So most likely we're facing a heat death scenario.

So, in a heat death. Wouldn't every particle eventually gravitate together anyway?
So, in a heat death. Wouldn't every particle eventually gravitate together anyway?
No, because it's all speeding away from each other and out of reach of each others gravitation.
Probably like how it's like before you were born, that's death.
Funny. You were already dead.
Death is a violet light and a hum.
WHAT AM I REFERENCING?
Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five.
If you follow the rules of God, as given by the church, you will ascend to Heaven where all peace and happiness will be yours. If you do not, you're going to burn in Hell. So, do as the Church tells ya else you'll fry for all eternity.

You can't be out of reach of gravity. But out in extremely deep space, it would be really really really minimal.
Why should we be afraid of death if we have nothing sensible left when we die?
Death sounds boring.
Also Death

I hope for Valhalla. And Ragnarok. :3

Theirs also a neutral ground where most of the Atheists like us go. All the famous philosophers are there so I figure I can't lose either way and I can chat it up with Homer for eternity
Matter can be destroyed, it's energy that can't.
To destroy matter, just mix it with Anti-Matter.
No. Matter cannot be created nor destroyed. This applies to Energy too. you can only change the forms of energy.
This is stated by Law of Conservation.
What if it was like this?
Until anyone has definitive proof about what the afterlife is like, if there is one for that matter, we are free to imagine what we like.
Capiche?
It's like sleeping except for (much) longer and without dreams.
My idea exactly. I think, not being religious, that when we die, our brains will just turn off. So we wont know were dead, because we wont have the capacity to think. But, also it would be really cool if there WAS a heaven or something (as said before, 1 second drawn out into 9023457234795249050234562345's of years...) but, because we have been alive for (insert your age here) years, it's impossible to comprehend the possibility of NOT having life. Also, since the laws of thermodynamics state that matter can be neither created or destroyed, just changed, re-incarnation can, and does happen. just not in the way you think it does. But enough of this! *some rave stuff here*

WRRRONG! If you had 1 electron 94308756359836939853895673478625635635689035836890367349690856893734^34556256356324534745632456^36334956092834587923460480982340234652349876823452345789*5 lightyears away from another electron, given time (lots of it lol) they would collide, moving pretty fast. Our mouse on our mousepad is effected by the gravity of some atom on some planet orbiting some star in some remote galaxy from us. ITs just that the pull of the earth is alot stronger. Physics ftw
I think youre body just rots and you become a part of each and every thing that helps decompose your body (bugs, soil, etc.). And then you become part of whatever eats those things, and it just goes on and on.
If there is an afterlife, w00t.
If there is an endless lucid dream, see above.
If there is reincarnation, w00t?
If there is nothing, I won't be able to care.
I try to mentally make peace with these issues and stop caring.

Sure will, that's plausible. But a religious life is also a peaceful/respectable life because you set a higher standard for yourself.
Your body is a temple == keeping your body in shape, clean from drugs.
Prayer == meditation, does your mind a lot of good.
Hope == give people a purpose, reason to live.
The people == a lot of Christians are very kind people.

Haha, you think there's a big guy in the sky!!
Think of it this way; we are all conscious, right? And we are all composed of matter, correct? Well, how's that possible? How could we be conscious if consciousness isn't inherent in all matter?
Anyway, I don't think that anyone can truly be sure as to what happens after death (unless they manage to die and come back, which rarely happens, and even then, they don't remember much). I believe that our consciousness, our awareness, simply spreads out with the matter that it was attached to. I dunno, just my $0.02.
Here's a kinda revelant question. What creates life? What is it that makes creatures/bacteria etc live?
If you can reincarnate, will you reincarnate to an alien? And what happen if nothing else in universe live?
Haha, you think there's a big guy in the sky!!
Sure, why not. What if there IS a God? That's enough to make some people become religious.
I don't really see what's so funny about it.
What if there ISN'T a god? :smug:
Hopefully it is one big long sexy dream.
It'd be like sleeping, but forever and without any dreams
Hopefully it is one big long sexy dream.
eventually you would get bored
i'd go for the respawn option with the same memory included so you are the same person and don't do stupid shit again.

those false memories are created by middle aged suburban housewives wanting to feel less mundane.

Are you sure you really can't think of any other reason people would take care of their body, relax, find meaning in life and be nice?
These things are not confined to religion only.
