How do you know? Have you been a toothbrush? Nope, nope, not at all
being a toothbrush is not fun I should know
Our experiences in the physical world could merely be nothing more than an MMORPG in an external world, for which we refer upon as the "metaphysical" realm. In this alternative reality, it's the same as this world, but we had agree'd to play a life MMORPG, with direct sensory input into the brain, and without any knowledge of that world - so thus, we transfer to this world, but our actual self is in another world, but due to our agreement to play this MMORPG, or simulator as such, we're trapped until we die. Although this is similar to the "brain in vat" theory, of which cannot be proven nor disproven, in the alternative reality, that in itself, is an MMORPG of an MMORPG - an infinite within an infinite. I guess this cannot be disproven, nor proven either.
As you die, your brain produces a large amount of the dream-inducing drug it naturally produces. As dreams can seem to last for days, weeks, even years in only hours of actual sleep, your mind in its last second interprets this to be almost infinity. Whatever you believed in in life is represented in this dream.
What the fuck is Waking Life
I've had dreams that seemed to last for several weeks in the timespan of only 30 RL minutes.
If we observe them now, they may only appear to have lasted an hour, but in physical reality, we existed for 30 minutes. But due to the alteration of perception in a dream, our unconscious can often create the feeling that it has lasted for several weeks - and can alter the memory, expanding it, so it appeared to have lasted longer. Our unconscious can also replicate many other feelings, such as - time travel, amongst many others. Although we may not have traveled back, we felt as if we did, or at least, had believed we did, and thus, had the experience of it. Ultimately, we had experienced several weeks, due to our perception of our experience being interjected with falsified data from our unconscious, and we had also traveled back in time - it's no different, other than the falsification of data, with experience in the physical reality. But nonetheless, and again, we had in effect, experienced the equivillent as a mental substitute.
[editline]06:15AM[/editline]
Personally, I believe it's nothing more than switching from one reality to another - our self-awareness, or rather, our self (I created a thread under an alt account, or this, last year - you could probably find it via the board's search engine), detaches from a physical self - or rather, it is connected to it via an alternative reality. To clarify, it would be alike experiencing a vitual environment of 2D, by inputting ourselves upon an IT game through virtual sensory input, but due to a lengthy duration, we get trapped inside. However, if we were fed with sustainable resources for our physical self, we can live inside, and awaken outside upon the death of the system we bound ourselves upon. But, if we're switching from reality to reality, the other could be any given reality - it could be transfering from universe to universe - from time to time (being born in the past after you die, as a result of switching timelines; or in the future).
i believe in reincarnation but not the same way as what most believers of reincarnation believe. Energy can never be destroyed, it can just change shape, form or whatever. so i guess that could apply to all other things sooo we could be reincarnated into anything. air, water, people again
I'm not sure if similar has been said but, along these lines however you'd only regain consciousness if the very same electrons came together in the right places, so near infinitely unlikely, however possible.
I never really thought of consciousness as a science thing before, I figured it's a one off. It could happen again but it would be very hard, you'd have to have your pieces go through the food/air/water that the mother ingests so that it could go to the baby, as well as the same for the father so that you may grow into a sperm.
Crazy shit.
Also, can "nothing" exist? If in the beginning - that is, if it is possible for a start, from which existence transpires, and thus before, could "nothing" have existed? If so, it could create a paradox - if nothing existed, then how could something come out of nothing, if there was nothing for something to exist? We know that there needs to be something for something to exist, so therefore, something must have always existed, and then -- what created that? And so forth - so existence, could be concieved as eternal - there is an infinite of existence, supporting that which is above. To clarify, you could view this as a tower, and upon each layer, there is something else, and below it, is that which supports the above layer, and the tower consists of an infinite amount of layers - it's eternal. So, if "nothing" could exist, and therefore, there must always be something - and perhaps that is energy, as we also know that energy cannot be created nor destroyed, and can only be transfered - then perhaps it's impossible for self-existence to diminish completely. Therefore, our actual self - our essence, if eternal, but requires a sensory input, and by rule of life, it transfers upon death - and perhaps a law, under the condition of spontaneous death, causes one to believe they still exist in that given reality, but they're transfered to an alternative universe - or reality. Perhaps, ghosts, are when the two universes clash in a given aspect, causing the living to view the dead, and vice versa. Perhaps whilst a ghost, one attempts to complete all their goals, or at least live up until the point they were supposed to die, or realize they're dead - perhaps we're actually dead - but we don't know for sure, until something is definite upon this - but when a ghost realizes their death, they quickly transfer to a "living" world.

It's a movie that introduced a lot of people to the idea you explained
ah man all this talk about nothing happening when you die and shit is scaring the shit out of me. I don't wanna die..... EVER!!!
After reading all this, I think I'm even more ready to die and experience what will happen.
My girlfriend has had the experience of her heart stopping and going unconscious. She said that after the shock, it was just really peaceful, your thoughts stop and you just feel at peace.
I think at death your mind goes back to the happiest time of your life and you live there forever. In eternal peace. At least I hope.

Is your girlfriend fat?
Some people in here have the most childish and retarded views of death I've ever heard.
You turn into a baby? Really?
It's a movie that introduced a lot of people to the idea you explained
Ahh. I came up with this theory individually when I was like 9 and I've been refining it into a more logical idea as I've aged because the original thing made no sense.

Are you telling me you just made some shit up and are trying to make it more plausible with time by changing it?
Are you telling me you just made some shit up and are trying to make it more plausible with time by changing it?
Yes. Recently I actually bothered to research it and discovered that it makes more sense than I originally thought, so now this is what I think absolutely.
I have a bunch of jumbled theories about things that clear up and sound better as I mature and my ability to process and understand complexities such as those I produce on a regular basis improves.

Death feels like cold and boring.
Death feels like cold and boring.
Death feels like whatever your mind interprets death to be, as I explained in my previous on the previous page.

I...
Does it hurt your head to be you? Does the phrase "making sense" register?
Do you realize that thoughts do indeed occur in a finite amount of time? And that the brain decomposes hours after death? And that there is no reason for the brain to evolve some sort of death dream state so this complex chemical reaction would have to simply come about through genetic drift with no ruling guide?
Death feels like whatever your mind interprets death to be, as I explained in my previous on the previous page.
Death feels like a well formed breast.

As you explained in your logic devoid and frankly depressing post. Yeah.

That's not how knowledge works, Jesus fuck. You don't just continually make up more plausibly sounding bullshit as you go on. It's still a fucking made up fantasy of your own creation, regardless of how much you change it.

Do you realize that shut the fuck up? :argh:
There's no reason for Earth to bear life, because life is not beneficial to Earth. Your counter-argument is countered by the fact that alot of things need no reason to happen.
Probably something like what happens to people on the operating table.
