway, back to talking about the album. What is your favorite song on it? I think mine would be Breathe, but then again playing Money on the guitar and bass is so much fun.
Brain Damage/Eclipse (2 songs I know but I count them as one due to how well the flow together) are probably my favourites, with Great Gig in the Sky closely following.

I really don't know what you mean. I like this album because I think the music is fucking amazing, not because it makes me feel that I'm "above" anyone who doesn't like it. I'm not jumping on you and going lunatic because you don't like the album; I'm okay with that. It's that you're saying that most people who claim to like it like it because they feel they're better than other "simple minded" people, which is most likely wrong in most cases, though I'm sure there are some people like that. And the comment about the Jonas Brothers was mainly a joke, though I honestly don't know how people enjoy all that Disney rock stuff, but each man to his own. Basically, I'm not bothered by the fact you and others don't like it, it's that you are telling those who do like it that they only like it because they have some superiority complex, which in most cases is not true.
Does that make sense? :v:

And to this, I'd say either Time or The Great Gig in the Sky.
I've had this album ready to listen to on my computer for months but no I haven't gone near it.
Should I be castrated y/n

Fuck yeah!
Fuck yeah!
Wherabouts?
I'm going to London O2 arena on a Saturday
And David Gilmour said he was choosing which date he would be at, so we're guessing he would choose somewhere in Britain, somewhere central, and somewhere big, like
London
O2 Arena
Saturday

lol you would kill yourself if you heard some post rock
One of my mates still rubs it in that he saw Floyd at Live8, what a cunt eh?

No you should just listen to it. Listen to it a few times.
Floyd is okay... progressive rock has a lot more to offer.
That's where a lot of people are mistaken, they get too drawn into the 'world' of Pink Floyd.
I love the world of Pink Floyd. Nothing wrong with it.
