• Theories of what death is like?

I take the view that I simply don't and can't know what happens after death (since it is pretty much its definition that once you're dead you can't come back again, so we will never know.) That said... I think I like the idea of reincarnation, not in any specific religious way, but as a different person, with a different life and different opportunities, yet still keeping the essence of who you are. It'd be nice if our deaths were just the start of a big long journey. Or maybe, everyone is a reincarnation of the same person... now that would be odd.

I have always wondered this. Maybe when you die you get life_cheats 1 on and can noclip around everywhere. But in all seriousness I think that it will be black UNTIL a certain point when Earth/universe dies and everything starts back over again and you re-live the same exact life you once had, hence why people sometimes get DeJa Vu.(or however you spell it.)
Actually, turns out we don't even need to die! We can experience heaven right here, right now in game form http://www.heaventhegame.com/
http://near-death.com/evidence.html
I've always thought near death experiences were a little silly, I mean death is death, you can't come back from the dead, that's the very definition. Even patients who apparently were 'brought back from the dead' were nothing of the kind, if you can be bought back then you weren't dead in the first place.

Some people who have damage in that area (such as after having fits) experience constant Deja Vu, while some experience none at all. Apparently it is probably an evolved mechanism to help us interpret what were doing, giving a very plausible alternative explanation to the past lives one.

Before you die your mind is pumping out tons of DMT so I imagine it's terrifying.
Everytime I have ever had Deja Vu, I have been able to tell in perfect detail into exactly what will happen and 100% of the time it happens.
Same here dude. It's crazy shit. Also I just wanted to point out that I had 2 or 3 of DeJa Vu's this week and last week and they were all while playing Left 4 Dead.
I honestly have no idea, it could be just black, like an eternal sleep without dreams, but on the other hand, I keep thinking why I'm "experiencing" life from the viewpoint of my body, what is my consciousness? When I think too deeply about it, I start to think there is some sort of "afterlife" And I know I've heard that your consciousness comes from some part of your brain, but I can't comprehend that I'm just my brain controlling my body, I mean, your brain is made up of loads of cells which are "living" themselves.
I hope theres something. anything. But then again my desperate hopes for something could be related to my fear of death. I'd like to think theres another state of conscious, but i would imagine it would be just you..in the dark...for all eternity : /

You are made up of tiny little things called cells, these cells are made up of even smaller things called Chromosomes, the Chromosomes are made up of even smaller DNA, and as you keep going, You are just made up of Atoms and made of nothing really living at all. So in all reality, life is just some stupid complex biochemical process that randomly popped up in the right conditions on a planet that is floating in space. Good times right? You should embrace the inevitable, because it is the only true certainty in life.
I believe in biological death. I hope for an endless dream.
Asking a human what death is like is like asking a baby in the womb what the world is like. Essentially I believe that our soul progresses through stages and this world is just one stage in the process.
I agree, I am really excited to discover what awaits beyond my phsyical body. If anything. Im not anticipating it though..
I'm not THAT excited really.
I'll just cease to exist. I like the that way. After reading 'The Five People You Meet in Heaven' It would be an interesting concept to have your life explained by five people who have significantly affected it.

Not saying that's what happens with you though.

People look at you like you are crazy when you say exactly what they were going to say, or you go to a place you have never been and you describe what it looks like inside without ever being there.
Actually, they do, quite extensively. In Islam, the Houri (the virgins) are described as "splendid companions of equal age "lovely eyed", of "modest gaze", "voluptuous", "pure beings" or "companions pure" of paradise.
Did it say if they were male or female? That's what I thought.
A) I go to a land where it's basically gmod, but with real-world physics, but still holding all my tools and stuff. B) Whatever happens in Halo(any) multiplayer where you see your body die, but you respawn with a timer and beeps.

Pretty good... No one has ever managed to even get through the first round of tests though (which the claimant discusses comes up with themselves - so they're not exactly unfair.) And many people, including at least one famous TV psychic have tried. Until someone wins that, or shows in another scientific manner anything like this exists, I think being skeptical is perfectly acceptable.
Another mad-cap idea is that when you die, you begin a new life as a foetus in the womb, starting a new life, with a new family.
I think it is either: The electricity in your brain disperses, therefore everything ends, but you won't even notice it. Or The electricity in your brain disperses, but in that last moment you immagine yourself something else or somewhere else, and since our brain can make one second seem endless to us, we remain there forever (at least that is what we think, in reality not even one second). I believe the first one. Edit: Also we won't really "end" since we are the electricity in our brains (neurons and electrical charges are our toughts) we "disperse" and mix with other stuff, so we don't end, but for our consciousness it's more or less the same thing.
That last statement sent chills down my spine, just one of those truths I never really gave attention to. Anyway, my Grandma told about the time she was staying with her friend who was near death in a hospital, she said her last moments were very peaceful and she went silently but less than a minute later she came to and shrieked then died. Most likely a silly story.
But what happens when the earth eventually just gets destroyed and there is no more life here?
Life in the next universe? Or next planet?
It is theoretical that life never ends, you simply somehow survive forever.
Well, our mind is composed of electric impulses so our counciousness has to go somewhere but since it will not have a specific structure of any sort as it does in our biological selves it will most likely just turn into that, simple electricity. So yeah, either nothingness or a dream-like state where you're free to do anything. EDIT: Damn I was ninja'd.
I would rather go to hell, I mean that is where all the cool people go.
Actually, the real Hell is much worse then Fire and Brimstone. Hell is meant to be a complete detachment from God, forever, and that means from anyone else with vestigial semblences to Gods Power. In other words, you aren't in a room with fire and flames filled with other damned souls. You are alone, suspended in a pitch black, soundless void, forever, feeling detachment from everything you know and love.

my idea, the body hallucinate due to a process of death, that is why i think people "see a light" or a "tunnel" I feel this could be the brains natural way of making a calmer death. So Probably see something, such as a flash of your life, hallucinate some shit, then dark void. I actly made a machinma video of how i think death would be.
