That's what god invented wireless technology for.
Too bad god didn't provide the knowledge to not put wireless on 2.4ghz so if you're near a microwave or a AM radio it'll cut out.
My last headset broke down this way because it allways got stuck between the wheels of my office chair.
But with the one I have now, I have learnt to avoid getting it stuck there. And I also have a new chair which is better.
I've turned my headphones in twice in less than a year due to this. I got new ones for free though, but it's still really annoying.
Yeah, my Philips SBC HP195 are dying... They were so awesome...
I just got these for £20
These are great.

EDIT - The ear has just completley gone now, can't hear a thing no matter what :<
Someone link me a HIGH QUALITY headset that won't break in less than a year or two.
Don't want to read?
Every headset always breaks in one side eventually and it's stupid. Post your experiences of this, thank you
Responses -
"Take better care of them" - Can't take much better care than making sure the wire is always out of the way, I even have a hook on my desk for them. No brute here.
"That's called headphones dieing. It happens, otherwise headphones companies would go broke" - Never heard of a company making a product to purpously break after time so you buy more.
R.I.P
The mic on these was amazing <:{
Mine don't even work anymore, however I still wear them just to use the mic.

Would be pretty dumb of a company to publicly admit that, wouldn't it?
If you have the money, buy Steelseries.
I usually cut off the tips and then solder them back on which saved me alot of money from buying new ones or I just order a new wire for my ultimate ears.
I've lost three headsets.
It's not 'headphones dieing', it's "Planned Obsolescence". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planned_obsolescence
It's not necessarily the case with these headphones, but it's a very common tactic in the business world.
i fixed my headphone by putting a color pencil between the plugs or whatever they're called
Seems like you're all ears ;)
Sometimes I believe headsets are designed to break after a long period, makes you buy more
I've had my Sennheiser HD 415's for awhile and haven't had a problem yet.
Happened to one of my older heasets. I had to tilt my head up, while looking to the right in order to have sound in both sides.
Oh, and my Koss headset is completely fucked. If I bend the head part, I only get sound in my right ear. So I have to keep the wire straight at all times.
Technically I've only gone through one and even then its just the mic that broke. I just used that eyetoy as a mic which actually worked quite well. I had some other random ones which didn't break at all. Lets hope this one I got doesn't break.
I have these:

Awesome sound, got a strong jack that hasn't fucked up.
Wire got cut, but all I did was open up the headphones, reconnected the wires and stuck them together with some tape.
After three years they fucked up, and fell apart. All I had to do was put on some good'ol tape on the inside and it works like a charm.

I used to have a pair of those, they lasted about three quarters of a year before the microphone busted, and then the earphones died about 2 months later.
This happened to my first two headsets.
The worst is them completely breaking at one side.
Here's why they always break - they're made to break so that you'll buy another pair, and then another, and then another, and so on.
Get one of these instead:

I got two of these for free from that Microsoft games thing, Freaking loved them.
It might be that music you listen too has heavy bass/treble/whatever on one side, so eventually it knocks the speaker on that side loose. Try switching to mono or turning the volume down.
Whenever I have this problem, I give them to my dad (who conveniently owns an electronics business) and he replaces the connecter on them, works like a charm.
I think the reason they break is the insulation that separates the wires for each speaker and then each wire for each speaker eventually wears down and shorts the one speaker out.
With my ear buds, I just take the cable from and old pair and solder my good ear buds on when a wire wears out, I've been through two. You could do the same thing with your headset if you're willing/it can be taken apart.
I hate it when my headsets decide to break after about 3 months, same thing goes for earphones. They break way too easily.
How does one even break headphones? I've had several over the years and I've broken none, I just give the old ones to my sister or put them away when I feel I need new ones (that's like every four years or so), and I almost always buy the cheapest headphones I can find.

Guess what? They break as soon as you give them to her.
Also, in a roundabout sort of way, you are actually breaking your headphones.
My Razer headphones haven't died yet <3
