All praise the messiah, for he has shown us the way.. of uncertainty?
And everyone here is talking about evolution in this afterlife? Won't he be pissed?
when you die, its the same as before you were born have fun contemplating that edit: god damn it poster right above me
More like on the first page. ANYWAY. People. Death is nothing special. It's death. It's final.
Dammit. I don't wanna die. WE NEED TO FIND DEATH AND KILL HIM!
This thread is full of wishfull thinking, and half arsed science. You just need to understand that the brain is the source of who you are, and that the reason you might think you are 'special', or that you have a spirit, is because you will never, ever, be able to comprehend death. NDE are just that, NEAR Death Experiences. Your brain is the true 'you', and once it has died, so have you.
Define 'soul'.
By soul, I mean those Bioelectrical signals between the neurons in your brain that create your unique personality, your mind, your thoughts, and everything that makes you you. The body cannot live without the soul and the soul cannot live without the body.

Dead people do not think, because they cannot. Therefore dead people are not. Thus, dead people are dead in every sense of the word. Everyone has life and individuality, until they die. When you die, you are dead. Other then physical features, you are no different then any other people that is dead.
I'm free this saturday, wanna go find him?
But how do we get to hell? Wait I got an idea. We stage a death scene, and we hide behind some bushes. When he comes, we run out of the bush and use baseball bats to beat the crap out of him.

When you really think about it, what we, as not dead people have, is individuality. We act differently from each other. That is all we have compared to the dead. Because the dead cannot act, they are dead after all. [editline]02:06AM[/editline]
But how do we get to hell? Wait I got an idea. You really want to know how death feels? Go ask an Emergency Room doctor to shock you with the defibrillator. Then ask him to bring you back to life in an hour. You're not going to remember anything from that hour, because your body isn't working. That's how death's like. Only you don't wake up in an hour. There is a difference between saying I think there is nothing and saying THERE IS NOTHING, if you blindly say there is nothing after death then you are just as bad as those religious idiots who believe blindly in an ever loving god and an afterlife. Also, no you cannot live without assistance from Machines.

We go to a happy place in the sky where all of our dreams are fulfilled and everything. Except you, because you don't believe that this happens. Loser. One of these goes very well with the known laws of the universe. There is OBVIOUSLY nothing because when you die, all of what is part of you, is no longer part of you. Like before you were born. Thus there is nothing after death, like there was nothing before birth. If you think there is something after you die then you are in denial or ignorance. Unless your just dumb. [editline]02:19AM[/editline] I think it would be fair to point out that what I said was probably closer to the definition of THEORY then almost anything else in this thread.

There is always a possibility of an after life, because in all reality there is an after life. The after life may be a heaven, maybe its nothing, maybe you are reincarnated, and maybe you move onto another existence. You cant disprove these claims, let alone can you prove them. The only way to find out is to die, so stop blatantly saying "THIS HAPPENS" that is being ignorant. Thinking about this kind of thing and saying to yourself 'Hmm maybe there is something" is not being ignorant, nor is it being moronic. These questions still make philosophers and scientists wonder about it. You cant say there is nothing anymore than you can say there is something, so just stop with your garbage.

Thus there are some things that are impossible. Second. The idea of every possible universe existing is ridiculous. Because some universies would become intertwined due to creatures in those universes fucking with the laws of physics and it would just be really fucked up. Since there are infinite universes that must mean that everything has already happened, an infinite amount of times. That this conversation was already had, an infinite number of times. Third. Logically, there is no after life. Since you are your fleshy brain. When someone breaks that fleshy brain of yours, they are breaking you. Everything that you are, and aspire to be. All of your hopes, dreams, failures, everything, is contained in that brain. When it breaks, you cease to exist. When you cease to exist. It is the same as before you began to exist.
And maybe we get stuck in TIMEROLLER COMICS.

I have no beliefs in any of this, I think it through and the logical way says nothing happens.
I dont disagree with you on the science part, however there is still a possibility. Because you want there to be? or because there is some reason there just has to be one? [editline]02:32AM[/editline] Also, I just want to clear up that I believe the Universe started with a big bang, and will end in a big crunch, only to repeat into another big bang. And will continue doing so, forever.
There is a theory that our brains may actually be coded into the multiverse. This would explain Deja Vu, "After-Life", and many other strange psychological phenomenons.
Or maybe it's just a weird feeling. Nah, your explanation is far simpler.
Why is there a possibility? Because you want there to be? or because there is some reason there just has to be one?
The possiblity is an if, its not probable and it probably wont happen.

Death is like being hit in the face with a dick.
There is a theory that our brains may actually be coded into the multiverse. Like we would get Deja Vu before a predator attack and know to get the fuck out of there because it was really similar to a predator attack that happened a while ago. [editline]02:35AM[/editline]
Too bad no science supports that idea goddamnit. Once again people, learn your shit.
Enlighten me. Let me simply this... You can get hit with a bus. Why? -> Because the bus is moving and you are in the way and atoms repel each other and whatever else goes into being hit by a physical object. There is something after you die. Why? -> Blankity Fucking Blank.
I still like this image. It may be a little off topic, but its kewl.
I have to go to sleep. I think ill just leave this here though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Bounce

As things get further away they're going further away with increased speed. So most likely we're facing a heat death scenario.
