I'll poke at him to keep drawing. Might update if there's a lot of junk.
Is it that time already?
It was the 9th. Must be that time again...
oh god please stay alive :ohdear:
Sorry, guys, my computer shit itself over the weekend (and I was banned), and I had to get an entirely new one because the motherboard was completely fried. However, I've returned with more comics than you can shake a stick at! Well, I guess you could shake a stick at them but I don't think they'd react. Be on the lookout for them later today. And, again, sorry about the absence.
Man, I had to go to a LOT of trouble to fix these comics up, since I don't have Photoshop installed on this new computer yet, nor did I have my scanner, tablet, or any other things I use for computing, so I had to get all those back, then scan the comics, etc. HOWEVER, Photoshop refused to install correctly, so I had to look for alternatives because I flat-out refuse to pirate it even though I legally own it. Alas, I couldn't find one that gave a good quality output, so these few pages are un-rotated. I'm still looking for a fix. I hope you enjoy them, because it's probably the last time I'll have to put forth that much effort. There's five of them though so that should make up for it. :V Page 89 Page 90 Page 91 Page 92 Page 93 So, key points in case you missed them: Rose is back! Yaaaaaay! And she teamed up with our old buddy Jed! Double yaaaaaay! That's all there really is to say on the matter for now! Exclamations! On a slightly more depressing note, Jack is starting to go insane, as is evidenced by how he no longer sees the effects of his splicing. He's also starting to see things! While I'd find it more interesting to have him go completely nuts, I can't do that because he eventually goes back to the surface in the good ending anyway, so I'll stick with little things here and there. Keep in mind that we, the readers of the comic, always see from Jack's perspective, so he's slowly becoming an unreliable narrator, which is a classic first-person storywriting technique. It's not really what I had in mind but I just came up with it right now on the spot and rolled with it! Join me tomorrow when I post the other three pages I owe you for not updating for a week (counting tomorrow's page)!
Woohoo! finally. Epic 5 pages right der.
What's a chucklehead?
What's a chucklehead?
According to Wikipedia:
Chucklehead (1988–1997) was a Boston-based funk band which toured nationally and released three albums. The band was nominated for a Boston Music Award for best funk band in 1996.[1]
But we all know that's ridiculous, because it's apparently an old-timey insult as well. The Scout from TF2 says "Chucklenuts", but I don't think that means the same thing. :v: [editline]09:43PM[/editline] Dictionary.com reports:
chuck·le·head    /ˈtʃʌkəlˌhɛd/ Show Spelled[chuhk-uhl-hed] Show IPA –noun a stupid person; blockhead. Origin: 1725–35; chuckle clumsy (chuck2 + -le) + head —Related forms chuck·le·head·ed, adjective
So apparently it is a real, old OLD old-timey word somehow.
I feel old because I knew what it meant without needing a dictionary. :saddowns:
Oh, you've listened to Chucklehead's music before? :v: Anyway, update coming later today. I disregarded updating the past two days because I forgot that I don't update on weekends. DO NOT WORRY, because all your page needs shall be fulfilled.
I meant as a name/insult. :sigh:
I meant as a name/insult. :sigh:
I need to find a new "I'm being sarcastic" emote, :v: is losing its touch. Side note, my scanner decided to up and shit itself, so no comics for today, unfortunately. It appears I'll have to root around in my closet for the CD and reinstall it from the ground up for some reason.
I still use :v: a lot for sarcasm, heh
Generally a combination of :v: and italics can convey sarcasm pretty well.
obviously. :v:
Can i just say, these comics are getting quite addictive, it seems a let down when i dont see the OP updated D: But anyways, you got you're own problems and i fully understand. :v:
Sorry about that, folks, my scanner up and shat itself again, so I had to go root around for the CD and reinstall it and that took foreverrrrrrrr. Then I decided to fix my Photoshop problems so I had to go root around for THAT CD and that also took foreverrrrrrrr. But anyway, I have three pages prepared for you today, then three tomorrow, then hopefully I'll be all caught up. I'm starting to lose track of the days I've missed. :( Page 94 Page 95 Page 96 And so, having evaded Rose for now using the exploitation of noble gasses, Jack is now on his way to meet my personal favorite of the few completely unexplored characters in Bioshock. Y'know, Rose really has taken a beating so far. She's been burnt, electrocuted, pounced on, scratched, whacked, shot, and punched off of a high ledge into freezing cold oceanwater. She's like the Terminator or something. I'll be honest with you, readers, I still haven't decided if she dies or not, because I just love bringing her back to her feet every time she gets knocked out. Rose is very versatile as a main villain, but 2k didn't really play it out that way. She was meant to introduce you to Spider splicers and that's all they did with her, but I guess I took that a step further. I always figured Spider splicers were the most experienced, had the most abilities. They're definitely the most resilient to bullets to the chest, that's for sure.
I can almost draw as good as OP almost...
I suggest killing rose in a monty python and the holy grail black knight sort of way.
I thought the comic was quite funny :) I laughed at the anti-aliasing line the most.
i am so bored right now :v: [editline]10:56PM[/editline]
I suggest killing rose in a monty python and the holy grail black knight sort of way.
Well, now that you mention it... Nah, that'd never work.
I demand more buff arms.
I've recently been alerted that certain pages aren't working. If you find any, please let me know their numbers and I will get around to reuploading them as soon as possible.
Man, I am really bad about updating this comic on a consistent schedule. Sorry about that. Also, I'd advise you to read the comics first and THEN the text below the comics since it kind of spoils what happens so I can explain myself. Page 97 Page 98 Page 99 And just like that, it's over. All it takes is one fatal shot to kill someone and looks like poor ol' Jack is on the receiving end of it for once. Keep in mind though that Jack did die way earlier on in the comic and was instantly revived, but you never know, he may not be dead. When I started this comic, I planned on having Jack die once and only once, and I used that joke at the beginning. Only recently, however, have I realized that Jack can die an infinite number of times and no harm will ever come to him save for his sanity a little. I mean, it's not that I'm saying killing Jack in cold blood isn't a dick move, it totally is, but I have to do things like this every now and then to remind the readers that Jack is still human. It's not like he's some sort of Superman that can withstand hundreds of bullets. I mean, he can, depending on your style of play, but for the purpose of this comic, he bruises like a banana, just like a real human would. Jack may be a 2D cartoon, but he's completely capable of getting his ass kicked. I don't want him to have plot armor for the whole comic like he does in the real game. In the real Bioshock, you, the player, almost never come to any harm that disrupts your path, except MAYBE when you're frozen in a block of ice for a few minutes during Fort Frolic. The only thing that really breaks the immersion is the loading screens, which I've already made several jokes about along the way. It's just that I won't let Jack get away from Rapture so easily, because I want to give him life. He's supposed to be you, and your choices make or break the game for you. You can't ever die for real, and the game makes sure to let you know, so you can't really suffer for some unforseen consequences such as running out of ammo or similar situations. But then I thought, what happens if another major character dies? Does it throw off the entire story? Do they get revived at a vita-chamber? It wouldn't happen in the real game, so should I have it happen in the comic? I was confronted with these choices a couple of times throughout the story, this last page here being the biggest. I was going to have them just kill Julie on the spot, but then I figured that'd be too harsh, even for villains, so I let what happens to her ambiguous until we next see her. The comic has gone through a ton of changes since the beginning. It was all humor and no seriousness way back in the first group of pages, but when part two started to roll around, I realized that I couldn't keep doing that, because Bioshock is not a silly game. It has its share of grim humor but other than that it's a dark science fiction (if you could call it that) thriller. When I started I knew I'd have to deal with it eventually and I figured that I'd already come this far, why stop now? So I just mixed in some seriousness with the funny and called it a day. Crappily Drawn Bioshock Comic is still a "humor" comic, it's just got a little bit more serious to counteract the constant onslaught of visual puns and meta-humor. If you look hard enough there is a joke in every page, I just try not to be so obvious about it sometimes. As you may be able to tell, this is my largest variation from the plot yet. Usually you go collect the stuff for Julie and then Ryan kills her and that's it, nothing ever comes up relating to her again. Well, as I am, I have to give a purpose to everything, so I upped her role a little. She isn't going to be around for the rest of the comic, but at least until the Lazarus Vector is complete. Certain characters (in fact almost all of them) die in Bioshock as a result of your actions as the player. But it's just something you have to do. I mean, would you rather Julie die or all of Rapture die? They're both horrible choices I know, but games of "would you rather" don't ever go long without getting dirty and terrifying. And before you ask, no, I'm not going to have Jack kill Sander Cohen at the end of Fort Frolic to get his locked art piece's key. That'd be rude. The man did give you a crossbow after all. By the way, yes, I did end part two at page 99 on purpose. Your 100th page is going to have to wait, sirs! :p Anyway, long and COMPLETELY ENTHRALLING (read: boring) interlude aside, this concludes part two! Prepare for the long haul, folks, because it's on its way.
What you've been doing with the comic has been great.
so, uh I just finished watching American Psycho again because it is awesome
mrow also stop getting banned, boyo :v:
To bad there's only dead cats in rapture.
Continuing with the onslaught of American Psycho references, someone wanted me to reference Sullivan (the "have my badge" guy) way back in Neptune's Bounty and I forgot, so here. Here is your Sullivan reference. Also I wanted an excuse to draw Andrew Ryan since I haven't in a long ass time. [editline]09:16PM[/editline] I just want to let he record stand that Andrew Ryan has the best mustache and there is no competition.
