Incredible album. wish I still had it on cassette :( get high and listen to The Wall, also. that takes you places even if you're dead sober. that's what albums should be like today.
I would argue that it really isn't about drugs. Pink is feeling down and sick, they decide to inject himself when something, and he gets comfortably numb and compares it to the time when he was really sick as a child, The song seems to be more about the industry's push their musicians through extraordinary circumstances such as tranquilizing them so they can perform in a show. But yes, the song does involve a drug, I just didn't choose to list it.
I think Waters himself said the song was an account of something his manager did to him before a gig (sedate him)
I heard it was about a tranquilizer David Gilmour was injected with because of Hepatitis B.
I think Waters himself said the song was an account of something his manager did to him before a gig (sedate him)
Yeah, he was having stomach cramps and they decided to inject him with a tranquiler so he could perform. He became really numb and didn't have very much fun. That's what the plot of the song is based off of.
Play it with Wizard of Oz. CHANGE YOUR LIFE
Play it with Wizard of Oz. CHANGE YOUR LIFE
It's amazing how well they sync together isn't it? Pink Floyd Said "Dark Side of the Rainbow" is a coincidence. Sometimes I find that hard to believe...
What would be harder to believe is that they tailored an album to fit exactly with a movie even with multiple plays of the album. The effect of Pink Floyd working with the movie is just an effect the music has, do this, mute whatever and listen to the album, it has a tendency to work with it. Me and a friend were trying it out with a lot of shows, and it even worked with MythBusters.
Play it with Wizard of Oz. CHANGE YOUR LIFE
Synch Meddle with 2001: A Space Odyssey, it's just as, if not even more fucking amazing...
Play it with Wizard of Oz. CHANGE YOUR LIFE
I just realized I still have yet to try this

Disregard the fact Pink Floyd no longer really exists
The Japan Vinyl Version is incredible. Some amazing quality there. Great album. Also, can't wait for Roger Waters' The Wall Tour opening night! I'm there for the first 2 nights.
im seeing pink floyd october 17 :)
Not when they kinda like disbanded over a decade ago and stuff...
Some people would argue that Pink Floyd was over after The Final Cut.
Comfortably Numb?
Watch the movie. It's about sealing yourself off from the world so badly that you become numb to the world around you. War, suffering, death, etc.
Eh, the movie interpretation can't really be considered the real interpretation, especially since the director was taking it to directions that the band disagreed with. But even so, songs are always open to interpretation and that would be a valid one.
Some people would argue that Pink Floyd was over after The Final Cut.
Well those people obviously didn't listen to Division Bell. Which was amazing.
Some people would argue that Pink Floyd was over after The Final Cut.
Crippled? Yes. Over? Fuck no.
Goddamnit! Thanks to this thread I'm now addicted to Pink Floyd :saddowns:
Goddamnit! Thanks to this thread I'm now addicted to Pink Floyd :saddowns:
You're welcome :colbert: I might not listen to as much classic rock as I used to, but I still love the Floyd. It's Gilmour, I swear.
Easy Star All Stars mad a reggae remake of the entire album call Dub Side of the Moon. It's pretty sweet.
Goddamnit! Thanks to this thread I'm now addicted to Pink Floyd :saddowns:
There should be a thread for the band Yes. People are starting to forget that greatness too.
I just bought Obscured by Clouds and I was a bit dissapointed. However, The Gold It's In The... is great and Stay and also Wot's Uh The Deal
