Bunch of dumbfucks illegally occupied an Oregon nature preserve 40 days ago, now there are four holdouts who refused to leave and are now indicted of felony charges for squatting on federal land and preventing federal employees from their duties. FBI is fed up with waiting and moved in close on the compound and is trying to talk them throug a peaceful resolution, but they're being huge redneck babies and refusing to come out without their guns/freedom (all four are indicted with a charge that carries up to 6 years in prison, they insist on no jail).
Negotiations may be improving but they got shaky for a while. They're also kind of crazy and seem obsessed with the idea that the FBI is actually evil and wants to kill them, despite the FBI trying for weeks to talk them into leaving without violence.

Because it's relateable and most people know Waco and Ruby Ridge from memory for how fucked up the incidents were. I'd personally compare this more to the Montana Freemen incidents that took place in 96'. Ideally, you want to avoid direct confrontation with people willing to go martyr mode, and its easier to try to calm down everyone to a peaceful level to discuss things.
The situation could of been a lot worse had the FBI not taken the precaution of trying to peacefully manage the situation by arresting people outside of the park station. Only up to about two to three weeks ago, the area had something around 100+ garrisoned, with several guys patrolling the local woods with rifles and a few guys up in a firewatch tower, armed with rifles with telescopic scopes.
At the current moment it's only about four people, but that is still something of concern as in most cases, the agents at the situation are still at risk of being shot, when no reason exists for it to end like that.
I'm half expecting a christian sect that canonizes the founding fathers and politcal theorists like john locke.
Future weapons had some really neat non-lethal and less than lethal weapons. I wonder how effective those would be in this situation.

All four are indicted of at minimum a federal felony of up to 6 years in prison, but it's the "up to" part. I could see all of them being given six months and five years of parole to scare them straight without handing the whackjob-patriot crew martyrs.
As long as part of that parole includes no Internet.

I just want order to be restored and certain people to be shown that it will be with force if need be.
This has been going on for weeks and weeks and it needs to end. I don't want anyone to die either but what needs to be done should be done at the apporiate time. If the FBI thinks it appropriate to continue to draw this out, then fine. But if in the end they're never going to come out and force needs to be taken, then so be it.
i'd rather it end peacefully as well but thinking that they have a chance of getting anything out of this because [ruby ridge and waco] is nothing but a dream
