Julie motherfucking Christmas In this one song she goes from screaming to growling to singing. John Darnielle John is basically the bob dylan of our time Anja Plaschg Her music is like Aphex Twin and Regina Spektor had a baby
He has more of a stage presence than John Myung :v:
Aside from a couple of bass solos where there is literally a spotlight on him, most corpses would have more of a stage presence from John Myung. For such an important part of the sound he's a very inanimate and quiet guy...
Lambeth, thank you jesus for showing me that singer.
Rob Swire? :3
This man, hands down. Listen to it god dammit!

Justin Bieber !!!
The Ratpack, great singers and great entertainers, do I need to say more?
The Rat Pack are great!
Lambeth, thank you jesus for showing me that singer.
Which one?

If you watch videos of DT from the 90's and such, JM would move around on stage, and headbang and stuff. Sorry for getting off topic
Rob Swire? :3
Well idk if it's the effects or whatever but he does sound good. The version Ghosts n Stuff by Deadmau5 with him is much much better than the original I think.
Dolores O'Riordan from the Cranberries Aretha Franklin Layne Staley, from Alice in Chains Chris Cornell Eddie Vedder Ella Fitzgerald Freddie Mercury Just talking about their voices because James Brown seems like a great musician with great vocals but not one of the most touching voices.
Robin fucking Pecknold (Fleet Foxes)
Just talking about their voices because James Brown seems like a great musician with great vocals but not one of the most touching voices.
Wow, that was so obnoxious... A vocal doesn't need to be "touching" to be great. Vocal strength, depth and expressiveness is what its about.
I forgot to mention Van Canto
I find Brandon Flowers to be an awesome vocalist.
Most of my favourite vocalists have been mentioned in this thread, guys like Mikael Akerfeldt, Steven Wilson, Warrel Dane, Hansi Kursch, Jeff Buckley, Freddie Mercury, James LaBrie (with good lyrics) and Maynard James Keenan. Guys I don't think have been mentioned are Tommy Giles Rogers from Between the Buried and Me Loic Rossetti from The Ocean Collective Mariusz Duda from Riverside Kyo from Dir en Grey (One song can't really sum up his vocals since he's basically Japanese Mike Patton)
Kyo is a great vocalist, he's got such a huge vocal range
I revive this thread with Ray Wilson. His genre range is pretty flexible.
Either one of these guys. Incredible pitch control, and as a singer I envy them so much. Also I don't know why you can't count screamers as vocalists. I mean in all honesty it's not an easy thing to do and finding a "Great" screamer is harder than finding great singers in my opinion.
Phil Rind from Sacred Reich

More of a personal list tbh. Michael Sanders (Avenged Sevenfold) David Grohl (Foo Fighters Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audoslave) Serj Tankian (System of a Down and Himself) Adam Levine (Maroon Five) Michael Jackson (Himself) Dexter Holland (The Offsrping) Jared Leto (30 Seconds to Mars) Billy Joel Armstrong (Greenday) Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures) Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac) Bradley Nowell (Sublime) Art Alexakis (Everclear) Benjamin Kowalewicz (Billy Talent) Tom Gabel (Against Me!)
Zack De La Rocha He's incredible, the best rap vocalist I've ever heard, and the passion and energy he puts into his lyrics are amazing. Claudio Sanchez From his appearance I don't know how he does what he does, but it's great and he's one of my favourites at the moment. Finally, Winston McCall He's written some of the best lyrics I've ever heard, and has one of the best screamed/growled vocalists I've ever heard [editline]18th November 2010[/editline] I won't put Robert Plant because I'm sure he's here already somewhere
Forgot One
Tom Delonge of course Doesn't get much better than that
Forgot this one in my first comment (Niilo Sevänen, Tomi Joutsen, Christian Älvestam): Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity)
Claudio Sanchez [img_thumb]http://personal.ashland.edu/musicapprclub/images/pics/Claudio%20Sanchez.jpg[/img_thumb] From his appearance I don't know how he does what he does, but it's great and he's one of my favourites at the moment.
His voice annoys me so much really.
