Sovereign Citizens desperately need to believe in magic realism because their belief structure about how the USA works depends on it. It's a coping mechanism for a very strange and unique form of voluntary victimhood and irrational responses to attempts to enforce society's rules (aka laws) which they deem 'unfair' according to only themselves.
I can only give them sympathy in the form of pity. They're wholly delusional about how the world works, and because reality is not working out at all the way they believed it would in their own special understanding of the world, they're struggling to explain the massive disparities while holding onto their worldview. It's much like watching a deeply religious person go through massive mental gymnastics in order to maintain their beliefs when challenged with checkmating arguments against them.
It's sad watching someone suffer so needlessly (and come fairly close to suicide by FBI) because they've convinced themselves of a grand conspiracy. The Sovereign Citizen movement preys on people who feel the need to have their victimhood validated and feel power against a system they feel is oppressive and invasive (like assessing people taxes, or enforcing traffic laws or drug laws), and tells them that reality as we know it is an evil conspiracy by The Man to subvert your natural rights and make you a wage slave, and the conspiracy is so insidious that it tricks you into voluntarily participating in the system so you can't even sue the responsible parties later after some perceived "injustice" like being evicted because you decided your outstanding mortgage was actually imaginary (despite the fact that suing them would be in the courts, which Sov Cits would tell you are part of the corrupt system anyway).
And people eat that shit up because they get told that actually they have a right to do whatever the fuck they want except basically murder or injure or steal from other people -- drive whatever speed you want, grow your own weed, don't pay any taxes, it's all legal if you know these Three Weird Legal Tricks to keep The Man off you. Like insisting that your name is J'OHN S:MITH! and not "John Smith" or "JOHN SMITH" and therefore you can ignore any tax assessments, traffic tickets, or court subpoenas with impunity because they aren't addressed to you but the ficticious legal construct created for you as a wage slave (spoiler: legitimately trying this gets you destroyed in court every single time).
Sovereign Citizens, not even once. I'd do meth first, and I'm in no hurry to try something that will make me look like a $0.25/blowjob hooker after using it for a year.
